    Hello Rob and Ali, First, I stumbled across your videos a couple of days ago and have loved them, living your passion and enthusiasm. We are cruising with P&O on the Mutiny on the Bounty in October. Ali, I am plant-based, and my diet is very similar to yours. Did you find it difficult at all with the menus or asking for alternatives to suit your diet?

      Hi Feri. Thanks for the comment and we hope you have a fantastic time on Mystery Island. We were there again last week and Ali got a massage which she says was well worth the money. $35 for a full body 35 min massage from Mystery Island Massage. If you wanted to do this then definitely check them out.

    Looks absolutely gorgeous. Went for a day tour to Mana Island in Fiji when I was 14 years old and this reminds me a lot of that. Beautiful white sand and crystal clear water. The only difference is that there was a single resort on the island so had a few more facilities available.
    The film you were thinking of I’m guessing is From Here to Eternity with that famous rolling on the beach scene with the waves coming up over them.

      @robandalicruisetravel  Před rokem +1

      Hi Jason. Thanks for watching and we might have to put Mana Island on the list of places to go then. You are right, it was From Here to Eternity. Ali remembered when we got back on the ship.

    • @jasongoldie
      @jasongoldie Před rokem

      @@robandalicruisetravel The main island of Fiji is hit and miss depending on where you stay. We spent first half of the vacation at the Hyatt Regency Fiji (now called The Warwick). It was a very long trip from Nadi Airport as we were the last drop off being furthest away, but it had a lagoon on it’s doorstep protected by a coral reef.
      The second half was spent at what was then called The Regent of Fiji which was only about 15-20 minutes from Nadi. The water at the beach was murky, but that is when we went to Mana Island for the day.
      The islands in Fiji are spectacular with beautiful crystal clear water. Actually, Turtle Island Resort in the Yasawa group of islands is where the 1980 film The Blue Lagoon was filmed. Unfortunately it’s quite expensive to stay there as it only has 12 bures with each having their own beach. One can dream though.

      Hi Suzie and thanks for watching. We can honestly say we have never been anywhere quite like Mystery Island. It is a bit susceptible to the weather though and we have been on cruises where we've had to pass as the tenders can't get in or the locals can't get over to the island. This port is a bit of a chance with cruising and does seem to get missed quite a bit with the weather.

      Hi Elizabeth. All the traders who operate on Mystery Island take Australian dollars, US dollars or local currency which is Vatu. There are no EFTPOS or other electronic fund facilities available there so you will cash in either one of these currencies. Hope this helps.

    • @robandalicruisetravel
      @robandalicruisetravel  Před rokem +2

      Hi Mark. Mystery Island is an uninhabited Island and the locals come over from the big island when the ships come in to set up stalls and do tours. There is no electricity on the island so no EFTPOS or similar. Everything you buy on the island is cash. You can use AUD or local currency, Vatu, if you have some.

      Hi Dean. Bars and shops is probably a bit of a stretch. The island is uninhabited and the inhabitants of the big island come over in boats on cruise days to set up their stalls. Yes, they do all take AUD so no need to hunt around for Vatu.

      Hi Shannon. Thanks for the comment. We've never actually had an issue with these at passport control and we weren't really giving advice to people to do this, just that it is available. However, you are correct that it is possible that it could invalidate a passport, especially if it was over an page with details on or a visa, so your comments are absolutely taken on board. Thank you.
