Before beginning the song, Starship founding vocalist and driving force Mickey Thomas stated that some artists, in the process of creating their signature sound may accidently do something that defines their career. The recording of Starship's debut album 'Knee Deep in the Hoopla' would certainly qualify as such an occurrence, as the band incidently recorded one of the defining rock anthems of the 1980's.
It's that one of those songs that everyone knows, because at one point or another in your life it will almost certainly find you. Whether it be it's usage on the radio, in a movie, a commercial, a mixtape; the song's reach is unfathomable! Though critically panned, the song is undoubtedly loved by the masses and has become synonymous with rock and roll.
