- Se Europas største musikkinstrument bli montert i Nidarosdomen!

This is far from the largest organ in Europe. Even if we disregard the seemingly big German instruments (most of them are made up of smaller independent organs wired into a single console, giving beefed up pipe counts) Trondheim won't even reach top ten.
Not that it matters. It's amazing to see an authentic late romantic organ being reinstated. It's one of very few remaining examples.
It is one of the largest organs in Europe. I helped to build it :P There are over 140 Reg.
Hva heter stykket som spilles i videoen`?
Fjerde sats, Toccata i C moll, fra Suite gothique, Op. 25 av Léon Boëllmann.
Is it really Europe's largest music Instrument? Isn't the organ in the Passau Cathedral larger?
It's not the largest. As you say Passau is the largest in Europe with 233 stops and 17 774 pipes. Nidaros has 125 stops and about 9 600 pipes. Nidaros is more of a "single" instrument whereas Passau is 5 different organs playable from one console. G.F. Steinmeyer builder was involved in both organs. Nidaros will soon have a new choir-organ at about 30 stops wich also will be playable from the main console, and vice-versa.
Morten Malvik Ah - thank you. I've seen the Passau organ twice, but I've heard it only on CD. In the Trondheim cathedral I've been also twice: 1999 and 2003. I think, I donated some coins for the restoration of the organ. The main issue is not, how big a organ is, the sound is most important, though.
Totally agree! You can argue the Steinmeyerorgan in Nidaros is too large for the church. In 1930 when it was originally installed it was a lot of debate about this. But the newly restored version sound really amazing!
