Tantôt si elle cause politique et social, elle pioche ici et là des influences tout en continuant à mettre en avant ses racines musicales maliennes, et en cherchant l’ouverture vers d’autre sons et d'autres musiques en leur donnant un relief où la douceur se confronte à son jeu de guitare ultra-contemporain.
En fait, Fatoumata Diawara est en train d’ouvrir un chemin qui se joue des stéréotypes, puisqu'elle a partagé la scène aux côtés de Bobby Womack, Herbie Hancock, Damon Albarn, Paul McCartney, ou avec le pianiste cubain Roberto Foncesca mais aussi Mathieu Chedid qui a d'ailleurs coproduit “Fenfo” ! ...
