    Fukuhara was on the squad in 2004 World Team Championships when Umemura Aya beat Zhang Yining, and Fujinuma Ai beat Li Ju. That was the closest JPN came to threatening China in a team competition (they lost 3-2). I just thought this is an interesting anecdote to the commentator saying that JPN has never caused problems for CHN, which is untrue.

    Ding Ning is the best female TT player in the world, Ai-Chan is ranked 11th and last year she was on 9th place.
    Ai-Chan is a really emotional player for a Japanese Woman,
    also when she tries to suppress it, a very serious and ambitious player.
    I hope she can also laugh and she got fun when playing table tennis.
    It is very funny how high she gets the ball on service^^

    I wonder if there was a typhoon or thunderstorms during the recording of this match...

    I'm impressed! Physically, Fukuhara is shorter/smaller but her footwork is so good. She's fast and Di Ning fails to push Ai far from the table.

    • @fc63457
      @fc63457 Před 3 lety

      She also has crazy mental strength. Her forehand is not the most powerful, but she chose to keep stepping around and using her forehand after 10-10 in the last game, even though it'll leave her forehand side wide open, in order to put pressure on Ding Ning's serves, and it worked.

    Beating one of the Chinese top women is a real rarity. I can only think of Tie Yana in recent years, when she beat Li Xiaoxia. Jiang Huajun used to be able to beat Zhang Yinning quite a few years back. Fukuhara hardly missed the table in this match, good for her.

    • @fc63457
      @fc63457 Před 3 lety

      There was also Feng Tianwei and Wang Yuegu in the 2010 WTTTC, but Fukuhara is the only non-Chinese of the bunch and not really considered a threat for the longest time.

    • @shengweipuan9622
      @shengweipuan9622 Před 9 lety +1

      That is the effect of long pimple rubber, and with the help of the angle and strength controlling after getting used to the ball spin of Ding Ning.

  • @joserobertonakata5947
    @joserobertonakata5947 Před 9 lety +1

    Is this the biggest win of Ai Fukuhara career?

    • @nerowolfe19
      @nerowolfe19 Před 9 lety +1

      It's certainly one of her most convincing performances. She didn't even need a deciding 5th, just took over and scored 15 of the last 21 points after going down 0-7 in the 4th (and she was up against world No.1, imagine that) The kind of game that will see her receiving a good pump from #16 in the next ITTF rankings update. Might even crack top 10.

    Whenever I watch a match dubbed in Chinese I always see comments talking about how condescending the commentator is. Anybody have background on who this commentator is and why she is always deemed as being so condescending?

    • @leexster
      @leexster Před 9 lety

      No idea who she is but I have been hearing her voice for many years already. She's definitely been commentating for more than 10 years already and has a lot of experience. It's true though; she tends to use certain words to subtly undermine the opponent who beats a Chinese player. But it's not only her; a lot of the other male commentators tend to also be rather bitter when the Chinese players lose. I guess it's to do with national pride; but then again, it goes to show that the lot of them are nationalistic morons!

  • @user-cp3ju2fz4z

    Ai Fukuhara plays really the
    Butterfly Ai Fukuhara Pro ZLF Blade
    and also Butterfly Rubber on Red for sure
    Butterfly says it should be the Tenergy 25
    to see on 10:36 the Red should be a Tenergy
    the black Rubber still unknown, but I think from her playing style it is the same as on Red.
    Someone correct me ?

    • @user-cp3ju2fz4z
      @user-cp3ju2fz4z Před 9 lety

      Thanks, ah interesting, now on both sides or just backhand ?
      A lot of near the table player switch backhand to short or medium pimps , Mima Ito did so too.
      And I never heard about Armstrong products also very interesting.

    • @user-cp3ju2fz4z
      @user-cp3ju2fz4z Před 9 lety

      Song An Lê
      I think it is still the Tenergy 25, on FH (Butterfly reports.)
      The 25 is specially made for Topspin-Play near the table,
      what Ai Fukuhara loves to play.
      Ai Fukuhara is an Idol for Mima and the playing style of Mima is a bit similar to Ai, but Mima likes more playing with interference effect and Ai focus more on speed and control.
      And Mima is no more a junior I would say it was close, but yes she did loose the final double in the Spanish Open this year VS Ai Fukuhara, but she did Winny Win Win Woman Single on the German Open this year.
      \(^ ^)/
      And every time when there are not many Chinese Players, Mima reaches positions near the final or into the finals.

      Yes, the moderator did say this, I do not think she did change the rubber
      Back Hand: Nittaku Moristo SP is a short pips one.
      When she did change the rubber on backhand, then I do not know which one she does play now, but it was the Moristo SP a short time ago.
