25k seats at even 100.00 per ticket brings an easy 2.5 million.
Merch sales are huge.
The venues generally just make their cut on concessions and hardly anything off tickets.
I'm pretty sure you can hold a concert for 2 million+ and still come out very profitable after paying for the crew trucks, etc.
People need to show some restraint and stop paying these prices (they won't ) and as attendance declines then so will prices, but sadly this will never happen and people will continue to get gouged.
every artists goes through their "we need money" tours and this is just their time
I saw them for free at "Drop in the Park" back in 92.
*sigh* People have no idea how ticket pricing works.
90% of tickets sold for $185 when they hit the market. The remaining 10% are the “premium prices” that Ticketmaster inflates which is what we see now.
All you have to do is pick your show, wait until a few weeks prior, then go on fan-to-fan resale and you’ll get tickets for slightly above face value or possibly even face value.
We go through this every tour and I still don’t understand how people can’t figure this out.
I’m approaching 50 which is average age for your diehard Pearl Jam fan who grew up on them. It could be that we are just too old to know this stuff. My teenage niece had to explain this to me years ago so I’m betting that’s it.
I’ve only got tickets through the Ten Club lottery once and sure that was great because I got tickets at face value the day they went on sale. For all other tours/tickets I went on fan-to-fan resale and paid SLIGHTLY above face value a few weeks before the show. I have no doubt I’ll do this again for this tour.
They play 20 shows in the U.S. and nearly all are at basketball arenas so 25Kish capacity. The demand far outweighs the supply.
So relax internet. Pick your show, monitor the fan-to-fan exchange, be patient, and you should get tickets at a fair price.

$185 is not a fair price. For most working class people it's way outside what they can afford.
So, who actually is the one pocketing the high price? Is it the band, did they set the price...or is it venue and ticketmaster? When I tried getting tickets during preorder, the tickets went in a flash and all I could grab were $670 ea (front row balcony). Had a chance for a $150 seat, but, it was behind the stage and you can't see crap. I've never seen them and missed the last few tours, so, I expected to pay a lot, but, even this was over my expectations, especially with a preorder. Oh well, hope the show in Seattle will be worth it.
Who knew they were still a band?
Oh so since they are the only one that set their career back trying to take on Ticketmaster they are now going to get more shit for letting the free market dictate prices? Everybody else that did nothing get a pass?
Fact is seats are limited and fan base isn't young and broke anymore.
I want a Ferrari but can't afford it, shame on Ferrari!
The backlash is not against the band. It’s against Ticketmaster. And you’re naïve to think that this is “free market” pricing. The free market goes away when a monopoly enters the picture.
Sell outs!
I wouldn't pay $5 to see them.
