Heaven’s Key best upgraded with Dwarven, still boosts both strength and magick, only trading a very small percent of each for tons of knockdown power (a stat the thief has little of, so boosting it helps greatly). Edit: also knockdown power determines stagger potential as well
With Quick Spell core skill of Sorcerer, firing off that Augural Flare isn't that difficult. I'd rather go for survivability with the OP Formless Feint. Yeah more stam usage, but with Improved Formless Feint, it's eating way less stam for basically shield on yourself, thus freeing up augments like Constancy that don't matter since you're under Formless Feint's dodging protection. But yeah, basically having Sorcerer's Galvanize on a Thief is quite busted! I'd wager that a Thief + Mystic Spearhand's Ravenous Hound stam would also be good, but less so, since that takes up a weapon skill and that weapon skill is melee only while Galvanize is just the 'heavy' attack of Sorcerer Personally, I'm having a blast currently was a Wayfarer who is mostly Magick Archer with Saggittate Avalanche and Lifetaking Arrow but making up for Magick Archer's core weakness (no defensives) with Mystic Spearhand's Mirrour Shelde bubble-buff. Lifetaking Arrow is great at clearing out trash while Sagittate Avalanche is great at taking out bosses and their vitals/weakspots. Why I like this build better than the Thief-Sorcerer.... well Magick Archer cheats by automagically honing onto those vitals, saving work. And Golems I handle by just staying more in Mystic Spearhand to deal physical damage + flinch-stuns with Forebeding Bolts.
This is definitely the most effective build though. Skull splitter and augural flare , never thought of using high spell hold. That’s way more efficient

Best armor for defense and knock down resistance is the head agamenian Agalea Armor Dominators armor Legs Vanguarders greaves all with dwarven enhancements
Honestly, min/maxing for the best of everything is overkill in DD2. Even in endgame I had my Arisen in gear I thought looked the best, instead of the best gear stats-wise, and didn't struggle at all. I do think having all the best gear would be smart if one were trying to play thru without using pawns, but with a smart foursome, the game is too easy.
