    You get the troop system, add the large Primus campfire kit, then add the 25cm Primus campfire skillet, then add six stainless steel plates, six stainless steel bowls, and a collapsible stainless steel strainer.

    • @newageselfreliance
      @newageselfreliance  Před 4 lety +1

      That is the most expensive kit I think anyone has ever recommended. Just the Large Primus Campfire Kit already costs more than the whole Stainless Steel kit in this video.

    I would go stainless steel hands down purely on the durability of it. Bonus being the clearer view measurements, durable lid and once seasoned well it will cook better even. Over time ( and not that long ) the Teflon will scratch and start coming off in your food as the coating wears away then it will start sticking and it doesn’t season up as well as the durable bottoms of stainless pans, then they become unusable or frustrating junk. The price difference will pay for multitude seasonings for a lifetime of the Stainless.

      @newageselfreliance  Před 4 lety +1

      We had a pan at the house that not only did the nonstick get scratched off and stop working, but it would flake off into the food sometimes. We had to through it away because it wasn't safe. The nonstick was Carolines favorite feature but now that I think about it I don't think it's worth the headache it will create later. Being able to cook over the campfire will really save on fuel expenses as well. Not only is the Stainless version cheaper but you are right it will last longer and I will get much more value out of it as well.

    I'd go with the stainless steel just for durability and the see thru cups and the stamped measurements in the metal of the pots when it turns black ya can still read it

    • @newageselfreliance
      @newageselfreliance  Před 4 lety

      I really like the measurement markers as well. I like not having to pour into multiple containers. I would have to filter the water in one container measure it in another and then finally into the cooking pot. It just saves time and there is less potential to spill.

      @newageselfreliance  Před 4 lety +1

      I was just thinking about how these larger pots would need a lot of fuel to do any kind of serious cooking. Being able to cook on an open fire would really be the best way to save on fuel costs. The stainless would hold up much better over a campfire than the aluminum and plastic will.

  • @randyyeager
    @randyyeager Před 4 lety +1

    if you do cook stuff onto the stainless cook set...you just put it back on the fire with some water in it and boil it for 5 mins...should loosen most of the stuff stuck on it and make it easier to clean.

    • @newageselfreliance
      @newageselfreliance  Před 4 lety +1

      None of my camp cooking pots right now are nonstick and I think that is why Caroline liked the idea. They are faster to clean but as you mentioned as soon as the nonstick starts scratching off and flaking they won't be safe to use anymore. I'm for sure keeping the stainless option.

      I found a glass lid lined with silicone that is flexible. It'll fit 10-12in pans. I just switched out the lid. There's a pinnacle 10" pan that doesn't have a lid at all and that's why I went looking.

    I’ve purchased the aluminum one, I didn’t even know it has stainless steel one, this is my daughter’s first pot and pan for her new apt, she has been using it for over a year now, on daily cooking and still as good as new, so I am not sure if stainless is the best choice judging from the quality of GSI I believe durability is always there, it’s more the preference now...

    • @newageselfreliance

      Is the non-stick working well? This would make for a really good space saving kit for an apt or dorm room. I think the Aluminum would be better for everyday cooking and cleaning. I can see how the stainless is more for camping and outdoor use.
