After watching so many episodes of Hello Counselor, I get the vibe most Koreans wants to/must fit in, to have something similar with everyone. Those who are different are ostracized, bullied, or in this case, highlighted as a concern. Here (in USA anyway), parents tends to nurture these uniqueness, believing in "You are your own person" mentality. I'm not saying which culture is right or wrong, but I find it interesting (such vast difference in child rearing methods). As for the music genre preference, the boy is right, K-pop these days are not as heart wrenching or meaningful as the old ones. Almost every song is about love. Personally, I think this is an old soul trapped in a young body. Instead of stopping him, perhaps parents should encourage his genre (with the caveat he will graduate from high school). After all, his own lyrics are really meaningful. Idol groups can cater to all walks of life, he can do the same as well. I'm pretty sure the elderlies will purchase his albums :)

I came here after watching this kid(The Kid who loves trot songs) guest on Return of Superman in today's episode 4/28/2020 in Hao and Kang Gary's house. Year 2013 His mom sent and came to this show thinking it was a concern. But now 2020 He is actually a well known Trot Singer in Korea. This proves that not all mother knows best for their child. Sometimes you should let and support your child's dream even if you don't want it for him.
Personally I think the only concern with the first concern was that the he grades dropped. Other than that think It was courageous of him not to want to conform an standing by what he likes.

Society can sometimes suppress talent, originality, and genius. I don’t know of any exceptional person who had a “normal” adolescence. It seems to me that great people have always stood out, gone against the grain, and cultivated their talents through thousands of hours of study and practice. It appears like obsessive and abnormal behavior to “ordinary” folk.
Regarding the first concern. I get it if the family worries about school and friends because the teenage life is really tough at times..especially when it comes to confidence and to 'fit in.' Grades aren't proportionate to success. A lot of billionaires didn't care about grades. You can't say you know what's best for a child. And yes, the main problem is that the parents are punishing him for being unique - his grades are just a part of it. I didn't know KARA before watching this, but they honestly showed the most active and caring interaction I've seen from any idol in the show. To top it off they all seem really bright, mentally strong and fun to hang out with, all the more impressive as they're pretty young at the time of recording. I'm so amazed! So I rushed to IG to give the group a follow, but of course they've split already! I even learnt Jiyoung didn't stick around until the end and that the group suffered while looking for multiple replacements over the years. Such a shame, but I will keep my end of the bargain and support the girls still. That's how strong an impression they left me in this episode!
the problem with the boy is not his obsession with Old Songs it's his inability to interact with kids his own age and the fact that he doesn't study. As a teenager I was a huge Opera fan, loved Rock music and Bollywood but i still knew how to interact and not alienate people. He seems like all he talks about is that stuff when everyone his age is listening and talking about Kara and new artist he can't relate they can't relate to him further alienating himself.

Well, the concern is the fact that his grades were very low. Excluding that, I saw no concern with him. In fact, if my kids were like him, by trying to have their own unique personalities and styles, I would feel really proud.

I didn't know KARA before watching this, but they honestly showed the most active and caring interaction I've seen from any idol in the show. To top it off they all seem really bright, mentally strong and fun to hang out with, all the more impressive as they're pretty young at the time of recording. I'm so amazed!
So I rushed to IG to give the group a follow, but of course they've split already! I even learnt Jiyoung didn't stick around until the end and that the group suffered while looking for multiple replacements over the years. Such a shame, but I will keep my end of the bargain and support the girls still. That's how strong an impression they left me in this episode!

the problem with the boy is not his obsession with Old Songs it's his inability to interact with kids his own age and the fact that he doesn't study. As a teenager I was a huge Opera fan, loved Rock music and Bollywood but i still knew how to interact and not alienate people. He seems like all he talks about is that stuff when everyone his age is listening and talking about Kara and new artist he can't relate they can't relate to him further alienating himself.

Myung-sub was 5 years younger than me at the time of filming, but even at such a young age he expresses the emotions of the songs amazingly
i side with the 15 yr old son than his mom because he should be celebrated for his individuality and talent, not stifled to fit in (there are millions of teenage guys who fit the mold but pretty rare to have a cool son who relates to old songs) xT....hara's advice to tall girl about losing weight pissed me off, she's freaking fine and healthy and i do hope she finds a great guy, her friend don't seem ready to swallow his pride....the sister of dog owner should have won because i think her sister is "abusing" her sister and the dog and i don't take pet responsibility lightly!!
It made me sad when the 15yr old son was apologizing to his mom at the end of his segment. I mean, except the fact that his grades were low, I see no problem with him trying to get his own personality, music tastes and an unique style. May God bless him.

My opinion for concern:
1. I think he must keep his interest to old songs. Coz he is different. He is unique. But,he should listen to these days trends too. So he can adapt with public.
2. I really can't forgive the older sister. How can a dog is more important than her own little sister?
3. I hope she will meet her soulmate soon. She deserve a love. She is a woman too. She doesn't want to be too tall too (i think this sentence is a little strange,but u know what i mean gight? My english is not that good).
4. I am the oldest child in my family. I do make my dongsaengs to run errand. But, she is too much. Moreover,lying in the bed all day long is not good for health. Moving around is good for health.

I’m so glad that TROS introduced me to Cho Myungsub. He’s such a talented young man. I think in a way his mom did him a favour by introducing him to the world and making his talent more well-known through this show 😂 I’m really glad things worked out for him though because not many people turn out becoming successful when chasing their passion in life. here in India.......there was an old singer by the name kishore kumar.......i still sing his songs......i personally find no problem in the boy in the first concern....... i wonder whats wrong with his mother?its far better than being spoiled....
Well, the concern is the fact that his grades were very low. Excluding that, I saw no concern with him. In fact, if my kids were like him, by trying to have their own unique personalities and styles, I would feel really proud.
