  • Just two decades ago, RC helicopters were almost unattainable due to their high cost and almost unflyable due to their inherent instability. But that all changed about 15 years ago.
The E-flite Blade CX was introduced in late 2005 as an easier-to-fly alternative to E-flite's Blade CP, also introduced in 2005. The CX was an entry level, ready-to-fly electric micro RC helicopter designed and distributed by E-flite, a division of Horizon Hobby of Champaign, Illinois, USA:

The Picoo Z, a tiny 10-gram 2-channel electric helicopter from Silverlit Toys, was released in the summer of 2006, and was an instant hit. This little heli was also sold under the brand name of Air Hogs Havoc Heli in North America:

My RC helicopter adventure started with the Air Hogs Reflex 3-channel helicopter back in 2007, which also sparked and fueled the whole electric RC aircraft obsession with me. This little electric RC heli was a present from my younger cousin Asena (whom I refer to as my little brother), so you can say that he is the cause of all this craziness today! I had so much fun with this little heli that I ended up getting a used E-flite Blade CX2 later, and the rest is history...
Last weekend, I performed the outdoor flight test of my brand-new WLtoys V912 4-channel helicopter on a windy day. It was not a wise decision, and I ended up crashing the V912 and breaking its flybar:

To punish myself for my bad decision, I decided to put myself in the “doghouse” and to downgrade myself to toy-grade helicopters for a while. I am hoping that this punishment will put my overconfidence to rest and give me a chance to brush up on my basic skills with RC helicopters.
In the last two videos, I reviewed two very simple 2-channel toy-grade RC helicopters from Happy Cow Toys and World Tech Toys:

In this video, I am reviewing not one but four new 2-channel toy RC helicopters, which I had purchased from Five Below for $5 plus tax each! They are all XVB brand, and their models are “Blaze Elite” (in two different color combinations), “Thunder Copter” and “Sky Wheels”:

Being so inexpensive, do they even fly? You have to watch this video to find out!

found your video after buying a helecopter from 5 below... also would like to note how much more durable they are... used to be more expensive (small) ones were very fragile which you only needed to tip over, hit blade once, blades are damaged and maybe some gears.... father was out about 60 dollars. this 5 dollar one is quite amazing though. I rather like my purchase :D
looked into increasing battery capacity with a spare 350mah battery i had lying around and started wondering how they have adjustable trim. had not seen anything of not inside it so i assume it is in chip (like a modifier for power delivered to motors) but am unsure. was able to fly with added weight of battery so i intend to add it eventually and then dial in trim a tad more, is almost stable enough to go straight woot woot

For the ones that spin even when adjusting the trim, is there any fix?
