How to Lower A Husqvarna Or KTM

  • In the video I show how to Lower a Husqvarna or KTM that has the linkage rear suspension system. When I bought my Husqvarna FE350 I specifically chose that bike and not the identical KTM EXC 350F because of the Link suspension that can be easily modified and lowered with a simple link change. Being 5" 10 in height I thought it would be a better choice to buy. John and I swapped the link and dropped the bike by 2.5 inch aprox..
    Very easy install and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.
    ------------------------
    Here re some of the things I used in this video:
    Zeta lowering link - amzn.to/2H7aiec
    The camera I use the most - My smartphone - Pixel 3 : amzn.to/2keVbCZ
    For motovlogs and sport scenes I use the SJCAM SJ6 - amzn.to/2CKZGQU

    Thank you for posting this, it made the decision to buy the Husky FE 350 much easier. Even before installing this lowering link, my husband said this was simply the best dirt bike he's ever owned, and he's been riding in the dirt over 50 years. His first Husky was in 1970.
    He's 5'8" and of course wanted to touch the ground; your video has also made installation much easier (no instructions came with the part).

    Hey hey crazy dudes. Thanks for this video. I need to lower my KTM 640 dule sport. Not to be flat footed but to get my but in the seat. My age 56, I'm 6 ft 6, cant do the lift the leg high enough thing anymore.
    I will definitely remember the 85nM torque on the bolts and nuts :)

      Everything you do to your rear suspension causes different handling adjustments. Rather you do the front or not. Some people prefer a swing when riding. Some people like the lean.

  • @izmesamsung2581
    @izmesamsung2581 Před rokem +3

    You're done.... now take it out again and reassemble but this time with grease, quite a lot in fact, waterproof grease preferably!
    Any linkage must be properly lubricated, and your vid skips this completely: fooi man!
    Then, when you've done that, you'll next raise the stanchions an inch through the triples surely, to obtain the proper steering settings again?
    You need to do that, one cannot lower a bike only front or rear as this affects the steering geometry negatively.
    Oh, setting the various sags at the rear is also a must, so do that when the front is lowered too.... and only when all that is done measure the seatheight.

    I went back to the stock pull arm link of my YZ250, and did what I needed to do with the shock and fork, (about .75" less travel). I found that with the longer links, it does not shorten the wheel travel, but just shifts it,----into your fender. So it would be like hitting the brake if you bottom it out on the fender, (which is probably a real bad time to hit the rear brake), while beating on the fender and sub frame. My almost expert opinion, (if you want the most functional bike possible), I think it is better to stick with the stock link and lower the bike elsewhere. Me and that bike are going to get along real well this summer. :)

    I'm going with a Beta to avoid using the dog bones. I can have the seat height lowered 1.6" that they do inhouse and it only affects the travel but does not mess with the geometry of the bike. For my style of riding, I seriously doubt I will miss the travel. It's pretty reasonably priced if ordered through their suspension shop. Betas have a lower seat height anyway compared to the Japanese or KTM/Husky. There's also the option of a lower seat from Seat concepts or Enduro Engineering. That will give you another .6".

    Thanks for the video Sandy! May I ask you how did the rear shock behavior change? Some people are telling me that it becomes stiffer? Is it really so and does this link make the bike uncomfortable or strange to ride ? Did you have to change the forks setup as well ? Thanks for help. Alberto

    • @HOLYSHIFT
      @HOLYSHIFT  Před 4 lety +7
