“The faster I ran , the slower I became” - this is an apt statement for our spiritual journey towards enlightenment.
I don't know about that, I tend to make more progress when I run fast! That bit was funny and relatable in regards to dreams though. I've had that happen a ton. Still, relaxation is important in practice, just not always in my experience. Have to learn the proper balance.
100% the wanting and searching pushes you further back. Take your time, EASY DOES IT. Enjoy each moment, fulfillment is now, open to it.
Since the last episode I have searched out Delson's teachings regarding Bhante Vimalaramsa's TWIM method and the way he teaches it is so clear and simple that my practice has gotten a lot better and simpler. I am excited to watch this episode Christmas morning. Much gracious thank yous to both Steve James and Delson Armstrong! You both are doing such good.
So glad to hear it. Can you talk a little about how TWIM has helped?
TWIM has also helped me enormously. The simplicity of the method is wonderful. It helps us to let go of hindrances in an easy way, and to uplift the mind to a higher state while also transcending the mind and mind states altogether into a field of pure conscious awareness. This does take some practice, but is not complicated or complex.

@@JoshuaRichardson123 Well it has corroborated my intuition that there is a Universal Buddha Dharma regardless of sects. The TWIM method reminds me of Mahamudra so much, but all the dogma of Tibetan Buddhism which says that Theravada or foundational Buddhism is a lesser teaching or Hinayana seemed like Dogma to me. It helped me realize that the highest teachings in Tibetan Buddhism were right in line with exactly how the Buddha taught. Such an easy natural way to practice shamatha and the jhanas. I have been suspicious of the view many teachers have that the jhana practice is necessarily very hard. Now my intuition has been corroborated and I practice simply with confidence that I am on the right path regardless of what all the other teachers say from their biases. TWIM also reminds me of Dzogchen a bit, where the hindrances are liberated merely by recognizing them as they arise, like popping bubbles with a feather. Self-liberation upon recognition. @@thehiddenyogi8557 yes i found that as well. Many of the “highest” most secret teachings are right there in the suttas! All that talk about lesser vehicles was some kind of defense mechanism for a monastery, school etc…

All of these attainments are very nice and very good, but the core of the Buddha’s teaching is in the way we treat other living beings.
Another great interview and a promise of another one yet to come. Delson is extraordinarily articulate about topics most of us can barely discuss yet he makes them real, relatable and exciting and with the desire to do so, attainable. The internet is an amazing place.
I spiritually geeked out on that episode. I know someone would say that we should not focus on siddhis, that it is all illusion, but this is cool regardless. Thank you, Delson and Guru Viking for sharing.

This is going to be great and in one way a big contrast from the last episode because in the last one Steve really zeroed in on the claim of no heart rate vs what the scientists measured. I can't think of a good way to bring that level of questioning and skepticism to this episode's topics without it being hilarious to listen to.
That wouldn't probably make a good interview. Usually if some people talk about power realms e.g. supernatural things or their beliefs and experiences with them, it's best if the interviewer doesn't take a stance on it but just asks about it and listens. The viewer can make their own judgements

Steve James. Amazing interview as always, definitely looking forward to more series like these. There are lots of specific questions to be asked based on Delson’s books/materials for more advanced stages--no-nonsense discussion on those are hard to find elsewhere in most places. (e.g. micro-phenomenlogical patterns of entrance before cessation or in between 8th and 9th jhana, meaning of path and fruition of sotapanna, difference between cessation and contact with nirvana element, identification with post-cessation relief as sokadami vs anagami etc.) .it would be great if there are more detailed discussion on those.

It’s like swimming.. if you never have and someone throws you in the water (the water representing any element or sidhi you have never been exposed to) there is some unnecessary overexertion from lack of experience, confidence, and comfort. Then being exposed you gain experience then comfort but the key is the confidence. It’s the knowing that you can w no doubt . When you learn to ride a bike you don’t put effort into cultivating the balance
So gonna share something interesting here. Maybe someone who reads this gets something out of it. At 1:08:52 Delson goes on to talk about the neither perception nor non-perception state of mind and he talks about it for 1 minute. During this minute you can hear weird background noises (the first one at 1:08:57), as if something else is being picked up. This ends as soon as he goes over to the next state of mind around 1:09:55. I took this as a sign to research that state some more :)
With each experience/moments of the true self something dies… ask yourself what is it that dies? Once you understand this you’re on the highway to enlightenment… or call it limitless freedom…

Pretty cool show, interesting and informative, but the fake backdrop is soooo tacky and low level, really blemishes your image.
I googled that „13 NDE" guy Greg Halpern. I think he is an evident fraud. He offers some magical teaching on how to become rich. But if everyone got rich nobody would work and the society would collapse. Also the fact that Mr. Delson is intetested in his teaching (based on silly stories) indicates that he is not free from craving and clinging (to money).
I haven't looked into Greg, so I can't speak to the efficacy of his wealth program, but in theory any method for getting rich would cause society to collapse if everybody did it, regardless of if it worked or not.

In my opinion, on the contrary, we should choose our teachers very carefully, and there are clear disqualifying criteria in many wise books. Otherwise we will fall prey to a cultist or a psychopath.
