The only reason English is considered truly harder than other languages is because it doesn't have a phonetic orthography. But considering just the spoken language or if the written form were phonetic, English has many things that are more simplified in comparison to other languages when considering grammatical cases, verb conjugations, etc. Many irregularities exist in all languages. The most commonly used verbs in many languages have irregular forms. Lang's have many idioms, dialects, etc.

Honestly, if it weren't for conflicting "noun genders" learning German would be pretty easy. I have always spoken English, and my mom and younger sister can only speak English (but my sister is trying to learn Japanese, which is pretty awesome). I've learned Spanish and can speak fluently, but I never really took interest in it because I had a hard time connecting to it. In my opinion, if you can speak English + another language, every language you learn after is much easier. I've started teaching myself German (because I LOVE the German rock scene) and Korean because Kpop and Kdramas are very interesting. And from there, if you work hard, it gets easier :)))
If you want to learn another language, just submerge yourself in it!
Want to learn Korean? Watch Kdramas!
Want to learn Spanish? Try Telenovelas!
Want to learn Japanese? HELLO!? ANIME!!!
It's probably impossible to learn entirely that way, but the best way to get started is to be familiar with it. Just being able to distinguish one word from another (even if you don't know the meaning) is the first step!! Good luck :)

TheMightyKawama like I said, it's simply a way to become familiar with the language. It's impossible to learn entirely, but it is a great way to kinda take a "crash course"

My ignorant ass (not fully bio) fam tried to ask if I was a Nazi for learning a language that's "not useful" instead of caring that its my heritage. I'm 90% German but was born raised 2nd generation American.

In English, the "GH" at the end of enough makes the "F" sound
the "O" in women makes the short "i" sound
and "TI" in nation makes the "SH" sound
So GHOTI is pronounced like FISH. English is, by fay, the hardest language to learn.

En algunos sentidos, el ingles es una simplifacion del aleman (casos gramaticales, conjugacion, por ejemplo) pero en algunos sentidos el ingles es mas dificil (ortografia, por ejemplo).

Pronunciation doesn't automatically make a language difficult to learn. You would think that French is extremely difficult with the difference between pronunciation and writing, but then comes the grammar and lowers the difficulty. Sure, pronunciation is very important, but so is grammar. Hearing a word once helps a lot when pronouncing it, but grammar takes "a little" more than that.

The dots don't actually lengthen the letter, they... They're just a part of an individual letter. Like in German you have the double S and umlaut-U (Ü) letters. Also, A and Ä (+ O and Ö) sound quite different... So the dotted A doesn't have anything to do with the "dotless" A.

Mandarin is its own language thought. In English you have German, Greek, french, just to name a few influences.. For example, does the "S" always make the "s" sound? No, and there is atlease one other sequence of letters that make the same sound ("ce"). In languages like mandarin, or Japanese (cause I know a little of the latter), words are spelt how they are said, English doesn't do that and that makes it more complicated to learn.

All European languages excluding Finnish, Estonia, Basque, Saami and Hungarian are Indo-European and English has twice as many Germanic words than it does Latin that are used by the average English speaker, excluding advanced scientific terminology, etc.. You can call English a Hybrid but most definitely not a Romantic language.
