Even though Sonam Kapoor's acting is not the best or top tier, still she knows the importance of facial expressions and how Botox and fillers can ruin one's face. I remember she was on a video interview with Vogue (I think) and it was something like "get ready with me" and there she said the reason she didn't get any work done on her face was because "it all shows on screen and ruins the shot" somthing along those lines.
Sonam would been a way better choice for this role. She is way more beautiful and also somewhat good actor. She looked ethereal in saawariya. Plus can pull off that innocent look in movies.

I think Heeramandi is based on pre Independence period. Heeramandi before the invasion of Britishers was considered to be a very learned people's place. Nawab's used to send their soms to learn some values from Tawaifs. Actually Tawaifs used to dance and sing and would be a great part of the cultural society back then. But aftr invasion the state of Heeramandi changed to what it is now.
I'm sorry lived in lahore but the product is only slb imagination.heeramandi has no courtyard palatial housing articheture, very narrow and interwining Gali mohalla. Also neither were they rich in1940s as Britisher had influenced that place. The clothing is not lahori it gives more lukhnowi vibes. They didn't use to converse in Urdu but in Punjabi mostly. These artisans had a different accent more Punjabi yet refined to please the influencial. Thier art and dance and songs weren't such as portrayed here

Even though Sonam Kapoor's acting is not the best or top tier, still she knows the importance of facial expressions and how Botox and fillers can ruin one's face. I remember she was on a video interview with Vogue (I think) and it was something like "get ready with me" and there she said the reason she didn't get any work done on her face was because "it all shows on screen and ruins the shot" somthing along those lines.
Heck, even Sonam could have played the character better than this.
Sonam would been a way better choice for this role. She is way more beautiful and also somewhat good actor. She looked ethereal in saawariya. Plus can pull off that innocent look in movies.

I think Heeramandi is based on pre Independence period. Heeramandi before the invasion of Britishers was considered to be a very learned people's place. Nawab's used to send their soms to learn some values from Tawaifs. Actually Tawaifs used to dance and sing and would be a great part of the cultural society back then. But aftr invasion the state of Heeramandi changed to what it is now.

The original writer of the film said she didn't cry " Ghar jaana hai ", instead she was proud that the mission was completed successfully and she was welcomed back to India with dhol nagaade in the flight/train. The writer was shocked when the last scene was changed.

I think SLB is always said that His movies are there to show luxury to show art. He himself said he fantasises his movies. His stories, I don't know why people still criticise him. Even though he's come out and said I fantasise and I romanticise my movies. I like to show them in a larger than life.
