I thought that we decided we didn't care how many kids die, that the right to own a weapon was all that mattered. Anyone who wanted a gun, had the right to own as many guns and whatever kind of gun they wanted. Isn't that what we decided? What has changed today? In 2021 there were at least 377 unintentional shootings by children. This resulted in 154 deaths and 242 injuries in the United States. What about justice for these kids? From 2006-2016, almost 6,885 people in the U.S. died from unintentional shootings. In 2016 alone, there were 495 incidents of accidental firearm deaths. The majority of people killed in firearm accidents are under age 24, and most of these young people are being shot by someone else, usually someone their own age. Were all of these shooters prosecuted? Were the parents? What is so different today than it was yesterday? We need to figure out what we care the most about because this child is not the first and she won't be the last of an accidental shooting. Putting an 11 year old in jail will not stop it. Do we really, really want to stop these children from dying?

In 2021, a recorded 1,244 people died because they tried to violate a person that used a firearm to protect themself. Armed citizens kill 1,527 criminals a year, police officers kill 606. However, citizens only have a 2% error rate, while police have an 11% error rate. FBI crime stats show that concealed carry leads to a decrease in rape. Women use firearms to defend against sexual assault an average 200,000 times per year. Most studies show & even according to the CDC, Americans use their firearms defensively between 500,000 and 3 million times every year. Most incidences happen outside the home & the individual doesn't even have to fire one shot. Kids getting their hands on guns is a parenting problem. Also in 2021, for children drowning is the second leading cause of death after birth defects, with three dying every day, and it is the second leading cause of accidental death after vehicle crashes for ages 1 to 14. So lets not pretend this about saving children. If everyone's so concerned about their safety then let's figure out what's causing these birth defects & let's come together & help these kids learn how to swim. Get after these people that refuse to put down their phones while driving & get rid of these prosecutors & politicians that are letting criminals run the streets. Let's stop making it look like a bad thing to stay at home & take care of a house, husband, & kids & stop ridiculing the women that do. Guns aren't the problem. Every tyrannical leader in all of earths history, came to power after taking weapons from the people.
