Content marketing is one of the most effective, cost-efficient, and all around best marketing strategies to drive leads and sales. But the key with content marketing is understanding that your results are directly tied to the quality of your content.
So in this video I’m going to cover 5 easy to follow tips for writing great content.
Tip 1: Keep It Clear, Concise, and Focused
The most important thing you can do for your content is to keep it on point. Your potential customer found this content for a reason, whether through a search engine, or spotting a link that caught their attention.
Their goal is to learn more about the subject you’ve headlined and you owe it to them to provide it.
Tip 2: Edit, Edit, Edit
Hammering out a 2,000 word article and hitting submit just shouldn’t happen. Even Hemingway was well known for disliking his initial drafts. Break up your editing into phases.
Tip 3: Make the Content Actionable
Talking about your success is fine, but what your customers really want to know is how they can do it too. By creating actionable content, you’re giving your audience things they can try immediately.
Tip 4: Add Images
Images can take a decent post and make it great. The key to shareable content is to find relatable graphics. Using stock photos for the sole purpose of using images may look better than a completely text-based piece of content, but it’s pointless if it doesn’t benefit the reader.
According to Forbes, articles with images get 94% more views than articles without. That’s too large of a percentage to pass up on.
Tip 5: Provide Answers
No one wants to finish an article with more questions than they arrived with.
Again, people are consuming your content for a reason. Remember that with your headline, you’ve made a promise to answer their question, so you need to be sure your content provides the answers they were looking for.
Conclusion
These tips may sound simple but that’s because they are. Writing great content isn’t reserved for the Shakespeares and Tolstoys of our generation.
It’s attainable to anyone who focuses on the basics and can get pen to paper, or hands to keyboard.

Hi Adam, some great tips in this video & I would like to add, try speaking at your reading & comprehension speed which is going to be different for your target market. If your market is Gamers, their attention & retention level is going to be far different to an audience of 50 year olds or Retirees for example. I read somewhere that we are lucky to retain 10% of what we read so another tip might be to include a fun way to engage your market to see how much of your Marketing material was actually understood.
Absolutely! Always tailor your content for your audience (and also the platform it's on). My advice when it comes to learning something (especially something as complex and nuanced as online marketing) is once is never enough (yes I've read the 10% retention stat as well) so especially when it moves fast - try to go through it 2X, 3X, or even 5X times to let sink in anything that may have been missed on the initial view (or read, or listen). Thanks!

The way you carried the video was amazing. I liked the part when you said to make an initial draft with pen and paper as it takes more time and gives you an opportunity to put more relevant and informative content into your blog post.

Yes there are a number of great places to find good content on the web, and really depends on what you're looking for (ie what niche, business, industry, etc) an easy place to start to find the most shared content is buzzsumo.com and then all you need to do is enter your main keyword and it will provide a list of suggestions.

Sadly there is no "one size fits all" answer there as it depends on your audience, style, type of content, etc. Here's what I can offer, give them what they need as quickly as possible and make sure to let them know where they can get more if they want. Conversational tone is key (in 90% of industries) and formatting matters to keep it interesting (ie bullet points, headers, etc) Hope this helps!

Hey Freelancing care, great question, the main lens on this was a Canon 50mm (don't remember the exact specs) but it was shot on a full frame and my latest videos are shot on a crop frame with a canon 10-18mm. Hope that helps!

What do you mean by fluffy?
Great question Travis, "fluffy" means that the content has too much filler, so it's full of a bunch of stuff that doesn't really need to be there, doesn't contribute to the main point, or doesn't add any value. Essentially just being there to take up space and make the content longer. The fix is to edit ruthlessly.

Hey Aaron, yes this is a common issue and there are a lot of factors involved including market, content, timing, hashtags, CTA's, etc so there's a lot to play around with to find the winning combination. Keep testing different combinations and also make sure to include video whenever possible. From there... it really depends on your audience and what kind of content and CTA combination you need to be intriguing enough for them to leave the platform. Good luck!
