Eva usually sang with a band, but decided to learn to play the guitar. She had only been playing for a year or two when she did this performance. I don't know that it was the first time for her playing at a performance, but it definitely comes naturally to her, and her finger style is almost as profound as her voice. She really makes that guitar speak to the audience.
I think that the pull out, and fade to black was was a bit of foreshadowing to the end of her life.
I am so grateful to the folks who discovered her, posthumously, and brought her works into the light of day for us all to enjoy. It could so easily have been lost forever.
Simply incomparable.
Someone once said that Judy was singing about Oz and Eva was singing about Heaven ❤
This will stick with me the rest of my life.
She would be gone before the year was out 😔 it's amazing to me that obviously the cancer was already growing inside her again and she was sick with a cold that night ❗ Her friends said she was disappointed with her performance❗ I couldn't imagine her sounding any better because this is one of the most beautiful performances I've ever seen and heard in my life ❗😌
This incredible voice and talent Eva Cassidy we lost her at only 33 years old. It always makes me wonder what would have happened with her career if she had lived. I think she would have gone on to become a household name super famous, and of course bless us with even more beautiful music. At least we have all these treasures she left behind though.
So many gems to discover from the incomparable Eva Cassidy. What a loss!
