I’m not sure I necessarily believe Jaclyn, I don’t follow her closely but she had posted videos of behind the scenes and the lab workers were clearly not wearing cotton gloves. They were wearing blue disposable gloves. Maybe on other occasions they were? Idk 😖 Although I think my main issue with this drama is that she handled the situation quite terribly. She rudely and passive aggressively responded to one of the girls on Twitter to first point out the issues with the lipsticks. The girl politely addressed Jaclyn to express her concerns, Jaclyn even went to say that it was the girl’s fault for having dry/crusty lips. So unprofessional and rude.

Love your channel but I’ve been following this situation super closely and I have to disagree. Jaclyn has been very shady in the past, from her morphe vault to how she treated Marlena Stell (owner of makeup geek) causing makeup geek to lose a ton of money (tea spill and here for the tea exposed their emails). That’s probably why people are hesitant to trust her. Every product she’s come out with besides champagne pop has had an issue. Also, there were more than white fuzzies in the lipsticks, a lot of them had black hairs and mine personally had a hard piece of clear substance (it felt like plastic). Her apology felt like she was talking down to her consumers and the fact that she continues to say that her lipsticks aren’t contaminated is not okay bc hairs in lipstick (regardless of where they’re from) is contamination. Plus the “paperwork” she provided was an an FDA approval form from 2017 which doesn’t prove anything about the lipsticks. Many people have come out and said that the formula is inconsistent and Jaclyn herself said that her lipstick wasn’t mixed properly (hence the air bubbles). I’m not sure if you knew all of this but yeah. Paying 18+ dollars for a lipstick and finding things in it is unacceptable and she should have recalled the batch as soon as she saw what was happening.

Hey ladies I definitely get this point of view. It's been a crazy situation, and an unfortunate one. I purchased 4 lipsticks and they were GROSS, and I was SO EXCITED for them. I did a review on my channel. I'm not into bashing people but I'm a mom, and that was my hard earned money and to me her attitude was like.. idk. Lack luster at best. It's been over a week and I've heard NOTHING from customer service. Disgusting

My whole thing with her is she said we “rushed” she’s been working on it for years and never released a date so people weren’t expecting it or excited until she announced it.So she should have made 100% sure it was ready before releasing!
The thing is. Her product according to certain customers is hurting them. Some people broke out after searching the lipsticks. One customer got a blister/ pimple on their lip. Another had to take prescription for the reaction they had to the lipstick. So sure there not rat poison but for her to be so honest and genuine in wanting her products to sell well and having good intentions how could it go so horribly wrong. Somethings not adding up. There are customers who have shown that fuzz is GROWING from the lipstick. Like how is that a workers cotton gloves. Also I think is bs that the latex would stain the metal. You can use plastic gloves. Like really. There are so many types of gloves it’s not even logical to use cotton around a manufacturing factory that makes creamy/ oil based products.
It's not just the way the lipsticks look though. Plenty of people have posted pics of cuts, blisters and strange rashes on their lips that they got after using the lipsticks. Having said that, I agree people can be incredibly immature and some of the comments are really unnecessary. Great video as always Julia! x

_I was super disappointed since they were so hyped up and I wanted them so bad.. and mine were 100% expired and smelled gross, and had some rough stuff inside the formula! I don't think she did it on purpose, but it's still Super annoying._

But like I said, I know she would never INTENTIONALLY do this to her brand and first launch. Hopefully she can make it right going forward! People have been getting sick from her lipsticks. Before Jaclyn posted her video (I think) someone posted how they got a bacteria infection and was on antibiotics from these lipsticks. I think she should recall them cause to me, she’s a liar.

I think alot of thing with this whole jaclyn hill drama and what made it a little bit worse, is that people who were on her pr list that got her makeup didn't have an issue with the lipsticks. People who ordered straight from the website had defective lipsticks and that also rubbed people the wrong way.

If you haven’t seen it already another CZcamsr named Kenna who is a biochemist that studies make up broke down the ingredients in the product and health issues it may cause. She’s sending the lipsticks to a lab to test for harmful stuff highly recommend checking it out if you’re interested
I still don’t quite know how I feel about this whole situation...I did find a fuzzy in the lipstick I bought and honestly it was such a turnoff. Seeing other people’s defective lipsticks made it worse. But customer service was super helpful; I did get a refund as well as the promise of a replacement even though I didn’t ask for one. So we’ll see. Hopefully she can salvage her reputation through this mess.

100% agree. I bought a lipstick and I live in Texas so when it was delivered it was 90°+. It had an air bubble in it, but I probably wouldn't have even noticed it had I not already seen people's pictures and looked for it. Everything else was perfect and I'm obsessed with it. I feel like she is definitely under more scrutiny than large cosmetic companies and I think it's because they know who she is on a more personal level and they have a direct line of contact to her. But I will definitely be buying more and if I get one that's messed up, I'll deal with it or send it back and get a refund bc it's just fucking lipstick and shit happens. ♥️

I feel you. I agree with a lot of it. I still feel like she was very dismissive of people’s issues with the lipsticks. Clearly enough people are having issues with the lipsticks, so I hope she has a better PR plan how to fix this all, rather than just being hardly apologetic at all and rude in a 14 minute video.

P.S. Jaclyn has had several different issues with her previous makeup launches so I think people are trying super hard to make her have a “failure” again. I don’t think she did this intentionally, either. But however, I also think that she just tends to have that happen due to some type of “miscommunication” with labs or people who she works with. Maybe it’s just me. I loved her for years and still do. I did want to purchase the lipsticks but I’m a bit afraid only because I don’t feel like receiving a bad product. Debating...debating 🤷🏻♀️

I hope I don't get beat up in the comment section for what I'm about to say, but I worked in a private cosmetic lab and based on my past experiences I believe the lab concealed all the problems from Jaclyn. Just like Julia said these labs make tons of mistakes. The lab she used probably had very bad control management that Jaclyn was unaware of.
One time a woman who financed her own cosmetic line with the lab I worked for had an obvious mispelling to the name of her brand on all of her contracts for the visual aspects of her product. My lab knowingly made this spelling error on the product we made for her because the name was contracted that way. She even saw the product several times and did not notice it. She caught the error when it was too late. The end result was an obvious mispelling on her compacts that were manufactured overseas and on the product too. She sued and lost. She was f-ed over so bad that I still lose sleep over it. This is just one example of how bad it can be for someone starting their own cosmetic line. I think everyone should stop being so hard on Jaclyn because most of what happened probably wasn't her fault.
As for the apology video, all I thought was that she was trying to be very neutral. She definitely has a lawsuit, I'm sure an attorney advised her on what to say, told her not be emotional and not to accept blame.

it's just one of those situations that doesn't exactly add up. there were so many flaws with her lipsticks and considering she's been working on it for 5 years, these flaws could have easily been avoided. plus the whole "cotton gloves" thing seemed like bullshit to me

I understand that people are so pissed. They waited for years, paid a lot of money and then they don't get a product that equals the price. On the other side yo never know if she was scammed or not. Like imagine her starting to produce makeup with partners and they are just using the cheapest of stuff and ingredients to actually produce the products.
She's just getting all the critique because she is the face of HER own brand and honestly- if I'd run a beauty company and my lipsticks would look like that, I'd be SO embarrassed and reproduce everything for a lower price point.

jaclyn can say whatever she wants...but *thousands* of pictures don’t lie. for some of them, yes it was only fuzzies but that’s something you would expect out of makeup from dollar tree...some of those pics even showed that those lipsticks are moldy and contaminated. she needs to recall these lipsticks & give people refunds, which she should’ve done when she found out about the issues. if she was some celebrity coming out with a random makeup line, i wouldn’t be surprised about issues, but jaclyn is a makeup artist that has made products & worked with thousands of products for years as a career, so this never should’ve happened. it seems strange that she’s been working on this for 5 years, yet her lipsticks went into mass production only a month ago & there were this many issues. although she should fix this, she shouldn’t be getting so much hate - outraged customers for sure but not international bullying

She tested her lipsticks and trusted her lab, and her presentation was not perfect and she will learn. People are so hasty to cancel the sucessful

I feel so bad for her. She was genuinely so excited for her brand to launch. I bought her lipsticks and I haven’t had any issues with mine yet. I understand why people are upset though but that doesn’t give them the right to bully her online. I can’t imagine how embarrassed and upset she is about it.

I feel like people need to back off one ripping Jaclyn apart for being defensive with her apologies and responses. She worked on this brand for so long and obviously she would be upset to see people bashing a product she worked so hard on.
