Flex Skull experiment Take 2

- Testing out a new product from Smooth-on called KX flex 90. A series of tests have been made on a smaller scale to figure out working time, coloring, and mixing different resins to create the best results.
Right no the best formula is 2 to 3 layers of pure kx flex with dye then the last layer is half smooth cast onyx fast and half kx flex.
This creates a durable and rigid enough material to be used for masks that won't crack or de-laminate the layers.
Still a work in progress.
Need to cast a upper next and test hinging.

noted. was trying out the youtube music addition and i turned the mix down as low as i could go but it didnt adjust the music volume so i removed it.

i just got my skull and i was wondering if i need to scratch the outside when gluing the fur on?
yes, any area you plan to glue and attach fabric its best to scratch the surface to allow the glue something to cling onto.
This is SO interesting, and I hope it works out! But how would you paint this? Straight up acrylics or flexbond first?
flexbond with acrylic or fabric paints. anything that remains flexible. in all honesty you wont be squishing and warping the material to this degree with normal use. ~Monoyasha

same weight and amount of material. price depends on the slushing and finishing times which we are still testing.

if you mean padding the inside then yes
This is so awesome!! Are the edges sharp near where it would sit on the face, or since its squishy it wouldn't matter?

removed the music. was trying out youtubes editing. no edges are sanded like out other skulls so no sharp edges.
Could you fur this type of material?
Yes with industrial glue like plumbing goop or super glue. ~Monoyasha
What age do you think it is best to purchase a skull dog ?
we require 18 yrs old to purchase but these heads are large so you can buy them for any age and remove padding as the child grows.
