Finally!! Here is the long awaited muck up day school vlog. This was filmed in October of 2020 - before exams, before ATARs came out, before the holidays - so a lot has changed since but this is so nice to look back on. I'm sure that I'll be back here in 20 years, to reminisce on these special last few days of school, spent with such wonderful people.
If you aren't from Australia, or just aren't familiar with what 'Muck up day' means, it is basically a day where year 12 students (seniors) go a lil crazy and pull a bunch of pranks at school. At McKinnon however, we do it a little differently - everyone dresses up in costumes that begin with the first letter of their first name or last name. It's amazing to see the effort that everyone puts into their costumes! I throughly enjoyed it. Also, I think muck up day is the equivalent of senior prank in the United States (someone from their, confirm this!)
I dressed up as Moana. In this video you'll also be seeing Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc, Superman, Izzie Stevens from Grey's Anatomy, The Winx fairies, teen mums, Adam Sandler (from several movies), Zohan from Don't Mess With the Zohans, Pitbull (Mr.Worldwide), Magic Mike, Tiger King (Carol Baskin), an M&M, Mario and Luigi, Coco Pops cereal, Nerds lollies, tennis players and many more! Many of these costumes were disney inspired

this looks like such a fun tradition! i loved seeing everyone's costumes. still cannot get over the fact that you all still get to have recess in high school; that stopped for us in elementary school haha. omg there are so many people in your grade alone. that looks like more people than my whole high school combined.
I think breaks are so so important - without recess I genuinely don’t think I’d be able to learn as well. also hahaa yes our school is massive

Same here in Canada and although we don’t have to fear any real weapons in schools whenever we have costume days like these we aren’t allowed to bring fake weapons even if they go with our costume as well as no masks over the face so we are able to be identified

Girl - these videos are making me so nostalgic as I graduated from Mckinnon in 2010 (fml so old) and I love seeing some of the old teachers who are still there, and a completely revamped school that looks nothing like when I went there nearly 11 years ago! We had the old Year 12 centre which was falling apart!
Fun fact - I am STILL close friends with a lot of the girls in my high school friendship group! We have travelled the world together, studied together, grown up through our 20's together. I still look at our old dress-up day Facebook albums and laugh at our costumes etc - feels like yesterday! It's so crazy to think of our lives then and how much changes in 10-11 years - but it's nice to know that the friendships are still there! You change and evolve and go down different paths but you will always have those memories of school!
I live in Bentleigh and drive past Mckinnon most days - makes me sad and nostalgic when I think of all the incredible memories of that place but THANK YOU for making these Vlogs showing the school as it helps fill that void :)

In WA, muck up day includes getting egged and water bombed after school while walking to the bus or IGA, water guns at school, a bunch of memes, pranks and year 7s getting kicked out of their area

This brings back memories from last year when the year 12’s put oil on all the lockers (and they were greasy for the rest of my year), put honey on all the rails and covered the school in flour 👍
