  • DHRUPAD MELA is a celebration deeply rooted in the virtues of Indian classical music, and it beautifully embodies the enduring connection to ancient musical traditions. Here are some of the virtues of Dhrupad Mela and its remarkable ties to the rich tapestry of classical music heritage:-
    1. **Preservation of Ancient Tradition**: Dhrupad Mela stands as a beacon of light, illuminating the ancient tradition of Dhrupad music. Dhrupad is one of the oldest forms of Indian classical music, dating back to the medieval period. This event plays a vital role in preserving and nurturing this centuries-old tradition, ensuring it continues to thrive in the contemporary world.
    2. **Spiritual and Cultural Significance**: The choice of the auspicious night of Shivratri as the backdrop for Dhrupad Mela is a testament to the deep spiritual and cultural significance it holds. Shivratri is a night dedicated to Lord Shiva, known for his close association with the arts, including music. Dhrupad's devotional themes and spiritual essence harmonize seamlessly with this sacred occasion, evoking a sense of transcendence and divine connection.
    3. **Showcasing Musical Diversity**: Dhrupad Mela offers a platform for a diverse array of artists, from legendary maestros to emerging talents. It is a celebration of the diverse facets of Dhrupad music. This inclusivity mirrors the holistic approach to music advocated by ancient treatises like "Natyashastra" and "Sangeet Ratnakara," which emphasized the synthesis of various musical elements.
    4. **Global Representation**: The event's inclusion of Dhrupad artists from not only India but also from around the world illustrates the universal appeal and adaptability of this classical music form. Dhrupad has found resonance with musicians and audiences worldwide, making it a global ambassador for Indian classical music.
    5. **Intergenerational Learning**: Dhrupad Mela facilitates the passing down of knowledge from one generation to the next. It perpetuates the guru-shishya parampara (teacher-disciple tradition), a hallmark of classical music pedagogy, which has been integral to the transmission of musical wisdom throughout history.
    6. **Engaging the Audience**: Dhrupad Mela provides an immersive and engaging experience for music enthusiasts and aspiring musicians. Attendees have the unique opportunity to witness live performances, feel the vibrations of classical music, and connect with the artists on a profound level. This hands-on approach aligns with the experiential learning emphasized in ancient musical traditions.
    7. **Cultural Continuity**: The event underscores the continuity of the classical music tradition, bridging the past and the present. It brings the timeless melodies and compositions of the past into the modern era, ensuring that the legacy of Dhrupad endures for future generations.
    In summary, Dhrupad Mela is not just a musical event; it is a cultural and spiritual experience that extols the virtues of ancient musical traditions. It serves as a living testament to the endurance and timelessness of Dhrupad music, while embracing the global diversity and inclusivity that have enriched this classical art form. Through Dhrupad Mela, the magnificent heritage of Indian classical music continues to thrive, offering a glimpse into the profound and enchanting world of Dhrupad.

    Good Powerful Ghamaks, reminds me of his father. However, better if he were singing with someone. Mohan sharma is a credit to the Nana panse Nathdwara pakhawaj lineage.

    • @Utopicfarmer
      @Utopicfarmer Před 3 lety +6

      Shiv Tandav Stotra and Shiv Tandav are two different things.
      Stotra was composed by Ravana while the Sangeet called Shiv Tandav was composed by Shiv himself.
      Note: Sangeet = Gaayan, Vaadan, Nrutya.
      In this video, only the Gaayan and Vaadan part of Shiv Tandav is presented (Nrutya is missing).

      There are many Shiv Tandav strotras. Most popular is Shiv tandav strotra composed by Ravana. Jatatavi galat jwalat pravaha pavita sthale.

      No actually Hindusthani music scales from your own voice. Not like western.
