Just as you said, I had watched several videos on adding mame roms to your Legends Arcade. Same programs, same setups, but I had no idea how to add the correct rom file, as the videos I watched did not have the games in zip files. Your video walked me straight through how to do it after finding what rom I wanted. THANK YOU SO MUCH! GOT THIS ALL SETUP ON CHRISTMAS BECAUSE OF YOU!
I have subscribed and thank you again! Most helpful video about this subject thus far.
Thanks for the video, lots of info not available elsewhere. I had been debating on whether or not to buy this, Walmart just got some more back in stock. After reading the comments and seeing all of the problems people are reporting, I decided instead to go with the Recroommasters cabinet with the emulator pro controller hooked up to a raspberry pi. Great build, easy to set up, as many games as I want (I'll never get the "low system storage" error), I can fully customize it, and zero problems since day one. Yes, it's definitely more expensive but it's also 100% frustration free which, to me, is worth the extra money. I also got one of their virtual pinball cabinets which is AWESOME. Anyway, love your videos, keep up the great work.
Thanks man, only tutorial that has every link needed in the description. Subbed.
This was perfect! I was able to load my old mame files thanks to your tutorial. Sure do appreciate it.
3+ years later this video is still accurate on the machine I just purchased from AtGames. Thank you very much for posting this!
Where do get the ROMs from please
@@lewisbennett567 It is illegal to distribute ROMs. You have to look them up yourself.
The most versatile multicade on the market! If your friends have arcade 1 ups don't show them the Legends Ultimate... you'll make them feel bad 😁
the value is definitely there for what you get... plus the continued support by atgames to make this cabinet even better 😁
@@Dsuds23 So glad I got mine Thursday before they sold out I would have been one sad camper. I'm enjoying the heck out of it.
Yes, many are now running out off room buying 1up for their arcade. I can see some advantage with a few set ups when you have friends over, each person can play a machine.
I think I would buy two or three Legends Ultimate Arcade Cabinets then customize each with a very cool theme.
@@quantumfx2677 yeah that would be great. I want to throw a SFV theme on mine. Looks like $250 minimum for the artwork. Have you seen cheaper?
This is the machine I've been waiting for. An arcade cabinet for Mame at a good price. And I don't even have to work with wires or anything. Simply plug a damn USB into it with my chosen games. I just pre-ordered atgames for Jan 31st shipment. Damn excited.
What a wonderful Tutorial - thank you for this!
Awesome job with the video. It's nice having a in depth how to guide to reference. My legends arcade will be here by December 31st ... hopefully 😊
Definitely making note of this one, in case I'm ever able to get the Legends Ultimate. Thanks. :)
They have them in stock at game stop right now
@@searchingforanswers1589 Cool. I'll have a look. Thanks.
Thank you for this! Super easy to follow!
No worries man, happy the video helped
Wow, thank you! I should be able to try this tomorrow.
I was unable to get this yesterday from Sam’s club ( sold out:(. Oh well I’ll get it eventually- so for now I’ll have to enjoy Golden Tee 1 up arcade machine. Great video.
i was trying for over a month. then I saw they were gonna have it at the one day sale last saturday. my mom got in the door the first 10 minutes and there was only 4 in stock. she got one and a lady next to her got 1. so that was 2 cabinets gone in the first 10 minutes they were open.
A great video and very helpful! Thanks so much for the review! :)
You folks are absolutely rocking it. Keep it up!
@@Restalgia Truly Appreciated!
Do you sell the games already loaded
thanks for making a walkthrough you are my number one jit for this
To anyone who sees this in the comments, have a wonderful day & remember you are Awesome😊. Thanks for the video Steve!
Thanks for all the help!
Thanks for the working cores!!!
Great post and thank you for all the info! One question I have is knowing which core is best for which game. Is there some where I can find that information or someway to know based on the game ROM?
HOLY COW THIS VIDEO IS A GODSEND. SUB'd
This tutorial was a good send for a newb like me thank you! Which emulator core would you select for scummvm games like monkey island etc?
Great video, thanks for walking through all this. I’ll be getting the ALU Mini 3/4 cab and very excited for it. I know this is a dumb question, but is there anyway to do this process with a MacBook Air instead of PC? I assume there isn’t but figured I’d ask...
Great video!!! Does this method also work for the standard gaming board as well?
If I ever finish filming my unboxing review for mine I will def give you a shout out!
Thanks for the tutorial Restalgia! I've been able to get my gba stuff to work, but I can't seem to get Mame games to work properly. When I boot up a game it shows some fuzzy snow, then a black screen saying factory default. So far tried robotron and joust with the two different Mame cores you suggested. Do I need to unzip the rom files or is there another Mame core you would suggest? Thanks
Thanks for this video! You made it a very easy process. What core would you suggest is best with MAME arcade games?
Can't say that I'm a fan of golf though...thanks for the tutorial and the links, some AWESOME emulator cores there! The link for the thumbnail packages is dead though...got an alternate link?
Great video! And thanks.
Where are people getting the cores? I see you link to one in a GitHub repo and I've seen others in dropbox. Are they being pulled from the machines themselves?
I believe those cores were provided by atgames, but there are members in the community working to get other retroarch cores ported and properly optimized
Are the ROMs you are using the same as coin-ops? I have a problem with coin-ops not saving high scores on 99% of the games which to me is the main replayability Factor. The graphics also seen better quality than coin-ops is there any difference? Thanks
Just picked up mine Friday from Walmart that I pre-ordered and I have been messing around with it since adding my own MAME roms. I'm not sure if this was covered but I have found out the following:
01) You can title your game rom whatever you want in the game title field in the Add-On Tool, but make sure you do not put certain special characters in the UCE file name. It will prompt you if you try to use a colon ( : ), but not a punctuation mark ( ' ). If you use the punctuation mark like in titles such as: Rush 'n Attack or King of Fighters '95, etc., the rom will NOT load. Also, if you use a ( & ) symbol in the game title field instead of the word ( and ), it will show as a question mark ( ? ) in the game title field on the menu, but will not affect game play.
02) You can now add over 100 roms to your flash drive and they will all display in multiple pages on the Legends Ultimate. I have 195 currently. (With current firmware 4.0+ I believe)
03) Some games run into slow-down such as: Hard Drivin' & Arabian Fight. Some are still playable, but the music slows and some of the action may too.
04) Some games that use split screens/duel screens can still be played if you config them in the options such as: Punch-Out!! and Warrior Blade.
05) Some games have their screens slipped to the side and can be config in the options too to flip them the correct way to play.
That's it for now. Love this system!
BTW- Has anyone found a Donkey Kong rom that works yet on MAME 2010 core? I have tried two and both load, but then lock up.
I found the Donkey Kong rom on Romsformame.com
But it worked for me on the 2003
@@sr.toastybuns302 Yesterday I downloaded the 2003 MAME core and the rom I had did work and didn't lock up.
You did a very thorough task of showing us how to add our own MAME games, thank you. But this comment/opinion is not aimed at you, but at ATGames. What a ridiculously long and convoluted process to add a simple game to the system. I mean it took about 5-7 minutes for a knowledgeable person (Restalgia) to add one game and had to jump thru hoops to find and load one game's art, create properly named folders etc. I have about 300 of my own games to add. So 300 games at 5 minutes per game = about 1500 minutes. 1500 minutes is 25 hours! What? Why can't the software in the machine go out to the web and search on its own and simply let you add a rom into a 'Rom' folder on your USB disk and voila, done? The machine's software should build everything it needs and put it where it needs to go based on the name of the Rom. If we as customers accept this process, it may just get worse down the road. Please note I completely understand how to add a game, but young people or newbies are gonna have trouble. Oh well, nice video though Restalgia, much appreciated.
maybe copyright . I agree it takes forever. I am just gonna hook up my pi
Sometimes you actually do have to do some work. It's worth the effort, I have created (and failed at many) about 50 working games and I love it, both the process and the end result. This includes MAME 2003, MAME2010, NES, SNES, and Sega games.
What buttons would you recommend? I need to replace button A for my legends ultimate
doesnt work for me anymore anyone else have this problem cause i installed the game on multiple drives and i redownloaded the software and used different cores and different games but it still just says that its done andit doesnt make the file! anyone else?
One more question, are the save states for the games saved to the USB Stick itself? I am curious how that works since I use the save states right now as a way of saving my high scores, and want to make sure they are kept intact if I take the stick out and reinsert it.
showtime23: I don't quite understand the differences in the emulator core file types. I know that the add-on tool only wants/works with libretro.so format. So that being said, is there a libretro.so core for PS1 or n64 roms? Do I need to some how converts the core .exe that I found for these systems to .so?
I got an atgames legends mini on the way, gamestop had them for 50 bucks! so I was curious about modding solutions cus I know the stock unit only comes with like 100 games... so might have to install this on it!
First off thanks for the tutorial. Just what my Ultimate Legends needed. Now, what about the best emulator/core for a N64 game...Golden Eye was so much fun. Thanks?
Hi, when I load up the rom on the machine it loads and then exits
What would keep the games from showing up on the screen when the USB drive is plugged in ?
Im new to this. Can anyone please point me in the right direction as to where to actually get the Roms? Thanks!
Is there support yet for Atari roms? I ask this because I'm a huge Atari fan and would love to play more games on this. Thx!
Great tutorial and thank you!
i just have one problem.
What to i do wrong becouse when i put the usb stick there is no addon showing on menu? My coinops and everything works well but i cant add my another games.
Great video, thanks but only at a 50% success rate in making arcade games work on the ATGames cabinet (via MAME). Tried different cores, but really hit and miss. Anyone know how to get sound effects to work in Galaga? I have the sound files zipped up. Can't get Ms. Pac-Man or Tapper to work, tried different cores and I know the ROMs are good. Wish it wasn't this difficult. Any suggestions?
So its possible to add vertical shmups?
And play in tate mode
Is this video still a valid/preferred way to add new games to ALU? Seems like it might be outdated, but it's definitely the easiest to follow video I've found. I've never done this type of thing before, so I'm a bit lost as to the best place to start.
What size usb flash drives would you recommend? Should i use more than 1 usb memory drive?
Hi there, I know it should being the ssme system, but just in case, does this also work for the controllers-only systems they have? (Gamer Pro and Gamer Mini)
Is there a place where I can get the add on tool softwear for my MAC? I'm really to new to this and I could use some help.
Should I use CHD or Rom files? Having a tough time getting NFL Blitz 2000 to work...
Thank you for this video. Will this work with my AT Games Legends Gamer Pro Wireless Arcade Fight Stick also, not just the standup Arcade Cabinet?
Yep
I can only get the art cover to show up on the Ultimate Legends. Will not play game and can not find Bezel artwork? Please help
I followed step by step.Downloaded winrar, and i cant export anything. Can someone please help?
Hello, new subscriber here. Does this same process applies for the new model? I have many games so I’m thinking doing one at a time will take me hours 😊
Yep, works for all atgames products
Hello just a heads up the Thumbnail Packages link does not seem to be working...
Did anyone end up creating a resource (downloadable zip directory) that contains all the properly sized Bezel Arts? Or for that matter, some premade (known working) UCE files? I am struggling with my tests. My thumbdrive shows up under the BYOG menu, not the normal game menu, and when I click on the game (box art) it attempts to load, but nothing happens.
I am new to this and I think I may have missed something. Where do I get the ROMS from? Is that a separate website like coolroms?
you can, but if you don't want a cease and desist, you might want to invest in something like a retrode if you own the games
Perhaps I am an idiot, but I don’t seem to understand one thing. Do the ROMs have to be MAME in order to work with the MAME core?
I realize there are other cores, but you used the MAME core for an FBA game. So what is the correlation there?
I'm having a problem playing some older Mame Roms, Tempest, Battle Zone, Asteroids and Asteroids Deluxe. Tried the 2003 and 2010 Cores, no luck. Any tips?
Can't get spinner control or trackball to work with mame but I have seen some of your videos with it running ? Help please
Is this old school one by one the only solution out there yet? Isn’t there a zip like pi has to get an all in one solution out there ?
Is it possible, with the right Core (and maybe a needed bios?) to run N64 games on the Legends Ultimate?
What am I missing? When I try to open the Dropbox with many Mame you say to download and mame 2010 you have us download I get error.
What am I doing wrong?
My usb slot doesn’t read the usb stick? Also when I switched to another usb stick, it locks up the control deck and the buttons and controls are stuck until I remove the usb stick? Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
I'm having trouble getting NES, SNES and Sega Genesis games to run. Is there trick to this?
I get a flashing usb stick icon on the top right of the screen. I did format FAT32, but I do have like 200 games on it.
Do you have to convert one game at a time or can you do it in groups?
One game at a time.
Do you know if there is a working cps core for running street fighter or final fight
I followed all the steps and get add-on tool to say build was a success but when I run game on Legends it says loading than disappears back to add-on games screen...any ideas? thanks in advance
Thanks for the video. I've done about 15 games by the instructions provided in the video. So far I can only get 2 of them to work, so I think I am doing it right. I've tried both Mame cores so I think it may be the roms. Is there a way to find compatible roms or is there something I am possibly doing wrong?
there is a problem with the Core lin in Dropbox for the working cores.... I need them to finish the adding the games/roms to my atgames legends ultimate
Hay brother, I need help with coinops when I try to download it my computer asks what do you want to open program with??? I click on coinops to download and it gives me a few choices torrents and two others that don't work. Im sure im doing something wrong. Help please
None of the files worked. When i go to the add on tool. boxart, and core, etc doenst show up
Do you have a resource to download bezels formatted for the Atgames machine?
the beleze project is a good resource, but you will need to resize in MS Paint or something like that
Only issue i'm having is getting the playstaton roms with multiple files to play. I'm leaving them in a zipped folder, do i have to convert them into a single file?
Can you do a video on how to add NES, Atari, and Sega? I am having trouble with maybe the "Core" that I am using or the way my file is set up. I would like to expand beyond MAME games! Thanks!
The thumbnail packages dont download. it stops and doenst say why
Hey. Great video. I think I have done everything right but the add on option doesn't show for me. Is there another step or does this mean I have messed up somewhere?
I heard that for CoinOPSX to work the USB needs to have two partitions. This is a recent change. It is possible that for the add on tool the same needs to happen. If you decide to try this make sure you have a back up 😊
I am unable to find the cores for the games? Is there a step missing?
Thumbnail Packages link doesn't work. Is there somewhere I could find the thumbnail pack?
Thank you
Could I ask if you know if you can upgrade your graphics on a arcade build thanks
Just jumping in to Legends Ultimate Arcade and love it. Started the exercise of adding my own games beginning with Donkey Kong. Used mame2003 core, looks good but doesn't have all the sounds .. when I used mame2016 core, I get the sounds but it's laggy and crackling sound. Is there some type of index on which cores to use for various games. I'm hoping to not take hours getting all my favorite games added.
have you tried the mame2010 core?
@@Restalgia When I generated the UCE file with mame2010 core, it will start up but locks up and crashes in different spots. mame2003 and mame2016 are the only cores I could find that create any stability.
where do you go to get your own games to put onto the legends gamer pro
hi bro, very good video just one question, i did everything you said but in the field that i most select the core it says that " selected emulation core is not an arm aarch 64 compatible library file" and that happend with absolutely all cores i downloaded, i downloaded i think all but still the same, can you help me?
can u do updated version for 5.68 version of the atgames legends cabinet
I am assuming this would work too with current gen arcade games that have online?
does this work for Legends Gamer Pro the plug in version?
April 15 2021
I just got my new Legends Ultimate arcade. but i am having a problem with the downLoads shown here.
I want to load my old CD games to USB. mostly Pinballs games. why don't I see the downloads that are shown in the great video.
Hi, I cant find a file/folder that says Bezel Art.....I found everything else...can you send me link? Thanks
Everything works except for the cores I can't get the roms to appear? I know I'm a year late but any help would be appreciated.
There are no zips with the thumbnails anymore, the link to thumbnails ends with 404 error
I'm a little late to the party, and it seems like the box art repository is no more. Do you have an alternative site for those?
Any updates on Neo Geo Arcade Stick Pro?
Fantastic Video, thank you!
Where did you find your Bezel Art?
I ended up just doing a google search and found a bunch of user made bezel art and the needed to scale it down to the correct size for this machine
@@Restalgia thanks I'll keep looking.
Oddly enough the box art image files for Dungeons & Dragons Tower of Doom don't seem to want to display on the Cabinet when selecting them, but show fine in the add-on tool
@@davidlockwood8127 I just posted this in a fb group...
PSA: I am not sure if anyone has already discovered this... I have been playing around with the game add-on tool and noticed some of my games were not displaying properly in the main menu. You could still click them and play the game, but in the menu, the artwork would not display, and the title of game was displaying as AddOn_insertgamenamehere.UCE.
Anyway, after about an hour of playing around swapping roms and images, to no avail, I realized all the games had something in common. They all used special characters like "&" or had an apostrophe in the name. Once those were removed, and the UCE was re-built, everything worked normally.
For example, The Adventures of Batman & Robin, needed to be changed to The Adventures of Batman and Robin. Additionally a game that said something like "Steve's" needed to be changed to "Steves" for it to work. It appears that periods and dash do not effect the files in the same way.
Hopefully that saves people a bit of grief!
@@Restalgia thanks man! That did it!
So you have to add these ROMs one by one? Is there any way to do all of this in bulk?
It has to be done one by one unfortunately
could I add games to my ALU via mac without having to code on terminal to support the microsoft file?
Good video
When I put in the usb device, I dont get the add on option on the left menu.
I wasn't able to get the N64 games to work do you know of 64 ROMs that works?
Where do you get the game rom
