There's a bunch of sick heartless monsters in this comment thread talking about how evil this mom is and how it's child abuse and how she's putting money before her kids and it makes me sick that such souless creatures exist. She was homeless, desperate, in need of a job to take care of her kids, and her babysitter she had lined up ended up going bust. If she really truly believed the interview would only be about 15 minutes, which, contrary to popular belief, is actually fairly common for the majority of entry level and blue collar jobs out there, not Fortune 500 company positions, then it's reasonable to think l believe the kids would be fine for that short period of time in a car in the morning before the sun really starts cooking, and she even cracked the windows. She probably should've left the car running and the A/C going but she might've been very low on gas and couldn't waste it or might have been worried about getting locked out of the car with the babies in it or concerned that somebody might steal the car while it's running, all of which are completely understandable concerns to have in leaving the car running. The only thing she did wrong as far as I'm concerned was not pausing the interview after about the 20-30 minute mark and explaining that her kids were outside and she needed to take care of them or bring them inside. It's possible she didn't outright ask them to let the kids in with her because they might be left unattended in an adjacent room and be noisy or roudy for the staff, or possibly she was concerned that it would look bad on her that if she couldn't even get a babysitter for a job interview they might see her as unreliable in getting proper babysitting arrangements for the actual job, or something along those lines, which are also understandable concerns.
It's a shame she was arrested and charged with child abuse but I'm glad people were sympathetic to her situation and sent her money to help her out and get those kids taken care of properly.
