People getting dragged into the fog seems so random, it kind of makes me wonder just how casually all of them could have been killed out of nowhere. Imagine if Takuma got grabbed at any point. I think the element of that instant-death fog was kind of a disservice to the threat of the actual digimon. I think that's why Shuuji's death is the most impactful, because it's not the fog that gets him.

    • @Viseak
      @Viseak  Před rokem +190

I agree Shuujis death was definitely the most impactful, but I don’t reckon the concept of the fog does the digimon a disservice, if anything I think it just makes the whole atmosphere a lot more tense, hard for anyone to catch a break with the constant threat of the fog looming over
Although I can’t lie, I do wish we had a little more gruesome or dangerous monsters in survive, something like Dioboromon wouldn’t of gone astray
There was also supposedly a cut part of the game, where Agumon evolved into Skullgreymon and literally killed everyone as an ending, would’ve been crazy to see that

    • @Milloeuf
      @Milloeuf Před rokem +64

@@Viseak You're right, I should rephrase. It just feels odd to me how the fog seemed to arbitrarily appear, like why did it only get Saki in one route and didn't even get close to her in the others when they were at the exact same place with the same battle happening. That's the kind of faux pas I tend to dislike in multiple route games. But in the grand scheme of things it's not that important, many other things were done right (like Aoi's different mindset depending on if Takuma has proven to be reliable or too impulsive through the game)
I agree with your point of the fog adding a lot of tension, it just could have tried to be a bit more consistent in how it was working is all I think.

I'll disagree on Kaito becoming murderous in Harmony route to be out of character for him. Remember that back in Part 4, he beaten up Piyomon, Palmon & Patamon, to the point that a meek-at-that-time Aoi called him out for essentially beating the crap out of kindergartners. If this was his first reaction when Miu was just missing, then death of his sister could very much push him to do much worse actions.

    • @yexe9129
      @yexe9129 Před rokem +80

And on top of that, Kaito is the one who didn't get over...that event, meaning that the, let's face it, emotionally unstable Kaito would go berserk if his one anchor to stability dies. Another note that adds onto this is that Kaito is a very wrathful type character, action, not talk, which makes sense if he'd also get annoyed with a Takuma who would prioritize everyone getting along over doing what's best or taking action.

    • @StarryOak76
      @StarryOak76 Před rokem +69

Plus, when we get info on what happened in the past to them, you can see that Miu’s stalker is pretty fucking severely beaten; there’s blood on him in places where you’d have to beat someone pretty bad to get blood coming out of there. Kaito isn’t being out of character, rather, he’s reverting over the course of the route to his previous behavior, when he was growing out of it slowly during the rest of the game.
Note how when he just got Boltboutamon, and Takuma tries to tell him it’s not what Miu would want, Kaito accuses him of being sexually attracted to Miu; he’s severely traumatized by what happened to them and clearly can’t imagine the idea someone could know Miu better than him without wanting to rape her too.

@@DrawciaGleam02 Personally, I'm not a fan of human vs digimon thing, like it was in Digimon Savers/Data Squad, where a teenager was able to knock down giant powerful digimon with a punch.
It misses the point of digimon being mighty dangerous creatures, and comes across as if a puny human kicked a Godzilla's ass, which is dumb.
However, I don't mind it in Digimon Survive (and to lesser extent Adventure, when Tai beats down Bakemon), as the digimon Kaito beats up are Rookies/weak digimon, who are about on the same power level as humans. And one instance where a human tried to overpower a more powerful Digimon, that human ends up getting thrown off the edge, which came across far more natural and I appreciate that.

What I do like about the combat is how the ways in which the Digimon play reflects the personalities of their partners. Kunemon is hard to use in combat because Ryo isn't a team player, Falcomon is a movement type battler who can easily reach the other end of the map, but without care will get himself into trouble, like how Minoru has good ideas that don't pan out due to lack of foundation. Labramon's a healer, but her evolutions are more offensive, which I think reflects Aoi's growing mindset about what needs to happen.

Little tidbit, we localized evolution to digivolution specifically because of the huge religious backlash during the 90s into the early 00s against the idea of evolution, witchcraft and anything else "non-Christian" in the US. After seeing how there were a decent number of people protesting Pokemon for using evolution, they altered it just a bit to see if it would fly under the radar and change the "idea" that it's enforcing evolution to being a change in data (which isn't really wrong all things considered).

Actually it was like that from the very beggining. This worldbuilding is based off of Adventure. Adventure kickstarted the Neoplatonic emanationism anime fantasy setting. The Digimon in Adventure are the same as the ones in Survive. They became Digimon with the advent of the internet but they are actually the other half of their partners souls. They were initially yokai, shikigami, demons or spirits that manifested through magic or sorcery or have been subjugated trough onmyodo. Now this manifestation takes place trough Digital means. They are ethereal beings that became tangile and visible with tehnology.

Warning this is a long comment, which means there will be a lot of reading.
This man clearly did alot in the making of this masterpiece of a video so to give my thanks I will explain to you guys what happened in the truthful route to leet this guy rest and catch his breath.
First story starts as normal all the way until we make it to the school. But one small different action which butterfly effects into a completely different timeline.
Instead of us letting ryo fester in his insanity we give him that helping hand he clearly needed. Which leads to him actually bonding with kunemon as ryo actually learns to understand the unique way kunemon speaks as if the two were communicating telepathically.
Because of this kunemon and takuma and actually make it in time to pull ryo away from the hands in the mist. And with that ryo gets to pull himself together and is shown that he is actually a shy kid who is misunderstood and is mistaken for a delinquent.
Which leads to shuuji feeling even worse sinse now there is another person against him as ryo is even more vocal of how he dislikes shuuji's leadership which boils over with ryo no longer standing the way he treats lopmon and actually attacks him for beating lopmon during the scene that would had lead to the dark digivolution into wendigomon.
Which forces shuuji to accept that he was the problem all along as lopmon continues to try a bond with shuuji. Shuuji breaks down, apologies and unlocks lopmon's true evolution tururiemon.
With shuuji alive a different argument causes the drift between minoru and falcomon, is that minoru starts feeling a sense of distrust because of all the enemy kemonogami coming after them starts to think that falcomon is a double agents.
The same happens in which the two reconsile and go through the rest of the story all the way to the fight with piedmon in which garurumon is more present than in the other routes.
The same happens as it int the real world and at first it plays out as if it were the moral route with the inclusion of ryo and shuuji.
And let me tell you all from experience I did not care for them when they died and in my opinion they deserved their fate but after they survive their close call with death they go trough an astonishing character arc and genuinely become likeable characters not to mention it's because of them that Miu and saki survive as they were close to them and pulled away from the hands in the mist.
And because jijimon survived he tells them of the four souvenirns kemonogami
Which lead to us hunting down and passing the trials of azulongmon, zuqiamon, ebowumon and bahiumon. Which both renaming and gabumon permanently join the group.
And the four kemonogami and their partners reveal to us the truth.
That eyeball machine thing that we have been calling the master is just the outer shell of the true beast
And just like Aoi in wrathful route it is shown to us that the master is a kemonogami dark bio merged with his human and the true identity of the master's human partner is haruchika, the younger brother of the ancient matriarch of the family that professor haru and Miyuki belong to.
Sinse the walls between the two world was weakened the screens of every digital device was hijacked making almost everyone tin the world see the final boss fight.
And their cheering is giving the kemonogami their hopes making them stronger. Strong enough to beat the true form of the master.
    Fanglongmon.
Both kemonogami and human who compose the master are calmed down and pass on in peace.
Here the kids do not say goodbye to their partners as they go to live with them in their homes. They mentioned how much agumon loves takuma's mom's curry.
Sinse the two worlds are slowly merging the kemonogami or digimon as the people started calling them, slowly every single person on earth is meeting their Destined partners in a rate that everyone is growing a customed to the change.
And it ends with another kid as he meets his partner, a demiveemon.
    -
Now for my personal opinion: I can understand why some would dislike this ending but for me I like it because how it feel earned. Like how we work to get the true pacifist ending in Undertale.
He have no choice but to go down one of the three routes where no matter what we do we will always lose allies. But here becauce we made the active choice to try again to try and make the active choice to save everyone it feel like s happy ending that we earn because of genuine effort and it paid off in the end. That why love this ending so much.

The first season still is one of my favorites, along with 02 and Tamers. Those three stand hand in hand even all these years later. As for Survive, I played through all of the routes, putting a whole lot of hours into the game. I'm a fanfiction writer, who at the time of Survive being released had been on non-stop hiatus for two years. But Survive inspired me so much that it pulled me out of that drought. I'm not going lie, I've played a lot of games even horror games, but none of those games had me feeling the way I did after the first death. Like I had to put the game down for a few days just to process it. Then they added the sounds of the kid being killed. After processing it I have to say this game left a lasting impression in a positive way. Having conversations with people to discuss whether X character was redeemed or not or how they was treated by a family member and that's why they were acting the way they was. It was an exciting game and I loved this this dark take on Digimon Adventure season 1.

I got Digimon Survive not long after buying my Switch, and I already have a fondness for Digimon as a franchise but in this game no other character stood out to me more than Miyuki, the air of mystery surrounding her after The Prologue made me gravitate towards her and wanted to discover how she was somehow alive after the first death I witnessed in-game and was not left disappointed by the reveal and also desperate to save her in the red/morale path end.
Edit: If i were to have a Digimon partner than I would easily choose Betamon because I'm a sucker for the Seadramon digivolution line.
Edit 2: Since posting this I've seen all the endings for Survive and Miyuki's deaths in the Green/Harmony and Yellow/Wrathful Paths just broke me to the point of tears.

That said, in Cybersleuth, I did use the Seadramon line as part of my main team. It's surprisingly very good in that game, if you're only playing the story bits without taking it too seriously.

I really like the concept of this world, Not only people can do terrible things, digimon can too, and without boundaries they could do much more with the stories, For example it's always the human world that is at risk now we see the other way around, we see arukeniamon acting like a village rural human believing in rituals and such and is clearly just acting out of desperation, actual muggers and antagonistic digimon that act of their own will without the virus attribute and The corrupted digimon actually doing much more terrible things compared to other digimon media.
It's also the concept of not knowing the digimon and calling them like some sort of yokai or gods, Cause other digimon media doesn't clearly treat them that way even if they don't know them.
Also please bandai, Give us a route where we only save lopmon and leave shuuji, Hate that THING

Hell even the games, where despite some changes everytime, makes the series be more fresh especially thanks to survive then say pokemon where it has been the exact same thing other then a region, new gimmick and a 'team' using pokemon to do something. And yes it is really hard to try to compare something else of that type of style because it was digimon that cater towards like kids with some mature themes and got bigger versus everything else that was trying to be the next pokemon.

There's a difference between BelialVamdemon killing Archnemon with GulusGammamon killing Archnemon, the later is MUCH MORE brutal than the former because nothing is holding the violence back save for the time slot.

I feel like the deaths of Ryo and Shuuji, while certainly impactful to showcase the seriousness of the group's situation, weren't really "earned" for lack of a better word. Both of them were given very little room to evolve as characters before their mental breakdowns began and became all they revolved around. Ryo especially is a bit of a letdown because in the very beginning of the game, he is shown to be a pragmatic and streetwise kinda personality, but it gets buried basically the moment the cobwebs show up and then he's just out of it the entire time. I think instead of him going full hog starting with the cobwebs, they should have built his breakdown a bit more slowly, and then maybe with Totally-Real-Woman's appearance, the proper breakdown could've begun to manifest, leading to that manic episode that has him end up on the bridge.
I also thought that the true route especially kind of damaged the gravity of Shuuji's abuse of Lopmon. First of all, I find it a bit disappointing that even though the group doesn't like it, nobody really stops Shuuji's abuse outside of a few remarks during any of the routes. I understand this was probably in part to make Ryo's intervention in the true route more impactful, but it also makes it feel a lot more hollow that nobody had put up any resistance even without Ryo around. Furthermore, and this bothered me the most about Shuuji's story: Everyone just immediately forgives Shuuji for what he did to Lopmon once he is snapped out of it. I understand Lopmon specifically doing it, that's just Lopmon's personality, his unconditional love for Shuuji, and that is not something I mind, but everyone else just acting normally after all that is rough, and, on top of that, the whole "we can't trust our partners" plot point after Wendigomon still remains in the true route even though the true route does not have that evolution? I dunno. I think the multiple routes are cool on paper but especially the true route should've been reworked a bit further than it ended up.

I liked the game with Wrathful being my favorite route. To me, Wrathful felt like the game lived up to it's full potential and seeing Aoi manipulate the cast did make my jaw drop. I thought the True Ending was the worst because it's the longest and the story being told was dull. My brother put it best "having a horror story's true path with no risk of failure removes all tension".
I did not like that Ryo and Shuji die on the first playthrough because it also means they are ONLY in the True Ending. No variation of the other routes to include Ryo & Shuji and the True Ending shoehorns in excuses for their partner's evolutions. Being told that I did something wrong to cause Ryo's death, when in reality the game forced a bad outcome is a jerk move in my opinion. I also don't like Shuji, nothing can redeem how awful he is to Lopmon. It also bugs me that Ryo is the only one who stops him (a byproduct of Ryo and Shuji only being in the True Ending). Also the "Can we trust our partners?" scenario still happens in the True Ending when there is no reason to doubt their partners.
Last note, my brother was surprised that Minoru lives in all of the routes (outside of the Bad Ending). He thought that since Saki & Aoi died in Wrathful, Miu & Kaito die in Harmony, that Moral would have Minoru die somehow. But, Minoru is undefeatable apparently.

This was such a great exploration of what has become my favorite Digimon game ever! My only gripe with it is that I wish they had added at least one more bad ending leaving the “moral” ending as more of a real neutral one.
I would have loved an ending where Minoru is the one who goes crazy after both Ryo and Shuuji’s deaths as well as failing to become friends with Falcomon. His parents are divorced and I would have liked to see him maybe try to destroy the link between the two worlds forever, murdering Miyuki and forcibly merging with Piedmon before then merging with the Master in order to seal off the world of the Kemonogami forever. Falcomon flies in at the final hour where we can use him for the first time in the game and after we manage to defeat the Master he merges with Minoru to end it once and for all. In the epilogue it’s seen that all of the Digi-Destined are protecting the Renamon-egg in the real world, waiting until the day it hatches and they can go back to be with their other halves in the world of the Kemonogami.
I feel that the “true” ending would have felt much more well earned after a further examination of what could have possibly gone wrong. At least to me, Ryo parallels Minoru a lot in the ways they were raised separated as they were from their parents technically twice in game while Aoi parallels Shuuji in their genuine wishes to help others despite clearly not always being able to do so. Kaito and Miu are obviously parallels of Haru/The Professor and Miyuki as well as what they could be, the best of the both of them shining through as protectors of two worlds, but I think the writers got sidetracked by also attempting to make Kaito a parallel of Takuma too much. Having Aoi all of a sudden go mad in one ending makes sense, but it feels unfinished due to the way she’s the only one explored in that manner.
It would have been super rewarding after all of the suffering that we eventually see that unfold in EVERYONE, tying the narrative up nicely!

A lot of people complained about the game being too visual novel but I personally felt it wasn't visual novel enough.
Most important thing missing: actual impactful branching choices. That was the biggest thing that ruined the experience for me.
On my first playthrough I was spending every free time trying to befriend Ryo and then the game just kills him off no matter what you do and has the gall to have Takuma say it's "because nobody paid attention to him and noticed he was struggling". Like excuse me, I did!! The game just refused to let me actually have those friendship scenes until new game plus :/
It's also annoying how everyone's deaths on every route and the routes themselves also aren't determined by any rational choices you make, it's just entirely the tone of your speaking between those three bars puts you onto one of three routes with preset deaths already determined. As soon as I realized this was what was happening I lost all sense of tension. It went from "a game where anyone can die if you mess up" to "a game where nothing you can do will ever determine who dies, so there's no point even bothering to survive". I became emotionally numb to it after so many cases of spending all my time levelling and friendshipping someone just for them to get taken away all of a sudden and I'm forced to use the other guys I don't like. There's basically no way to get max friendship with everyone unless you already know who dies in each route, and the difficulty can go from piss easy to practically softlocked cos your entire party just died and you need to raise more from scratch. It just made it more feasible to use wild monsters for every battle and that suuuucks in a game that's supposed to get you attached to the characters...
I wish the game had either made the deaths actually depend on your choices or hadn't yknow.. implied they were going to in all of the marketing. I wouldn't have gone from hyped to hopeless so fast if I could just goddamn save Ryo without having to grind out like 90 hours completing every other route to earn it!
(But his story was super sweet when you finally get to save him, so I don't regret it lol)

I completely agree this is exactly why I couldn't enjoy the game and haven't even finished my first route / playthrough even though I love visual novels and Fire Emblem (as well as Digimon of course).
The game just always bends events in ways that might contradict the player's choices so that another character's actions can feel very illogical and out of place. I just couldn't stay invested because it was so irritating.
Instead of Ryo I tried to keep Shuuji alive so I talked to him as much as possible and I also called him out on his abuse. It would have made a lot more sense for him to change his mind due to those multiple interactions instead of Ryo punching him. It just felt ridiculous to me.
And now I can't beat the final boss unless I do a looooot of grinding because just like you I only have characters that I didn't pay much attention to left and have failed to unlock their final evolutions as a consequence.
It's just so unfortunate because on paper the game is fantastic but the flaws you've mentioned are the exact reasons I dropped it.

    • @Bunni89
      @Bunni89 Před 10 měsíci

@@junenei Yes exactly!!! It feels like you just have to wait for an arbitrary point for the characters to realise a thing you've been trying to say to them for hours but the game wouldn't let you. And the branching point of the routes just makes no sense, you'd think it'd be caused by Takuma acting more moral/vengeful/peaceful but instead this actions stay the same and everyone else in the cast just does randomly different things at the branching point. (Or in one case a random enemy teleports into a place it never was before just so a different character could be ambushed...)
I kept pushing through hoping the eventual final route would be worth it and while it did indeed finally have all the stuff I wished could happen earlier, it felt hollow cos it felt like I didn't really make it happen by any choice of my own. The whole game is just waiting for arbitrary plot twists to occur whenever the game decides you're allowed to have them, and that's really not a good structure!
I'm glad to hear someone else agrees with me!!
Also as someone who did indeed keep grinding all the hell to finish all routes even after I stopped enjoying it: I definitely say don't do it. Wasn't worth it, watching an ending cutscene compilation would be much less torturous.

It basically took the idea of subversive horror and ran crazy with it. Doki Doki Literature Club I believe helped push this concept into the public. There are probably old and better examples. For me subversive horror is any media where the horror aspect is not given much attention, if any, and everything else is emphasized to masquerade it. Even if it is expected from a blind experience, the horror needs to be significantly more than most would expect. For example, instead of leading to an outcome where a main character dies and done where "Jesse has perished". It is "Jesse is brutally killed".
I find this horror to be consistently effective because it rips familiarity and peace away from the audience and makes them second guess their thoughts.

If anyone would like to turn up the challenge in the battles, they way I’m doing it is by raising ALL partner and recruited Digimon equally - I do this by battling with the last six available digimon by order of level (so I’m battling with the weakest ones, this method also shuffles and randomizes the party). This has created some engaging battles because I have to consider their types, natural abilities, and what equipment to use. I’m also playing using a species clause, which means I don’t recruit Digimon that are already in my party OR Digimon that belong to the partners evolution tree. So I only go into free battle if I see a new Digimon to recruit. Evolution items are used for the lowest levels first, and they can’t be used if it would violate species clause. Hope you have fun. I am.

I watched a clip of this game because I was curious about it, and I remembered some of the Dubbed Digimon shows that my older sister watched in the late 90’s. And then I see one of the fog scenes…which did even better than corpse party on sound effects and screams of pain/agony.
It made me wonder how many OG fans played this game blind and were mind f*cked by how dark it truly is.

At least one. Me XD I didn't watch any trailers, I knew nothing about it, in fact I forgot to even check to see what the rating was. I just heard it highly recommended by my best friend, a huge Digimon fan, and I bought it. When the fog monsters smeared the camera lens with Ryo's blood my jaw stayed on the floor for like a full two minutes.

This Video really hit it out of the park. I'll be honest, I didn't enjoy playing Survive, but this video made me wish I had. I bought it as soon as it went live because of my love for the franchise and knowing that Digimon was kind of at a tipping point at the time (thankfully survive + the tcg have shown Bandai that people still want this franchise), but just didn't enjoy the gameplay. My previous experience with digimon games was the cyber sleuth games and hearing about the world games, so I expected a cool story broken up by a ton of gameplay, and that just wasn't survive. Maybe it's harsh to judge a game for what it isn't, but I don't really like visual novels and Survive disappointed me. Your presentation of it however really gave me hope for the game and the franchise. It was super well done and showed the power of the game, even if I could never experience it myself due to my preferences. I also really respect your commitemnt to not showing the true ending route, funilly enough I initially dclicked this video because I was searching for a story summary, but the way you presented the themes of the game really made me agree that a 'good ending' isn't what the story of the game needed (even if a good ending is kind of required by these games to reward completionists).

I really was trying to use this video to deliver the Digimon Survive experience to people who wouldn’t want to play a visual novel, without it being a ‘playthrough’, cause there’s a pretty damn good and surprisingly dark take on a Digimon story in this game and it’s well worth knowing about

“Fighting tooth and nail just to survive..” this is too true, I didn’t realize that I could’ve gone to train and battle some more before the first boss fight, I was on the edge of my seat trying so hard to win, to survive. I barely won that fight.

Overall, I wasn’t a HUGE fan of the truthful ending, it just ended up feeling a little too perfect and anime tropey. Although it was pretty cool to learn more about Ryo and Shuuji, as well as the way they reacted and interacted with other characters at later points in the story.
I really think the juxtaposition between ‘Digimon’ as a whole and survives horror elements + brutal deaths make it all the more interesting, like Digimons never shied away from being a bit more dangerous but putting those deaths in front of your face and making you feel hopeless in those situations really hit all the notes it needed too, and the truthful route just takes that away.

@@Viseak Ah, interesting, thanks for telling me your thoughts on the matter. And I agree with you, though I appreciate that there was a happy ending where everyone survived, especially since you had to play through one of the other endings first before you can obtain it. My main gripe with the Truthful ending is that it felt too rushed.

What an interesting video. The story reminds me of a Persona or Shin Megami game as the MC's relationships do impact the game in some way. Although, the difference is that when I think Digimon, I don't think someone is going to get killed. After all the characters have plot shields to make sure they make it to the end, and that mostly comes from it being a kids show. So when the first character bites the bullet, its also a realization that this isn't going to be like the anime. Like talk about a slap to the face as it really reminds you that their are stakes in this story and not everyone is going to be okay (Not that they were to being with.) Although I think being able to save everyone would be a good story but would it have the same impact? Which is why having it as a NG+ route works best because if you could save everyone from the start would you feel like their is something to invest in. Hats off to the game for killing Miu, I mean most stories wouldn't do that and it is very bold to game end a child.
The part that interests me is that 3 of the 4 main endings is a story where the worlds fuse with one another. Showing that even with a "true ending" the group isn't able to stop the digimon from coming to the world only change how the world reacts to the introduction to these invaders. And the 1 ending that you do avoid this outcome 2 people had to have been sacrificed for the worlds to not merge. Which to me is mind blowing, because without those first two deaths or if more people die thanks to the MC's actions the Digital world ceases to exist and the world is turned into turmoil. Which reminds me of a Shin Megami style of endings, where is what the group did to survive was what was really best for the world they returned to?
This sounds like a great game and would be worth a playthrough.

I hope they make a follow up to this game. There's so much potential to make an already good game even better. You can tell at the beginning of the game that they intended the visual novel aspect to be a lot more fleshed out than they are in the final product. For example, depending on your dialogue, dokugumon kidnaps ryo and Kunemon and/or Minoru and Falcomon too, not just Aoi. You can also get certain items to set dokugumon on fire to lower its HP from the start. And when you meet kaito talking to Arukenimon, you can either go with him or the others, which will affect the cutscenes and subsequent battle. If there was a lot more of that in the game it would make each playthrough a lot more interesting.
And I feel like I'm in the minority here, but I actually think the combat mechanics are pretty good. Not perfect, but it does have some really good and unique ideas that, unfortunately are not allowed to shine because the map design is pretty mediocre. I love the evolution mechanic for partner Digimon. It's genuinely really well executed and has more depth than some people realize. I love the equippable move system, because it allows for customization while at the same time not being broken. I know some people don't like that you only get three slots for non-signature moves, but I actually think that's good. You can change your equipment mid-battle, but it takes a turn, so you gotta be smart about it to avoid getting yourself into trouble. The partner system is also great, as it gives each human a unique ability to boost Digimon and provides unique dialogue for each possible combination. But like I said, the maps rarely allow these great mechanics to shine. Too many maps are way too square with flat terrain, instead of having an interesting layout. And even that could be somewheres forgiven if they had more enemies causing trouble or harsher win conditions. Because when the game actually gets creative with the maps and win conditions, it's really fun! If these things got fixed we could have an amazing game on our hands.
But as it is, I still love Digimon Survive a lot. It's not flawless, but it definitely deserved selling 500k+ copies.

@5:17 yeah because they can't let us pick from one of our favorites like renamon, ranamon, gatomon or devimon nope you get agumon or a handful of maybe your favorites maybe not.
this is why i liked dawn and dusk they gave us like everything right off the bat.
you can have gatomon, agumon and solmon in dawn
or in dusk lunamon, renamon and gabumon.
it was a nice balance especially for how hard it gets later on.
you get one "female"/faminine mon, one "male"/masculine mon, and all three are starters from a generation/ or game you might have grown up with.

I remember liking agumon, guilmon, terriermon, impmon, gatomon, and that blue thing that turns into a majestic dog thing because it reminded me of suicune. the game was hilariously easy to cheese once you got a feel for it. Pokemon: Keeps the edge on the back of the blade.
Media: We can't have children harmed! That's too much.
FNAF: It's all child murder and children love it!
Digimon: A double edged blade that doesn't hold back both the gore, the reality or the psychological damage and trauma.
I'd say Digimon was ahead of it's time.
The Boys was just a dumb insult to hero comics,
The Watchmen was a satire of hero comics
and Invinsible is just that one kid who thinks it too unrealistic and says: If this was real it would have much more guts and gore and people would die.
Digimon says: Yes, it is shocking and a lot of a kid. That's what they tackle and why they need each other.
Digimon has the dark and cruel stuff but isn't satirical or a parody or even realistic. It's honest and reasons with it to make a great narrative.
The world colliding ending sound like an exaggerated version of an actual Digimon show where Digimon exist completely in our world.
Just not complete anarchy but I can see the prejudice, capture and hate part be a great story element to drive the narrative and tell character's motivations and explore their characters.
Especially from the Digimon's perspective like Impmon in Tamers.
He has his whole own story of mistakes and trauma, fighting and reconciling with himself and his past to overcome the present for a better future.
    A near perfect side character.

If all of your emotions affect your digimon’s evolution, my poor guy would be so fucked up. Sometimes it would be beautiful, happy, and free. Others it would be monstrous, destructive, and evil. And in all of these evolutions, it would be immeasurably powerful because I am a person who feels deeply, much more than I’d like, for better or worse. This is assuming it was able to evolve multiple times and not kill me immediately after a darker digivolution.
