Awe. Poor guy on the trumpet. It was good though: I don't play trumpet but that last note can't have been easy. I hope he didn't give himself a hard time too much.
Isabel Vickery Double Concert G, so a trumpet A, it’s a bitch to play. There’s one in The First Circle and it’s really satisfying when you get it, but when you fall short ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I was at the Saturday show; twas amazing to hear 17,000+ people tearing up and sniffling at the sad parts of the movie I've also never seen so many great home-made Yellow Mia Dresses
Ross Reyes I'm kicking myself for not getting tickets. I would've needed a couple of real handkerchiefs. Tissues would not have been enough for me. Congrats on seeing it live though 🙂
wish I could be there with justin conducting. it amazes me how spot on their timings are. one of my favourite films of all time, made me feel all sorts of emotions i never felt before! the orchestra simply brings a whole new taste to it :')
If that was Arturo Sandoval, I'm not going to expect anyone to nail that A over high C in the solo. Chops must've been pounded after hours of playing. It's Holloywood and there must be more than a few guys who can do it as a stand-alone performance, but man...! The concert as a whole must be miserable to trumpet players.
OMG! I wanted to go to this so badly, but we had already made plans for Palm Springs (keeping with theme of the movie, you can't have everything). Thank you so much for posting this! It was even better than I had imagined!
Were they playing over the original audio? or where they playing independently, cause if they were, they were phenomenal! they sounded just like the original. And regarding the Trumpet solo, it was literally just the extremely (hard) high note that was messed up, otherwise it was just splendid.
sophstress that doesn't really help..Are they playing along or independently???? (sorry if I sound rude, I'm just not that smart, you can probably tell)
I heard it too. Poor guy he had to be so much stressed to hit that note while playing that tremolo right as the original studio version where you can literally hear the waves of the tremolo. He probably ran out if breath and than got so much stressed as the conductor had to catch up with the video. And maybe if it was getting colder it probably didn't help very much the instrument but I know absolutely nothing about the weather over there but I did a concert out side once and it's a lot different than indoors too. But well it's a hard note to reach let's admit it.
Enogimka there could have been a lot of factors to affect their playing you're absolutely right there, but a musician of that caliber should be able to handle it.
Ximena Hernandez it's not like it was bad. That solo is very, very difficult to play. People train for years to hit that final note. Then again the musician could've done a better job. But that applies to everything in life.
Cameron Nielson it's not only death. It should never be attempted at the end of a 2 hour concert enemy if you are Arturo or Bergeron because there will be a buff hole in your lips where your mouthpiece is because your lips will explode and your lungs will implode. (It feels like they would at least. I'll never know cause I'm not good at playing high notes)
I was there the second night, he played basically altissimo for trumpet. It didn't sound like any note, but an extremely high sound coming out of the trumpet. Don't get me wrong, Arturo Sandoval is absolutely amazing and he did better than anyone ever had could under the conditions he was in, but the second night (in my opinion) his solo was much better :)
Why didn't you record the very end as well, which is a big part of that ending? When they look at each other's eyes, as a last goodbye? That's where it hits the feelings the most.
I know he'll be going at a couple of Jazz festivals I know for a fact he'll be at the Jazz festival of Montreal at the beginning of July something around those days. Maybe look up to the closest Jazz festival near where you live and he might come by who knows. I've learn about that concert in Montreal cause I was doing research for a school project on La La Land search for it and you might found out he's gonna come near where you live.
Korea tour was REALLY TERRIBLE. The trumpet solo made mistakes all time, piano solo missed her parts, every orchestra had lots of mistakes (even no sync). We are really upset.
The trumpet was so poor also all the sounds are poor!!! When I went to the game of thrones concert, it was exactitude how the music sounds. I'm glad I didn't buy tickets for that concert.
oooo my condolences to the solo part
Indeed
He was probably put off by the annoying habit so Americans have of wooping and cheering over his/ her performance
omg i thought i was over la la land
but turns out I'm not
ithought i did but i never got pass the film lmaoo
@@Ajajqiqjaa the story was not good but the cinematography, editing, and the music that makes its great
I cry everytime I watch the movie, but this time I cried over that trumpet solo. I feel so bad 😶
Ouch, that poor trumpet player...
DarthOliptius that player played trumpet like shit at Korea concert.
I know! I was there it was so fucking sad LOL
thats so fcking hard to play, almost impossible live
As a trumpeter, I feel bad.
one of my favorite parts from the score and he had to croak
how come no one is talking about how fucking far that camera can zoom in
RIGHT?
A trick: watch movies at flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching all kinds of movies these days.
@Mathias Zayd definitely, have been watching on flixzone for since december myself :D
@Mathias Zayd yup, I've been watching on Flixzone for since november myself :)
@Mathias Zayd yea, I've been watching on flixzone for months myself =)
That trumpet player deserves a medal.
yeah, a good effort medal, or better yet a participant ribbon.
Really. I thought he stacked it!
He died after that piece.
I don't cry at movies but I more than likely cried like a baby if I saw La La Land like this
Ardent Imagery I was there and I was def crying like a baby. So powerful.
Awe. Poor guy on the trumpet. It was good though: I don't play trumpet but that last note can't have been easy. I hope he didn't give himself a hard time too much.
to be fair, trumpets aren't designed to be played up there.
The fact that people clap in encouragement moves me
Yeah, it didn't. If you know a little about music though it was a triple high C I believe.

I was there!!! One of the best days of my life
Alay Skye 😐
I'm so jealous of you. I would immediately buy a ticket if they did this somewhere in Europe.

Rose Rey 😐
Rose Rey How long does it last?? Is it a screening of the whole film with the orchestra playing every song?
I was here and sandoval was killing it on trumpet, even if he did miss that note. truly a magical experience.

Still get chills everytime I listen to the ending
so excited to see this at the sydney opera house in december 😍
Riley Herbert Is that orchestra touring La La Land concert?
Thank you for uploading this beautiful video. We were unable to make it to LA from out of town. It was an all around treat!
I would absolutely die if I saw this live.
the choir is just so good in the background!!
DUDE, WHO'S CHOPPING ONIONS?!
I fucking love justin hurwitz
OMG! I wanted to go to this so badly, but we had already made plans for Palm Springs (keeping with theme of the movie, you can't have everything). Thank you so much for posting this! It was even better than I had imagined!
this is so cool
This is magic ! Thank you thank you thank you

Carlos Alejandro Alvarenga they're playing this live (independently). They're not playing over a recording
hypno159753 OK, thank you. This sounds amazing!
Carlos Alejandro Alvarenga I think this is the original orchestra that recorded for the actual movie. They're amazing
hypno159753 No wonder they sounded just like the soundtrack😂. They were just amazing!!!!!!
This is so amazing, like a dream come true. We don't have that here in NYC :(
I was there and it was great! Loved it!
This is so cool! I would love to be there!!💖
thanks for posting. would love to see it live.
That's so cool they had fire work things
Does anyone else find the piano tuned incredibly sharp?
I cry the complety movie, but in this part my heart just broken
So everybody just gone ignore that trumpet solo?

Ximena Hernandez I bet if they do it indoors it might come out clearer but anyways.
Enogimka too bad this wasn't the case. I'm just trying to figure out why you so pressed with what I think of the solo lolol
Ximena Hernandez it's not like it was bad. That solo is very, very difficult to play. People train for years to hit that final note. Then again the musician could've done a better job. But that applies to everything in life.
i wish i could experience this live 😭😭😭😭
its moments like these that i wish to experience but cant cuz well theyre not doing it anymore. im such a sucker for "old" things
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I hope i can go there
Trumpet gotta hit that high note like OOOAAAHHHH YYEEAAHH!!!!!
I Have Vigors the really high notes are though over rated and often sounds like shit when played. (I'm a trumpet player)
This scene absolutely killed me.
5:19 I got chills, and they stayed there until the end!!
That must've been spectacular.
영화로 이런 음악을...

Thak uou for sharing this video
Bravo
Wish I could have gone that night :'(
I'm badly wanted to be there ;(
Kill me, I can't live after this
was that the original orchestra?
yes
I dont think so. They sound not good enough.
Ngọc Nguyễn Thái live performances are almost incomparable to the studio version,
That poor trumpet solo
5:45 :v
Christian Berchelt gotta hit dat high note like ooooo ohhh yeaaheeahh!!!!!
...im not crying YOURE crying
When was this? Where was it? Why wasn't I there? 😢
Hollywood bowl and date. Is thta not enough for ya?
Damn those ninjas cutting onions again
Does anyone know if the trumpet player was able to hit the note on the second night? (5/27)
TheGoldApproach You can't really blame him. I play trumpet, that note is literally death
Cameron Nielson it's not only death. It should never be attempted at the end of a 2 hour concert enemy if you are Arturo or Bergeron because there will be a buff hole in your lips where your mouthpiece is because your lips will explode and your lungs will implode. This may be the most LA thing I’ve ever witnessed…
anybody knows if they're ever gonna perform in mexico sometime? i really need to listen to this live myself
Why didn't you record the very end as well, which is a big part of that ending? When they look at each other's eyes, as a last goodbye? That's where it hits the feelings the most.
Nicolas Charly there are many other recordings; I'm sure you'll find one more to your liking.
😍😍😍😍😍
nice, but it can be a lot better, and the music is exceptional, which orchestra is it?
The trumpet player wasn't that bad
Your right he wasn't that bad, just absolutely awful, ruined it
Will Justin be composing it everywhere or was it just for the Hollywood bowl?
Justin only conducted for this (sadly) but the conductor of the other orchestras performing the other performances will be conducting.

What camera did you use?
Fernanda Dewan Tatum canon sx50
babayaga
How many duration???
Do you have the beginning of the performance?
Danny Zander no, someone was blocking my view for most of the show
ouch the Trumpet
That trumpet solo, just killed me T.T I mean, why?? What happened?
We saw it with the Utah Symphony and it was so bad.
That trumpet guy is over :)
Was it worth going there?
I also wanna know it
Adam Kuzanski yes, but going to the bowl is always worth it
Adam Kuzanski oh yes. So worth it!
Korea tour was REALLY TERRIBLE. The trumpet solo made mistakes all time, piano solo missed her parts, every orchestra had lots of mistakes (even no sync). We are really upset.
robot director
Someone needs to make La La Land into a musical god dammit
como me pudo arruinar la cancion el trumpetista :'( ... hasta los mas profesionales se equivocan.
es que la parte del trompetista es la más difícil de ejecutar Será que por eso no sale tal como en el Soundtrack de la película
The trumpet was so poor also all the sounds are poor!!! When I went to the game of thrones concert, it was exactitude how the music sounds. I'm glad I didn't buy tickets for that concert.
Franki Llamoca well... got themes are less complicated
