We were in the national park up there and saw a moma with 2 cubs. These idiotic teens started chasing them into the woods to see how close they could get. Everyone was yelling for them to stop and come back. I wish a park ranger had been there to take them to jail. They were lucky the moma just kept going. It’s people like that that make the bears feel the need to attack. I’ve been going up there since I was a kid and I’ve never seen one be aggressive. Just leave them alone.
Stay away from a mom and her baby no matter the species. You are dumber than a box of rocks. Why don’t you just stay away from the Smokies. That could cause the baby to be orphaned. The mother could be put down because of this.

I lived in Knoxville TN my whole life and we would take quick trips to Gatlinburg and the mountains all the time. Like Cades cove where you can drive around and see all the bears, the one thing they cannot tell you enough is do not get out of your cars and keep driving, in the picnic areas they say do not feed the bears but yet people always do. Then they wonder into the picnic areas often because of that.
Here's a clue for all you people who stop and pull out your damned phones: Get out of there so you don't appear to be a threat. Everything is not a goddamn zoo for you to gawk at.
Literally the point of these drive through trails is to gawk at the animals on them and observe the nature
@@cadecochran5788 I live in Tennessee right outside of gatlinburg and imma go ahead and give ya a tip, cades cove and areas like it are nature trails yes, but there not for you idiots to stop and roll down ya damn windows and stare at them, and as tourist ya need to respect the bears instead of making um use to humans. Us locals gotta suffer the attacks because y’all wanna come in a feed and stop right on um…. Stay in the city buddy.

Grew up around black beers, they are not aggressive at all, the only time I ever had one pounce at me is when I was hiking and accidentally came up on a cub and the mama bear pounced at me while grunting telling me to leave, I put two rounds in the ground and scared them off but every other encounter they've ignored me.
You will see some black beers in tourist areas that will walk up and expect food, which is why you don't feed them.

Respect needed for the mom bear and and her cub, via moving away as they tried to walk by, this was her way of saying hey I need some space for me and my cub to talk by, never get close to a mother and her cub. You would be fined in BC if a ranger saw you do this.

When I camp in bear country I pack a portable electric bear fence. 2.4 lbs for peace of mind
Just a tip from a local in Tennessee… you’re bear fence is not effective against black bears or any bear for that matter…. If ya got food… the bear will rip you’re fence apart regardless of the electricity and come in anyway…. Look up on here CZcams “bear takes electrified deer”
Ya wanna keep ya self safe? Keep ya food in air tight containers and hang them in a tree a little ways away from camp.

Since most American bears are changing their coloring‘s, you should be able to tell a black bear between a brown bear by its ears nowadays and with these ears, I think that that’s actually a brown bear that has changed its coloring (You can look it up) to being black. You can find black bears with their rounded ears that are completely golden almost like a brown bear you cannot judge a bear, and how they will react to you based on their coloring alone Nowadays. you have to judge the ears because american bears are actively evolving
