The best football Ajax played is the season after they reached the semi final. Also, it's a credit to him for rebuilding the team which you so conveniently overlook. Conte is not someone to build a successful tram for long period.

We have a good base with the need of filling the gaps and replacing the deadwood.
I wanted Luis Enrique to be our manager and I hoped United will wait till the WC is over. But if the decision is made, I will back whoever the manager is.
I see nothing special about Luis. His Barca team play very dull if you compare them to Pep Barca.

He made very good signings for Barca, lifted them up again after couple of dull seasons under different managers post Guardiola. He won a treble. He managed one of the biggest clubs in the world successfully. He is the second or third most successful managers Barca ever had. He got the best out of big egos. He rebuilt Spanish team from scratch now. He is not afraid to play attacking football. There are all the signs of what Manchester United need right now.

@@bharathsf He had an ageing midfield in Xavi and Iniesta. Xavi's form was not great when Enrique became Barca manager. He had to adapt their playing style to get the best out of the ageing duo. He made shrewd signings of Ter Stegen and Rakitic. His success at Barca was not a given.

I don’t know how many United fan’s knew, that Ajax’s early history is wound up with numerous British manager’s, it’s first professional manager was an Irishman Jack Kirwan (1910-15). Then for the next 55 years the club had 8 English manager, the one exception during that time a Scot, Robert Thomson (1950-53), some had connection’s with United. The last Englishman was the visionary Vic Buckingham, managing them twice, (1959-61) & (1964-65).
The United connection was ex-player, Jack (Gunner) Rowley (1963-65) & the previous mentioned Robert Thompson who after retiring as a player, worked for Ipswich Town as assistant trainer and head trainer, under Scott Duncan, United’s manager before Sir Matt Busby.
Vic Buckingham last stint finishing in 1965, paved the way for that great coach Rinus Michels, who had played for the club between 1946-1958. Many football people attributed Buckingham with the root’s of what became known as “Total Football” that Michels implemented at Ajax, which later evolved under Cruyff!
