I fish in SE Louisiana, actually in St Bernard Parish , been using almost the same set up but using a C -14 2500 on Falcon rod , best set up for fighting trout on shallow flats in winter , first time seeing your video, really enjoyed it thanks
My dad like the rods that bend down to the handle 🧐 like the Shakespeare and Zebco me I need stiffer moderate for rivers and stream and fast for the boat on the lakes. Hi Desert trout fishing is just fun. Nice video on the rods. Very nice
Thanks Capt. Love catching trout on my ML rod, however here in VA the striper are now showing up and crushing the hard baits that I'm throwing. Really fun to catch but I'm switching out my rods now for medium.
This was fantastic! I’m planning to be in Florida for an extended time, and already have the Stradic ci4+ and a rod that I think has a similar action. Now just gotta find the fish!

Question.. I have been using baitcast for 30+ years. I went surf fishing with some friends last weekend and tried out my friends spinning rod/reel.. so I stumbled on this video as I am now in the market to take up spinning. You say medium light, medium soft - but every written guide out there on the internet says medium-heavy fast action for specs and/or redfish.. Why do you choose this over what I have seen the mass majority recommend?

I have a 7.5’ medium rod, 2500 Twin Power reel with 15 lb braid with 10 ft leader. Is that too heavy for trout? Do I need a swivel in line to stop line twist?
You shouldn’t need a swivel with that reel it has excellent line management as long as you are using a quality braid.
That’s in no way to heavy for trout I use medium power rods for them all the time without issue.
I will say I’m not sure you need such a long leader maybe 3 feet at most.
@@drunknnirish Thanks, it worked just fine, used an ultra light swivel with 3 ft 6 lb flouro leader caught my limit both days.
Awesome tip! I generally like medium to medium light rods, for trout and reds. I like a rod that has a good parabolic bend. I can’t afford 20 different rods at the moment, I like to find good all around rods, would this rod work for reds as well? Your feedback is much appreciated! Thanks for all the help sir
It'll work for reds as well. I use a similar rod almost consistently for snook, trout, and reds. Especially when fishing a 17mr or 18mr MirroLure. I also fish the lighter jigs and soft plastics less than a 1/4 ounce. When fishing larger hard baits like the 27mr, topwater, or larger than 1/4 ounce jigs I like a medium rod. That means only 2 rod types.

Too small. The spin fishers are heavier reels
