Their deaths galvanized the city into saving itself and Gotham has limped on ever since. We are back to finish the job. And this time no misguided idealists will get in the way. Coming back to this scene… makes me think of Ras’ hipocrisy. He claims crime and despair are not the ways men should live… yet his plan to eradicate gotham’s corruption is fueling crime and despair to the maximum until the city falls completely. He was (kinda) stopped by Bruce’s parents at first… then found his true match in him: a man who had the courage to do what is necessary. What a great villain, great movie, and trilogy

hes acknowledged that humanities ways are destructive and parasitic like a burning fire and so through politics and the economy he decided to pour petrol on the fire and speed up the burning of the fire to clear way for new life, sometimes the forest must burn before it can be saved. their are many villains who have preached this philosophy Ras Al Ghul, Thanos, Apocolypse in X men. It comes back ironically from how we ourselves deal with inbalances in the eco-system the badger cull that happens all over the UK to this date. Its very skeptical heartless and thoroughly unimaginative way of dealing with issues such as a lack of resources, Influenza and overpopulation.

@wassup9378 In my opinion Raz's vision is logical. There is an idiom in China to explain this situation : 物极必反 (Wùjíbìfǎn) . It means that when things reach an extreme, they can only move in the opposite direction . Actually is what is happening in the western society. If you want to see the opposite, you only need to wait the decadence and the nihilism to reach their pinnacle. In his case , he is only trying to accelerate the process. I would never define Nolan's characters as complete villains. For his characters he tends to use shades of color in such a way that it becomes difficult for the spectator to place them in one category rather than another. In fact there is always a fund of truth in them, something shareable. Raz is the least insane of all of Batman's enemies. He has his own way to reach the justice

Think it has to do with how easy the League was able to infiltrate Gotham, "a city so corrupt, we've been able to infiltrate it on every level", and a city that's already so corrupted doesn't deserve to still exist as it is. Things may have been different if there waw some resistance to their presence, but there wasn't, and people involved with the League from Gotham were only interested in how much they'd be paid.

    Interesting fact:
When Ra's Al Ghul mentions Scarecrow turning the herb into an aerosol weapon, it's actually a very easy process. You could do it at home.
All you have to do is mix the raw powder with rubbing alcohol & vegetable oil, filter the solution through a coffee filter, and then pressurise the container with an air compressor.
You can do this with any herbal mixture you want.
The only thing you can't do at home is transform the herb into an even more powerful synthetic drug. For this part you'd need to identify the components within the herb that are causing the effect you want, and then isolate them.
Examples: Cocaine from the Coca leaf, Morphine from Opium, and Nicotine from Tobacco.
For this you'd need very expensive equipment called "High Performance Chromatography", amongst others.

one of the things i learned in this movie is the world is unfair. it does not mean you helped a friend means that they would be grateful for it - on the contrary some even come back to haunt you because you have been compassionate to them. it goes to show that not everyone holds the same moralities or ethics as you do.. ergo, be careful of the consequences you get no matter how good or bad you were.
