If you two crazy adventurous kids ever get back to Australia, you might find Katoomba and Leura in the Blue Mountains interesting. There are some beautiful old retro guest houses in the area to stay at and the Mountains in all their glory can be seen from the main part of Katoomba.

They are called cairns and they are placed in strategic spots so you don't get lost. I think most people now-a-days just build them for fun.
