  • Out for a little redemption, fishing for river smallmouth on the same stretch I fished 3 days prior. 3 days prior I caught some smallies but also lost 3 really nice ones, fishing with my 5'6" light action rod. That rod just didn't have the backbone I needed to get a good hook set on the big girls. Today I brought my dedicated Ned rig rod, and did it help to bury that hook deep on these river monsters. As always, take care and thanks for watching.

      Thanks again Lanny! It's a beautiful river and the best part about it is, is that a lot of it is left untouched in its natural state and that there are miles of public fishing access to it. I plan to fish it a lot more this year.

      It's a beautiful river, with miles of undeveloped shore to fish. I don't fish it as much as I should. And I totally agree Derek; not many ways to fish that are as satisfying, simple and pure as wade fishing.

    Caught 10 smallies yday on a nedrig. These bits are the best thing invented for bass. Trick is to really be attentive as its so light the bite is often missed. I dont know how you can fish it in current though as too light.

    Do you do a constant retrieve on your Ned Rigs usually? I usually fish mine jigging vertically super slow with lots of pauses. Just wondering, as it looked like you were reeling constantly in the video. I know there are multiple techniques to the Ned and this peaked my interest.

    • @FitzYakin
      @FitzYakin  Před 3 lety +3

      I do a mix of different stuff Andy. I pop it, twitch it, retrieve it, pause it. I just mix it up a lot of times to see what the fish want on that particular day. And when fishing the rivers a lot of times I'm trying to keep it moving a little bit so as not to snag it on the bottom if I'm running it in current.
