Man I was high asf the first time I watched this..I just moved to L.A. and Underworld Blood Wars wasn't even released but I could watch it on the same website as Assassin's Creed, Resident evil Final Chapter and The Girl with all the Gifts..I always watched good movies by myself..if blunts made bad movies interesting, imagine how you feel about a good movie like this. I didn't even know Michael Fassbender was playing the Assassin until I watched it like 3xs I kept rewinding the fighting and escape scenes before the it went to the next chapter..This one of those movies you probably randomly watch and realize it's food

The reasons they made the animus a robot arm thing, was to make it more interesting. Looking at a dude laying on a table or sitting in a chair for half the movie is hardly interesting for an audience. Not sure if this was the best solution they could've taken, but idk, I don't really mind the animus looking different as the animus has been different multiple times in the games

i had the same question as you did Perry, why the fuck was he in jail for?, and by the time you finish asking yourself that they are already putting him on the animus , wtf?! they clearly wanted to go to the lets show ppl "the videogame stuff" but even that didnt look good to me. hope sometime soon we get a good movie of AC or even GoW, two franchises that lend themselves for a movie adaptation i think

At the beginning of the movie when dude gets his finger cut off, what is the significance of that? Was it from one of the games?
SPOILER ALERT:
ever since Bayek (ac origins) lost his finger by accident with the first redactable blade (the assassin brotherhood is assumed to be founded by bayek and aya) the later assassins cut off their fingers voluntarily to show commitment. Altair ibn La’Ahad (AC1) later invented a new pair of redactable blades which do not interfere with the fingers. But the cutting of fingers stayed for some time

Personally I liked the movie, despite having some small issues with it. Unfortunately people were on such a "it needs to all be in the past" hype that they just disregarded the movie outright. The music in particular is excellent.
but i will say that the movie was underwhelming compared to the games
Yeah the movie was cool to see but they could of pulled more from the game story and made a fantastic film
To your point though, the main character is NOT Desmond. This is not Desmond's story they're telling ^^; it's a completely separate guy. So while I get you saying "they should've made him a bartender", that's Desmond's story ^^;
The main guy in this movie is Cal Lynch. He saw his dad kill his mom back when he was a kid, and from that and the scene where he's on death row in jail, we can infer that his childhood/adulthood basically was filled with crime, one of which was a murder.
