Apart from the intense humidity between June and August there’s literally nothing to hate about Boston! It’s a wonderful place!

I love the cold I love old houses, I love history and I live in the bay area specifically silicon Valley so it would be a relief to live there.

Thank you for the video. You are correct Boston is amazing city. I was born there and lived in Watertown until I was 21 years old. I moved to San Diego in 1979 to escape the cold winters and the high cost of living. Now San Diego is a very expensive city. There has been many wonderful changes to Boston. When I was boy growing up in Boston in the 60s and 70s, Boston was an old, dirty grimy city and the Charles river was polluted and dirty , so was Boston Harbor. The city changed for the better. The city has history, great food, a sports mecca, museums. I do miss Boston and the people. Yes, their negatives, but if you can afford to live there it's great place to live. Also, there are high paying jobs like San Diego. Desirable cities will always be ex pensive.
@Anthony Petrozzelli I agree with you, Boston is a completely different city now compared to 20 years ago, especially after the Big Dig, it became even more beautiful. I love it and discover new favorite and amazing places all the time
Boston is amazing, but too pricey and crowded. After years of living in Boston and surrounding towns, I found the Pioneer Valley to be much more reasonable. Cost of living, housing, traffic, all has been easier to deal with here. When we first moved out here, we bought in Amherst, a house that for the price would not have gotten us much more than a small condo in Boston. Schools are fantastic, traffic is easy, and I am less than two hours down the Pike to Boston and three hours door to door driving into Manhattan, or I take a train. During my younger years, Boston was great, but I would not want to retire there, out here is much more reasonable and peaceful.

I welcome just a few weeks of humidity...I lived in Texas for two years where it was humid for 6 months. Also, love historical buildings
That's great, @City Dweller, we Bostonians, don't mind the weather. I personally love the seasonal changes just wish the winters didn't go for too long and were a tiny bit warmer. Global warming helps in that sense. This year the first winter storm with lots of snow came second week of January, we didn't have much in December and it wasn't that cold. Humidity is not too bad either, for me personally.
Love the winters (the longer, the better), but HATE summers….have lived in St. Louis a good portion of my life & discovered the heat & humidity here is the worst I’ve ever experienced anywhere: in the summer, not unusual to have long stretches of 100+ degrees in conjunction w/100% humidity- really! Visited San Antonio, TX in August & believe me, it has nothing on St. Louis. Didn’t notice much difference.
I grew up in Massachusetts... winter (meaning very cold) is usually November through March while summer (quite warm) is usually may through August. September/Oct is hit or miss, could be frigid one day and summer like the next. Its the same for March April and into May. In those 5 months you have to be prepared for anything: torrential rain, hurricane, tornado, nor'easters and even blizzards! But it's really a very wonderful and exciting place to live, you never know what your going to get

think that Seattle area is a little more expensive and houses are newer and the design is better , they are usually in a better shape … So it’s easier to find a nice move in condition homes there.
But Seattle area has a lot if problems now, So I am happy that we moved to Boston area.

If you're moving to Boston from the suburbs, be aware that large furniture appropriate for a big house in the suburbs may be too big to fit in a Boston apartment or condo. If finances allow, you may be well served to store your existing furniture, and get flat pack furniture like IKEA or some West Elm products that can be assembled in your unit. If you have a queen bed, make sure to get a split box spring if you can.

I traveled to Boston five years ago, but I wasn't surprised that the city has so many one way streets. I am from San Francisco, CA and the city was built on mountainsides meaning the hilliest city in the world. I love how the streets are numbered in Boston where the odd side numbers ascend and the even numbers descend. The only part of San Francisco that has street numbers like that in Boston is in the avenues, specifically the Sunset and Richmond districts in the vertical directions. I hate going to cities where the even side streets ascend and the odd side streets descend because that looks so boring, conventional, and common.

@@BostonAreaHomes I can't wait to move out of the San Francisco Bay Area after I retire from UPS because I need to live in an affordable environment where there is less traffic congestion and cleaner air quality. Boston would on be ideal for me to travel to during the spring, summer, and fall season where there is no snow around. There is a lot of driving in Boston just to get from point A to point B due to all those one way streets. I not only traveled to Boston, but I did go to New Hampshire and Maine. Very peaceful environment. I was shocked to find out Boston also has hills.
@@marlon94124 there are many affordable suburbs of Boston that are peaceful and not expensive, if you decide you want to head this way.

Chicago rents seem really cheap compared to Boston. Boston buildings are generally older and have less amenities. Even with a roommate, I paid more for rent. Taxes are lower though.

Boston has a lot more positives but the cold not for me. It can get -15F with wind. Winter is long. Summer spring fall is beautiful. 6 months of cold 6 months of nice weather. Very little crime. Economy super stable in good towns. Housing can vary 15 to 20% but it is hard to imagine 40% or 50% drop here. There aren't a lot of inventory manual labor is expensive here. Handyman can make as much as a physicians or lawyers.

Yes I've lived there b4 but never really got to enjoy due my situation. Rude is not even a good word.....loll....beyond Rude. But looking to moving back. Beautiful historic properties but hate the big dog rats. 🐕....hopefully can find a property affordable when I do.

What about bugs? Are they really bad in Boston during the warmer months? Do bugs gets inside your home allot?
@Momo S We do have mosquitoes and flies. There are screens on windows that don’t let them get into the house. These are mostly in areas where there is water and wooded areas, less so if you live in the city or in more urban areas. It’s not really a problem that interferes with your enjoyment of the warm weather, not for me, anyway.

Wow! This woman really downplayed all the negatives of Boston. I hate that place with a passion. Some of the rudest, nastiest, most racist, homophobic, and egotistical people I've ever met in my whole life were from Boston. The only city that has Boston beaten in that category is New York. I wouldn't live anywhere within 1000 miles of each of them.

I didn't think the cost living was that bad my problem was the lonely atmosphere people so rude racist horrible weather so many dark days really 22 years of suffering just because my son i had to stay .really sad place
