Charles the first to write a book 1994 about his family. Stating his mother was cold, his father was a bully, & his family was dysfunctional. Admitted to his affair to Camilla. It is because of the affair & his hacked phone call you have the royal soap opera & circus today. It has not stopped. You think these two who committed adultery can be head of the church & get anointed with holy oil Gets forgiveness. You have Wm & Kate chauffeur randy Andy with no moral compass. Yet they on H & M daily every article must mention them. God is a of order & of peace this is total chaos.

They are truly awful and one advantage is that people worldwide have had a peek into the monarchy that we wouldn’t have had without them. I am American with English ancestors on both sides. I didn’t know much about the monarchy but loved the queen because she was such a rock stable leader. Harry was always a happy screw up and William and Kathryn just seemed like nice people with cute kids. I have read books and watched more news from England and Australia than I would have. It has been an education for Americans.

Yes, the children would ideally come of age before their parents ascend to be King and Queen. I think it’s 12 years or so before Louis turns 18. It sadly may not be that long before William must put on the crown…but I hope they get all the time they can.

@@user-me4xw2cy1v He needs to work a bl00dy sight harder first. It isn't a co-incidence that the top working family members are Charles, Camilla, Anne, Edward and Sophie (no specific order) with William coming in below them all and Catherine coming in even further down the list. I am a staunch monarchist but I prefer my monarch - or future monarch - to actually buckle down and work a bit harder. It is patently unfair for the hard working family members TO ALL BE NEARING OR PAST RETIREMENT AGE while the two members who are both young enough to actually do a decent day's work - just like any other set of WORKING PARENTS - are also the only two who DON'T do just that. I've always thought William would be the end of the monarchy and I've a sinking feeling I might, unfortunately, be correct. He's stated no overseas state visits because of the kids - even though they have loving grandparents who would love to care for them for a fortnight, which is all it takes now for a visit to the other side of the world meaning they can still attend school and are unlikely to miss their parents much for such a short time - and they disappear the moment the kids are on holiday (off again as the kids are off for mid term so no work for William or Catherine). That is something a HEAD OF STATE cannot do, it is 7 days a week and 24 hours a day (in fairness he does get 2 days off a year, Christmas Day and Easter Sunday) job and on his current performance he is unfit to take over from his father.
      GOD SAVE KING CHARLES

That girl was dealt a badly marked card from the off. She never had a chance as a wife, let alone as a Queen in waiting. So she made the most of being Princess of Wales, and being a mother. I don't know where her choices come into it, except in giving up Royal protection -- but given the undisputed fact that her protection officers had reported her every move to the Prince of Wales before and even after their divorce, it is hard to blame her.
The entire Royal family treated her shamefully. It is to be hoped that that gin-soaked old bat had the grace, as she entered Westminster Abbey at the age of 97, to wonder how it was that she was burying this girl of 36.

While i always look forward to Palace Confidential, this was a really great show. KC3 has always been way ahead of time with his beliefs and work for climate and conservation and as time goes on he's been proven right more and more. What's more impressive is his quiet belief in himself to not argue with naysayers, not push for his way or no way. But to put in the work, the research with backbone, he's come out as a trailblazer who finally found the love and comfort of his life witj QC and looks lovingly and proudly on Wiliam & Catherine and.the.rest.of the RF to not only to be the strength of the Monarchy but to be a happy, loving, caring family who wants the rest of the world to have the same. A very Happy Birthday KC3, many more and much happiness. Thank you. Xxx

It was only after this that Charles
      got back together with Camilla.
Diana publicly tried to destroy Charles by saying there were 3 in
      the marriage but the press,
& therefore the public, didn't know at the time that she herself had been in a secret 5 year relationship with James Hewitt.
Diana had moved on after the divorce and her & Charles became friends again.

We have gotten past the tabloid press and Queen Camilla has shown her character, which is a wonderful warm person who raised her own children well, and was never a stepmother to the Princes, but a friend. She is more intelligent that Princess Diana was and more stable, the steady hand which is necessary as the consort of the King. Diana won much of her popularity on being young, pretty and fresh, and later for her compassionate efforts, but living with her was another thing entirely, she was always unsuited to be Queen consort, in my opinion, one wishes she could have been lived and been happy.

Thank you for this wonderful episode to celebrate King Charles 75th birthday. The retrospective and commentary by the royal experts is important information for people in the former commonwealth but also worldwide to understand more about the Royal Family. It is important that Queen Elizabeth's legacy is remembered and carried on through King Charles reign. As a Canadian who sang God Save the Queen in public school in Canada during the 50's and 60's my allegiance to her has carried throughout my lifetime. She was a beacon of steadfastness, hope and support to carry on as a Canadian being part of the commenwealth but also in our daily lives. The world needs these models of leadership. We need to hold on to our history and understand how much Britain brought forward the development of the new world and development in other countries. While many radicals in the west are now denigrating the colonizing efforts of England where would be be if that did not happen?? It was the force behind the development of many areas in the world. Well done Palace Confidential. Please continue to provide important historical aspects of Britain and the fomer commonwealth countries, warts and all it was progress. It is fascinating history that people need to be more informed about.

He spent his own Naval severence pay setting up the Prince's Trust when he was in his 20s (over 1m jobs found so far), he alerted people to climate change, he respects nature, the country's history, people of all faiths & is an excellent diplomat. People don't realise that he had to marry a virgin (& this was in the 80s!) when all he wanted to do was to marry a woman of his choice. For all the good he has done in his life, it's completely unfair to keep harking back to his first wife - who was not a saint herself. Charles & Diana were reconciled as friends in the end so we should remember the good in both of them because it far outweighs the bad.

King Charles has remained level as he’s aged and a joy to watch as he’s been crowned King!
He comes across as easy to talk to and we can tell that Camilla compliments him in their roles.

I think KC has mature overtime. He is more comfortable and confident as a ruler and family man. And clearly he loves Camilla very much (and vice versa) -- so people just need to back off unless they can claimed themselves as perfect! KC is wise for letting Harry & M to roast themselves. The more they open their mouth, the more they exposed themselves as greedy, vindictive and selfish individuals. Wonder what's in Harry's mind when he looked back at his photo with his dad and brother? Regret? Sadness?

Harry did nothing wrong. It was William who told his aides to tell people like Dan Wootton and plant negative stories in magazines. Thank you Byline Investigates for the story..

Dan Wootton was paid by William to lie about them. Its all confirmed with audio tape.

Beautiful photo montage! Always your best feature! As an American, I so appreciate learning more about your Royal Family, and I did love the Queen. She was ready to place it all in Charles, Williams, and George’s hands when she departed this earth. It all worked out well, and she knew the monarchy would carry on.

Excellent show today! I think Charles is steering the ship brilliantly, just getting on with business. He will hopefully continue to ignore the problems created by Harry and his wife, realizing that ignoring their advances has a greater impact than anything.

As always Palace Confidential addresses situations in a thought provoking manner. As Charles and Camilla have found forgiveness by many people perhaps in 40 years his younger son will earn (if he's at all interested) a position of service to the nation in some capacity. Hopefully not before decades of proving his worthiness. At the moment he is definitely not trustworthy, sober, nor mentally fit to rejoin the firm, imo.

Camilla loves Charles...she has never spoken out. She quietly and diligently goes about her duties. She is really supportive of her husband , her family and his family. If JHarry had any love for his father he wouldn't have done what he has done. He knew he could leave but the manner in which he did was simply vile.. and Harry deserves no pity.

One reason I enjoy this weekly delving into all that surrounds the Canadian/British/Aussie head of state, is that despite the family squabbles and the palace intrigues, it all seems so much more civilised than the insanity of Washington DC's theatre of the absurd.

Well Harry himself noted his resentment of the ‘institution’ and his father and particularly William.
It’s not like she was using a the Crown as a reference, she was restating his own words.
