My interpretation of the rose parade is that eliots describing the ridiculous nature of the rose parade.he "marched down the street like a durecell bunny", In a sort of comical way. Just to come to a meaningless parade that the people are distracting themselves with. Shelting themselves from the reality of life, when some of the people can't even afford food "traded a smoke for a food stamp doller". And he sees through the frivolous nature of the parade, you can tell by the tone in which he is singing, it's in such and unexciting and uninspiring lens. "Its just that everyone's interest is stronger than mine" i think in this song his expressing his emptiness, nihilism, depression and despair. While others are enjoying the parade he'll be 'the only shit that's left behind'. He could also be describing the absurd nature of a capital society. Lower class people, slaves in 'choke chain collars' enjoying such an idiotic distraction such as a rose parade. 'Throwing out candy that looks like money
This is the saddest, most relatable song known to man. I genuinely can’t listen to it without crying. What profound loneliness you must have to write something like this. And how cutting it is that so many of us can relate. God save us.

I used to hear all his lyrics as serious/sad until I listened to an interview with a heatmiser bandmate - I’m forgetting exactly who, I think Tony Lash - talking about st ides heaven, the line “everyone is a fucking pro…” which had been such a gut punch to me. He was laughing, talking about how funny Elliott was, and how songs like that one were reminders. It made me realize, however deeply I connected to the music, I didn’t know him and all the layers that went into making these songs. And especially since the popular image of Elliott smith, even for people who barely know who he is, is depressed, drug addicted etc. I like to mention the many other sides. It’s helped me appreciate the music even more.

I'm not sure how much you care, but I'm sure you'd get a decent following though still quite niche if you posted shorter form videos of these or edit a small clip that you like the best out of these videos and upload them to TikTok I'd wager quite a few people would appreciate those things. Great work with these they're fantastic and incredibly useful resources.
