Thank you touch for your kind words or encouragement and feedback! Thirds are tricky indeed. My left hand thirds are still not very fluid. But the right hand got much better after playing Chipin etude op. 25 no. 6. There are some great Czerny ones for thirds as well. But you can simply ( well....not really so simple. Haha) start with scales in thirds . The comfortable fingerings is the key, in my opinion! And keeping the palm of your hand strong. ( the knuckle part especially).
I love the way you cover the use of our hands and arms. If we don't have these fundamentals right as a beginner, we'll reach a point where we have to try to unlearn bad technique. It is so much harder to unlearn bad technique than to invest time to learn good technique from the start. I had to correct my fretting technique on bass guitar and years later I still have to do exercises regularly to avoid slipping back.
I absolutely agree with every word! It is so important to have a good teacher in the beginning that will tell us why these things are so important from the start....I was lucky!:)
