Welcome !! It is good to see a Black Man representing to get another perspective on reading and literature. Your video made my day ! I am a Black Man and enjoy reading and books, my parents during my childhood exposed me to literature and reading. Continue to be an Inspiration.
Welcome!!! And please, please, PLEASE don't ever compare your reading, or reading pace, or reading amount, or number of books owned to others on Booktube. And many people who are "reading hundreds" of books are mostly listening to audible books. It takes time and effort to be still and actually read, therefore it takes longer and you'll actually read less, compared to those "hundreds". The I "read" 50 books this month (for example) is deceptive and tends to freak some people out, and puts unnecessary pressure on new readers, and can literally suck the joy out of reading (many have said as much on Booktube). PLEASE read at your own pace, and enjoy your story experiences! Thanks for sharing with us 😃 Looking forward to seeing what you'll be reading soon. Take care 😁
There’s a guy at my job who reads at a faster pace than I do. I explained to him It takes me while to read through book sometimes because not only am I reading, but I’m picturing what I just read in my head. It helps me understand things better when I see it.
@@THEEStickyxbootz I read at a decent pace... I can average 30 pages in 30 minutes, or an hour if I'm truly engrossed and taking it all in and picturing everything in my mind (like you). I'm always thinking... why are people in such a hurry?? It's not a race. Books are meant to be enjoyed... experienced. Keep reading at YOUR pace and enjoy YOUR experience 😃
Not gonna lie, this video even made me a little emotional. I’m so glad that you’re here and willing to tackle the issue of stigmatizing reading in the black community. There are so many hobbies and spaces to get involved in and black people deserve to be a part of every single one of them! Can’t wait to see more content from you!!
Aside from being a great hobby; there are so many health benefits to reading. Reducing stress, teaching empathy, broadening your understanding of other people. Its fantastic. Best of luck with this channel!
”Just vibe out and read a book, bro!” I want this on a t-shirt!!😂 Very important point at the end and I totally agree, I’m excited to follow you on your reading journey! Subscribed😊
Welcome to booktube! In case you don't want an Ereader- If you have a library card- see if your library has libby- you can read right on your phone if that works for you. Goosebumps are still grabbing the kids in middle school. great newbie tag!
Love that you are a Black man willing to be a role model. Your channel will inspire other men to follow your lead. Seeing is believing = manifestation! You may enjoy Kiese Laymon's books. He writes fiction with a magical realism vibe to them. His memoir, HEAVY, is the best memoir I've ever read! He really nails the Black male experience. Wishing you soooo much luck in your BookTube journey 🌻
Hey man as a biker in an M/C I appreciate you for making this channel. None of my homies read and if I brought up any books I’d read they’d have a field day…
Also I got a few recommendations of different genres! Band of brothers by Stephen Ambrose(world war 2), As A Man Thinketh by James Allen(Self improvement really short but filled with greatness), Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson (Great standalone fantasy novel that’s a great entry into the Cosmere),and lastly Dark Matter by Blake Crouch (AMAZING Sci-fi Thriller).
we need more people that look like us, live like us etc. on booktube!! no hate to the existing community but it’s disheartening not seeing people that you have things in common with doing things that you’re passionate about. i think that’s a big reason that my love for reading faded. i’m glad that you’re here!

Loc D’ Booktician, Books with Brandie Shanae, Booked and Busy. Those are a few booktubers I watch who are black women. They’re awesome. If you look into them I hope you enjoy their channel.
I feel this so very deeply. Full disclosure, I'm a white dude, but being trans and gay and neurodivergent I also have my fair share of intersectionalities, and so I honestly find it super depressing to see a lack of diversity in the book community. It's nowhere near as bad as it was just five years ago (when I was old and the booktube community was a younger demographic reading books I didn't have an interest in), and now people are more interested in diversifying their reading experience (I mean, I'm still old, but they're older too, and now I can find more books I am interested in), but like... I want to see different people, hear different points of view, consider things I wouldn't have thought of otherwise. I understand what it means to feel awesome that there are people like you, but coming at it from the other end of the spectrum? I need this community to be as broad and as diverse as possible, hell, all of society. It has to be, it's so important, because how in the hell are we going to do this puzzle if we're missing half the parts? Love to see people like this guy on Booktube, and hope to find more. I do want to be represented as well, I don't think I know a singular transmasc booktuber, and it sucks. Feeling invisible sucks, I wish I didn't just feel 'well I'm used to it' about it. I'm sorry if this is rambly and makes no sense.
Yo!!! As a female black educator and specifically an English teacher in the inner city, this is SO REFRESHING!!!! Oh my goodness, God bless you for real and I pray your booktube journey is fulfilling for you and your community! Keep it up frfr
Loved your video! I found you through M-J. I’m a retired English teacher, and I can tell you that I would have LOVED to have had you in one of my high school English classes! My heart melted when you talked about both Scholastic Books and The Great Gatsby! Best of luck with your channel! 😊
100% agree that we don't see a lot of male booktubers, let alone poc. I'm so glad you popped up on my suggestions. I will binge watch all your available videos, subscribe, and then go on a booktube newbie tag binge watch in hopes of finding new favorite content creators. Can't wait to see more content from you ✌️👏
Thank you, thank you and thank you! I have a black teenage son and I’m not sure why he thinks reading is boring , but I’m SO HAPPY TO HAVE FOUND YOUR CHANNEL. It’s great representation for young black men! It’s not your average CZcams video now days and I love it. I can’t wait to show him your video to show him it’s okay to read, it’s okay to embrace the things that other kids aren’t doing these days. Thank you again and looking forward to seeing your videos ❤

Welcome to the community! I love that he has pushed boundaries and opened the door for so many people to share their love of books. ❤ it's nice to see a different perspective
Welcome to the community. I was actually starting to be a little turned off by most of the other channels, but you just seem so genuine and truly have a love for reading. I can't wait to see where your reading journey will lead you.
I am so glad you have joined BookTube. We need more men, African-descendent Booktubers and various other cultures and heritages. The more the merrier! As a Caucasian descendent I like various viewpoints! I like various peeps sharing their lives, experiences and BOOKS. ❤❤❤
I am so glad you’re here! You’re right about men not reading. It’s not a loser or geek thing. Reading broadens our minds. It doesn’t matter what genre you read, but you’re always learning. Reading takes you to places that tv and movies can’t. Our imagination is the best place to be. You’re going to be very popular on Booktube. I am definitely a fan❤❤
honestly I could not keep a smile off my face the entire time I was watching this video. but the kicker for me was when you mentioned the Magic Tree House :) such an incredible feeling of nostalgia and joy came over me for that. I'm so looking forward to watching the other things on your channel! this was so terrific to watch & you're so easy to listen to!
Love to see another man, nonetheless a black man, join the community and being himself !! I just recently started a booktube channel too, excited to see ur journey man 👏🏾
Your voice is so important! I’m a retired teacher but if I still had students I would show them your videos. I hear you about Scholastic Book Fairs. I’m pushing seventy and I can still remember the excitement of buying new books - even the smell of them! Looking forward to watching your channel grow.
when i was a children's librarian i was told it was really important that i, as a guy, was there encouraging reading in young boys. you're absolutely right there is a weird stigma about boys and men reading. i was often the only guy at my branch. it's a massive bummer. i couldn't really do much aside from try to help kids who's parents dragged them in find something they'd actually like. also for the 120 books a year thing! reading was my job and hobby and i could still barely hit 100. it's more about quality than quantity if you read 12 good books it's better than reading 25 books that sucked and 5 okay ones. trying to keep up with it at that pace WILL burn you out. listening to audio books while you do chores does help sneak in a couple extra, though. as for an e reader, i'd look around thrift stores. i found a used one for $30 a few years back. you can also just use your phone or an ipad. def make sure to see if your local library has libby!
Someone who just wants to be themselves, a broad spectrum of book tastes, inspired by the scholastic book fair, actually enjoyed the books assigned in school, and a college athlete… I’ve never related to a booktuber so much in my life 😭 Also, I have a kindle paperwhite and it does the job. I don’t love that everything is black and white because I like seeing colors on book covers but if you don’t mind that then it could suffice. I saw someone mention using Libby and your local library which I def recommend! Can’t wait to follow along!
I'm a college English professor and I gotta say this has made me real happy to see. It's given me some ideas of stuff to do and you def got a fan in me. Welcome man!
I can’t wait to hear more about your journey. I grew up in the Bronx. I remember my very first Scholastic Fair. I took maybe a dollar from my mother’s change purse so I could buy a nice book. And my first library card. There was no one to talk to about books in my family. But I knew they were the key to getting out of there.
Man i really like what youre bringing to the table bro. I really do think we need to see more book content from a male perspective. I've always enjoyed reading so this channel is a breath of fresh air, honestly.
I have been enjoying booktube for a while, and your perspective and background are needed in this community! Glad you are wanting to role model how reading is for everyone!
You are so needed on book tube! Immediate subscriber. I hope as a community we can uplift and share your vids so it’ll be easy for you to stay on this platform and feel supported for a long time!
So glad I’ve come across your video! Huge welcome to booktube and you’re absolutely right, there’s barely any black men on booktube at all! So glad to have you here, I know I’m gonna love this channel. 🫶🏾
OMG! Welcome to booktube! Finally something different. I expect this channel to be more realistic, and hey, don’t compare yourself with anybody but you, and as long as you’re reading you’re winning (like Allison pages says). Best wishes for your channel! 🎉🎉🎉
Love this. I’m going to really enjoy keeping up with your channel. I’m an 11th grade ELA teacher and it’s encouraging me to see an everyday man who loves to read.
You are such a breath of fresh air and THANK YOU for being a positive example for young men especially young black men, encouraging reading! Representation matters!!
I'm so excited to find your booktube account. I teach 4th grade at a lower income school and I LOVE that you start off by saying there is more than just sports and singing! I try to teach my students this and foster a love of reading in them.
Welcome-so glad you’re here! My 17yo son likes to read and I’m glad folks like you are out here being role models. I love to read-I need to read The Great Gatsby. I’m excited to be on this journey w you!
I think it’s great that you started this channel because it does bring such a fresh perspective! Booktube can tend to be a little elitist sometimes. Also, I LOVED those Scholastic book fairs when I was a kid!!😊
Really looking forward to following you! I've always been a big reader but now I'm really loving passing it onto my kids, who are 8 and 5. We're working through the Magic Treehouse series, too! We're on #26 and my kids are so into it. So glad to hear how much of an impact they made on you as a young reader too!
Welcome to the book community! We are happy to have you so far I’ve really enjoyed your content. Keep up the great work, it’s refreshing to see a man show the younger generation it’s ok to have other hobbies.
I want to thank you, congratulate you, and encourage you to CONTINUE SUCCEEDING in BEING THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE 👑👑👑🖤🖤🖤👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💯💯💯💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 Dang that was a lot of words ; but sincerely, thank you for sharing yourself with the world. Your presence is appreciated ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
I love that you decided to start a channel about books! I don’t have anyone in real life to talk about books with either. I love booktube. It’s so great to find people who love books like we do. Good luck! I’ll be looking for your posts. 😊
Your video had me smiling the whole time! Love that I happened upon your channel. I love your reasons for starting the channel. Your energy comes off very sincere and genuine. I've got my notifications on! 😊
OMG! Thank you so much for coming to youtube! Im excited to see your perspective on the books that you read. You will be inspiring alot of men! I subscribed to your channel immediately. I hope you inspire alot of people! All the best to you!
Welcome to book tube it's my favourite community 🥰 I am from Australia and thought Scholastic book fairs only happened in Australia and when I went to school which was in the 70s and 80s 😬🤣 I had no idea they had them in the US too! They are what got me addicted to reading too💜
Highly recommend getting a Nook reader for e-books instead of a Kindle, if you haven’t gotten an e-reader yet or want to get something different for reading on the go! I love my Nook reader so much more! You can have a wider variety of e-book formats on there, not just the Barnes and noble library options, and they’re not locked to your device and done get deleted/removed if they’re removed from the b&n storefront in general! I noticed Kindle cycles through e-books regularly and adds AND removes things all the time, and often once they’re removed you can have a lot of issues still reading that file. You can also share e-books with a Nook reader I believe, whereas Kindle has some finnicky/you possibly can’t share the file with others issues going on. Also, SUPER recommend getting a used e-reader of any kind that you pick out, as well as used books! I love going to Unclaimed Baggage to get used items personally in those veins! I don’t know if you read through comments on older videos, but I am just making your way through videos (all of them… Literally all of them LOL) and I figured I’d pipe up! Also, scholastic book fairs were SO AMAZING when I was younger! They apparently may still happen!!!
“And I just be fly man” 😂😂😂 had me in stitches welcome to booktube. Can’t wait to binge your videos. I’ve been on booktube for a while but I was inactive the last couple of years. I just wasn’t feeling it but I’m back on booktube actively & trying again so it’s nice to find other Black creators
Welcome to booktube! I loved the scholastic book fair too😁 Goosebumps and Magic Treehouse were a childhood staple! Looking forward to your future videos!
Im loving this channel already. I dont see to many young black men reading, so this is awesome. Im an avid kindle reader. I have several kindle fires and a paperwhite. I would suggest the paperwhite. Its like reading a physical book and very easy on the eyes. Very lightweight and easy to hold
I read some books on hoopla and Libby app through the library. I prefer a physical book but like you said it’s hard to take a book every where. I read the e books on my phone. Glad to watch your journey. I am older so our reading may be different but I encourage your journey and where it talked you. My grandson who is 17 likes finance and economics books too
Just discovered your videos and I am so glad! Really love your reasons for starting booktube! Excited to hear your thoughts and perspectives on books. I also struggle to articulate my thoughts on books to others, so you are def not alone in thinking that ☺️
Thanks so much for starting a CZcams channel! It is nice to see a man make booktube videos, and love your vision for the channel. As a man, it is sometimes nice to see a different perspective that is not dominated by female booktubers (who I love, subscribe, and adore btw) ❤❤
Danggg taking it back to the book fair days! Junie B Jones was a classic lol. Excited for your new journey. Becoming apart of the book community has been fun to get into. Hope you enjoy it!
Welcome! I love that you are wanting to bring more male perspectives to BookTube, and specifically POC! I started watching BookTubers for recommendations and to expand the variety of types of books I read…my TBR is so long and only gets longer as days pass; great problem to have. As far as ebooks, I prefer physical books but I do read ebooks as well. I use an iPad since I already have one. I can get ebooks from my library is Libby (especially when not sure if I want to really own the physical copy a particular book), and can get books via Apple Books, Kindle, B&N , and other book apps.
I've had the pleasure of running Scholastic Book Fairs the last few years and witnessed the joy the kids found in being able to pick out a book and buy it. Those fairs really do turn kids into readers! I'd recommend a Kindle Paperwhite - you can read anywhere in any kind of light with no trouble. Looking forward to following your journey.
Welcome welcome welcome so glad you have joined the community. I have been thinking about it myself and still have not jumped into it. I do enjoy watching others and getting new book ideas and I am please to see your young face I have hope maybe my son would pick up a book i am going to send your page to him lol. So continue your journey young man i will be looking to see what you bring to the table.
Welcome to booktube. I can not explain how excited I am to follow along with your journey. It is refreshing to have the opportunity to hear a fresh voice. Love the vibe and love how real you are. If you ever want sci fi or fantasy recs man, I got you. Also, these people who read 120 books a year are either lying or just super human. Enjoy the journey, thank you for sharing.
I’ve never embarked in booktube despite knowing it exists. My immediate hesitation is ALWAYS relating to not seeing that representation. And not just Blackness, but being from the trenches! The algorithm doing its thang! I’m sooo excited!! I feel seen 🥹 New subbie from Watts, CA. ❤
Ayeee brother!! I'm from the hood myself so a lot of this resonates with me. Let me say, your voice is so welcome here and I'm so warmed by your rays! I'm a black female grad student who likes hockey and reading. I just added you on goodreads!
Hello and welcome to Booktube. I am very happy to see a black man on booktube. I enjoy talking about books too. I look forward to your reading journey and chatting about books.
Welcome to BookTube! So excited to join you in your booktube journey and hear your perspectives! Also yesss getting started at Scholastic book fairs with Goosebumps! Those were the days 🎉
Welcome Brother ✊. I'm soooo glad to see you and watch your progression. As an educated Black Woman We do not see enough of our Brown Faces doing educational things. I look forward to watching where you go. Stay Authentic!
This video came up on my recommended unfortunately the book tube/booktok space doesn’t have much men of colour but it’s good to see another black person in this space. Sending love and positivity from Australia bro 💯
This is the first video I watched from you and I want to say THANK YOU!! Keep making these videos and showing up b/c your particular voice/experience is needed!!
Thank you for sharing. I love the memory of scholastic book fair, I was the same way.😊 lts great to see booktube growing, love to see and hear folks that are relatable.
Love this journey for you! Can't wait to see you grow as a reader. When it comes to Kindles, I have a Kindle Paperwhite and I love it. It's a great size and I take it with me everywhere. Also I love the kindle app so if you forget your kindle, you can pick up where you left off on your phone.
Subbed!!! You brought realness and we are here for it, I’ve feared (looks weird admitting it) starting book tube for the same reasons you described, but your right when I’m looking at reviews you literally have to type black to find us and that’s sad!
I haven’t traditionally used CZcams for literature (I LOVE books) but this somehow popped up in my feed. This is so awesome and warms my heart. Congratulations and it’s good to see you here!
This. Is. Great 😃!!! Your channel appeared in my feed and happy to see you creating content showing your interests, style, and perspective! We need you here 🙏🏾 Welcome to booktube 😊
Welcome❤, instantly subscribed, I just love your vibes. Plus a black young man who is not afraid to discuss the love of reading and romance books. Bringing in fresh new perspectives to the booktube space. Cherry on the top.
thank god i finally found a booktuber who don’t sound like they from a gated community 😭😭
i’m saying finally some one real

You're right. Most people who claim to have read a hundred or more books, its usually a combo of audiobooks and middle grade kids books.

when i was a children's librarian i was told it was really important that i, as a guy, was there encouraging reading in young boys. you're absolutely right there is a weird stigma about boys and men reading. i was often the only guy at my branch. it's a massive bummer. i couldn't really do much aside from try to help kids who's parents dragged them in find something they'd actually like.
also for the 120 books a year thing! reading was my job and hobby and i could still barely hit 100. it's more about quality than quantity if you read 12 good books it's better than reading 25 books that sucked and 5 okay ones. trying to keep up with it at that pace WILL burn you out. listening to audio books while you do chores does help sneak in a couple extra, though. as for an e reader, i'd look around thrift stores. i found a used one for $30 a few years back. you can also just use your phone or an ipad. def make sure to see if your local library has libby!
Someone who just wants to be themselves, a broad spectrum of book tastes, inspired by the scholastic book fair, actually enjoyed the books assigned in school, and a college athlete… I’ve never related to a booktuber so much in my life 😭
Also, I have a kindle paperwhite and it does the job. I don’t love that everything is black and white because I like seeing colors on book covers but if you don’t mind that then it could suffice. I saw someone mention using Libby and your local library which I def recommend! Can’t wait to follow along!
I loved those scholastic book fairs! Those Goosebumps covers drew me in like a moth to a flame. Welcome to booktube
So glad and proud to see you here❤🎉as a senior reader and booktube fan you are so WELCOME here
I'm a college English professor and I gotta say this has made me real happy to see.
Hey man, I’m a writer and I’m all here for this. It’s nice to know other men still read and each of us aren’t so alone.
If you ever start a book club or something, I want to be on the list.
Welcome to BookTube! Looking forward to your reading journey and channel 🎉📚
One of the most authentic and interesting booktube intros I've ever seen! Can't wait to see what else you create :)
Yesss!!! Those Scholastic book fairs were awesome in school!
I just found your channel. I'm so excited to see a young, Black man sharing his love of reading!!
Bro you brought it back with the goosebumps, and the Junie b jones!! Classic!!! The book fair use to be life bro lol
Welcome to the book community! We are happy to have you so far I’ve really enjoyed your content. Keep up the great work, it’s refreshing to see a man show the younger generation it’s ok to have other hobbies.
I am SO excited to hear your perspective on books! Especially popular titles.
Nice bro, glad to see someone that looks like me enter into the booktube game 👌🏾
They are what got me addicted to reading too💜
If you ever do merch, " vibe out and read a book bro. Itll help" should def be on it. Thank you for bringing your voice to book tube!
“And I just be fly man” 😂😂😂 had me in stitches
welcome to booktube.
My grandson who is 17 likes finance and economics books too
I had to pause your video to say, YES! Scholastic book fairs!! I totally know. They were the best. Really excited for the future of your channel!
Oh mannn, the Goosebumps books! Yes haha takes you back! They always had the best covers too 😅 love it !
Your love and passion for reading, knowledge and discussion makes me so happy. Really excited to be subscribed! also incredible hat 🙏🏻
I’m so excited for your booktube journey! I can’t wait to listen to your book recs and reviews 🤩
Hell yeah! The scholastic book fairs made my freaking week when I was a kid!! It was like Christmas
Welcome to BookTube and the community! ❤ Read whatever you want, however long you want. No pressure!
It’s gonna be such a fun ride for you to figure out your mature reading taste!!! Try everything and have so much fun 🎉
This is the first video I watched from you and I want to say THANK YOU!! Keep making these videos and showing up b/c your particular voice/experience is needed!!
Once you started talking about The Great Gatsby I knew you were a real one. Excited to see more videos from you!
Thank you for sharing. I love the memory of scholastic book fair, I was the same way.😊 lts great to see booktube growing, love to see and hear folks that are relatable.
SO glad to see more people like us in the community 🙌🏿
I'm so happy I found your channel and I'm looking forward to hearing your bookish thoughts and finding book recommendations. I'm glad you're here!
This. Is. Great 😃!!! Your channel appeared in my feed and happy to see you creating content showing your interests, style, and perspective! We need you here 🙏🏾 Welcome to booktube 😊
Instantly subscribed. Excited to see your booktube journey. Definitely need more men in the space.
Can’t wait to see your channel grow. I have a hard time finding booktubers I WANT to listen to. I feel like I just sat and chatted with a friend. ✨
Welcome❤, instantly subscribed, I just love your vibes. Plus a black young man who is not afraid to discuss the love of reading and romance books. Bringing in fresh new perspectives to the booktube space. Cherry on the top.
