Dissonant Chords? This Ancient Composer's rule makes any harmony work

How can Renaissance composer Palestrina help us with creating spicy chords and harmonies that don't catch more attention than necessary?
I think many of us have come across the following situation: You find an amazing chord, but somehow it sticks out too much or just does not fit the musical context. In this case, you can use the ancient composing technique called Suspensions to spice up your chords and harmonies. You can even apply this to your melodies. By the way, this technique was originally made for melodic use.
