- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi passed the presidency of the G20 group to Brazil at the end of a summit in Delhi. Brazilian President Lula da Silva said global issues should not be allowed to derail the G20's agenda. Leaders earlier issued a joint declaration, despite wide differences over the war in Ukraine. The document does not mention Russia by name. Heads of state, including Gemany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz, said they were pleased with the outcome.

It's function is to bring consensus among members for global economic stability and on that role, it was able to gather consensus under the Indian leadership. As for Ukraine war, no diplomatic forum can bring the end to it until the two parties can reach some sort of compromise. Condemning Russia in g20 would not have helped Ukraine.

Many countries should learn from India. Diplomacy is not that they'll say whatever they want to, but it is to hear everyone's position and make a decision that makes everyone a winner. India has shown the world it's capabilities to handle challenging situations. India is the Real Super Power with ethics and values and not just money.

This brought me back to the heyday of the Bandung conference and the non-aligned movement subsequently, back then it was India, Indonesia and Egypt as the first movers. Nowadays, hopefully India, Indonesia, and Brazil can show the world the way to peace and prosperity without sacrificing justice, equality and diversity.
