We are a homesteading, homeschooling family of 7. Due to recent events (job loss/career change, health issues, rising food costs, etc.) we are having a hard time making ends meet despite our best efforts at frugality. So we are tapping into our local food banks to help us feed our family. Come along as I show you what we are blessed with, what we add to it via grocery store and garden, and how I use it all to nourish our bodies.

I worked a six day week last week and when I got paid mostly everything went to my mechanic for some very expensive car repairs. I was left with $25 until next paycheck. So, I went to the local food pantry and they blessed us with meats and veggies and some pantry staples. I’m very grateful.

Great haul love your channel. You are right life is not always sunshine and rainbows. I have a husband in late stage dementia at 50 and a son with non verbal autism that is agressive and between the two of them they keep me on my toes! Take care and stay safe!
Lovely haul. That's a great tip to use canning rings if you don't have a muffin tin. I would've been wary to bake them in that tray too😊

When I started watching you a couple years ago your $500 food budget would’ve gone way farther. So I understand. And they should too.
Her budget would go further if she would shop at different stores instead of just Aldi. I shop at Kroger and Schnucks and I get quite a bit of markdown and clearance items add a fraction of the cost
@@debbieframpton3857 I do as well, but I have 4 grocery stores within 1 mile of my house and another 2 more less than 10 miles away, I also have smaller stores like Walgreens and cvs close by. Alternatively it sounds like she lives in a food desert and has to drive at least a half hour to the closest grocery stores and with FIVE children in tow, I can absolutely understand why she would shop at one store. We all try to do the best with what we have and some compassion goes a long way sometimes.

@@debbieframpton3857please be mindful that not everyone has the time nor do they have multiple stores nearby. The drive to get to different stores costs a lot in gas for some folks.
Put the muffins in your cupcake pan before they thaw. They tend to go all over the place if you don't. Just experience from when I worked in a gas station kitchen.
cool haul. I also love those baby food squeezables. I like to put them in the freezer and eat them cold. Also, don't worry about the people that are commenting about accepting things. It's perfectly fine.
What a waste it would be if all of the food at all of the food banks was trashed!😮 your so mindful of your blessings and creative with what you have. I would have never thought of using canning jar lids!❤

When my daughter was younger and didn’t want milk in any form(except ice cream) I bought her some of the trix yogurt because it got some calcium in her.

This is actually a good little assortment. The pizza looked great! Where I live all they have at the food bank is cakes,pies and bread/donuts. No healthy stuff. Very sad.
Looks like less cleaning on muffin pan also. Which is the hand washing dishes gals worst nightmare! You're right about the help out! Sometimes temporary can seem like forever!
