Well now you've done it. You actually showed a use for a Master Lock #3. They are no longer completely useless (let's see your ziptie break the BRK lock).
I was referring mostly to the idea that using a ziptie in place of a Master Lock #3 was a good idea, but it not having the heft to smash the BRK open. ;)
You could probably tie the ziptie through one shackle, wind it around the other shackle and pull. That weak twist attack would probably be enough force to break the shackle.
@@dylanchadderton1 It's designed to secure things like power shutoff switches and fire hose connections so that the fire department can break through it quickly in an emergency. It's meant only to stop passers-by from tampering with such equipment.
To be fair, the standard method of opening a lock you don't have keys for has been destruction for a long time now. There's a reason Master hasn't put any real effort into upgrading lock design for 50+ years.
"Whenever I get a package of Master Locks, I make it my duty to continue the strength and robustness of Master Locks as a species. To this end, I hold Master Lock duels. "
To be fair, it worked as designed. I had the pleasure of using them on a very, very large construction site for fire protection. They were meant for tamper resistance only. It prevented workers from going into fire panels or opening a valve to get water on the construction site. Yet, it was very easy to tell that somebody had tampers with something. The locks made it so that you could inspect the equipment without destroying the lock. We later changed over to wire seals that were cut off with standard wire cutters, which required new seals every time. In the event of an emergency, onsite and off site emergency responders could easily access the "locked" equipment if they didn't have the correct key.
Yup- If this were made the typical Master lock way, the breakaway part wouldn't have broken. Look at their LOTO locks. Plastic body, non-hardened shackle... 6 pin core with security pins.

We have these locks on our water mains and dry valves(type of fire sprinkler valve that uses air to hold back water) in the factory where I work. We usually just grab them with a pair or channel lock pliers and twist. Snap right off without putting up much of a fight.
