I couldn’t stand Shelby in the 1st movie with Murch but damn she really grew as a person and blossomed into what you’d love a wife to be. Q just suprised me and seeing him not afraid as a MAN to get down on one knee and admit his TRUE feelings was great. Murch just became the Alpha he was always meant to be. I agree with you about Harper & Robin, and I don't appreciate how all of the friends were agreeing with Robin! Especially, Candice, she had a lot of nerves cursing Harper out! She was way to invested in their business! I am speaking from a woman's point of view, by the way! I think he should have fought for at least joint custody, and she should have expected for him too! I know couples who have fought about taking a child to another state, but another Country! No parent, who has a close relationship with their child would agree to that, and a parent would not expect for another parent to agree with that, it is unrealistic! Another thing I agree with you about; is the storyline with Lance, and his son, and I am by the way a Christian, and not afraid to admit it! I also get so sick of Hollywood #1 trying to make everyone accepting of the new society norms! I also do not like "emasculating" the black male, either! It's beginning to become taboo, to make a black male gay, and/or non masculine in every movie, series, sitcom, comedy, etc! I believe Terrence Howard, recently announced he is retiring, because of that reason! Overall, I did like the series, and I look forward to the Best Man Senior Years, in the next 10-15 years! I want to see Harper & Jordan married as seniors, they can write Robin off (as far as I am concerned) Lance, should be married to the lady he met in the Islands, and the other 2 couples married, with grandchildren. Hopefully, everyone is still alive and well!

      Girl you said it. I was so annoyed with the Christian Hypermasculine trope. As a Christian woman who struggles with her sexuality this is annoying to see. You can love your child not accept their lifestyle choice and pray for them. Not once did Lance pray for his son, read the word together and tell him to bring it to the Lord nothing. Second it’s ironic that they made Lance promiscuous but yet having so much hate for his son. Like true Christianity is not like this.

    Other than the taking the child to Ghana which I really hated. The other thing that really bothered me was when Lance went to LJ's friends house "Lex". Lance is very emotional and is TRYING to use the "correct pronouns" to describe his son. But he slips up (because he's not used to it) and said "his brother and sisters", then Lex takes it upon themself to be a smart ass and say "who's brother and sisters?" . Sorry not sorry, if my child is missing and you wanted to take this time to be pronoun police and be an asshole, oh I'm going off on you because no actual parent is gonna play that game when they think they're child is in danger. It was ridiculous and bad writing.

      @tonyt_mp4744 Před rokem +3

      I don't think it was bad writing necessarily, I think it was highliting how in times like these or normal times(I guess) "pronoun police" will always throw it out there that you're wrong even if it's a mistake. Pronouns, in the sense of how the community use it, is not mainstream...at all. So yeah I think it was well written to highlight both that pronouns are important but also that there's a time and place for everything and people won't be perfect at using them all of the time.

    I love the Best Man movies. I just don’t like the direction of the show and having the different agendas that aren't good for the community. Like for her to berate him and make him seem selfish for wanting to co-raise his daughter and for some of the friends to agree with her made it seem like the shows’ directors agree with her. I just don’t like that narrative and that we make it so hard for fathers to stay in their Childs lives. She could've lived her life, ran her business in the city and in the summers go and be a guest chef in Ghana. And the daughter could experience Ghanian culture every summer. That would be best for the child.

    I loved the Best Man, Final Chapters! Much praise and kudos to Malcolm and the very talented ensemble of African American actors who brought these intriguing storylines to life. I loved that the franchise follows the characters from college to middle age and touched on real-life challenges we face as we age. It beautifully illustrated the "ups and downs" that African Americans experience as we navigate life: relationships, family, careers, finances, structural racism and microaggression, sexism, grief, loss, faith, and spirituality. My only regret is that this is the final installment of this fabulous series.

    In my opinion, Shelby and Q are the only good part in Best Man Final Chapters. Lance's character falling for some random person, was a waste of writing, because what little was written wasn't enough. They didn't have enough scenes together to actually have the audience root for them. Murch questioning his masculinity was random. Jordan's romantic storyline was weak and they just threw random dudes at her. Robin's character had no real purpose and grew unlikable by the end. You can't just take a child away from her father because you want to live in Ghana. Harper was Harper but disappeared for a few episodes. But my biggest issue was the LGBTQ agenda being pushed in this show. I have no issue with LGBTQ characters but it was so forced and unnecessary. I watch Best Man for the original cast. I don't care about them trying to create a plot around this new character that we honestly care nothing about. I would've preferred that they did a movie centered on Shelby and Q or that they spent more time showing us how Lance fell for new woman. Altogether show was a disappointment for me.

These days I always expect black entertainment to feminize at least ONE black male in any series or movie. Have to keep us 'neutered' for the masses. And Robyn was insufferable the whole series, should have traded her for Mia. Her selfishly taking the daughter to Ghana was a petty move. Idk why our ppl sell out for these roles. I would have turned this role down because of the fact they stay pushing that agenda on us black folks. I hate that 💩

    Where do I start lol! Good review my guy I think you hit some keep points that I will echo. What I liked about the movie is that it kept you laughing, and it was compelling because of the Black Brat Pack doing it again. What I couldn't stand is the over feminization Lifetime Network narrative spin that was all over each episode. The happy wife happy life crap, Harps kid being taken to Ghana, Merch co-signing on kid being taken to Ghana, Lance not knowing anything about his son being non-binary, the non-binary they/them saying he wished Lance was the dead parent, Harp being ganged up on about not wanting his kid to go to Ghana, Shelby insinuating that the mother is the better parent, Robin emotionally cheating with the food n*gga, the food n*gga coming into Harps crib/being in the same space as their daughter, etc. Merch not getting revenge on Karen cab scene character. I could literally go on and on. The goal of society as a collective is to ridicule and demonize masculinity. I know it would be written for Lance to bow down to his son’s lifestyle and for Harp to finally come to a realization that it’s best for my daughter to move across the world at that young of an age because my wife is a hater. Aww man! All the female characters were masculine and then the cool black professor had to be creep. Sad stuff!!

    Peace mac, hope all is well. First off i wanna say Terence howard and melissa (shelby character) carried, they were the comedic relief of the show, they brought that energy. I believe that harper has been a selfish snake since 1999, he was never in love with robyn, he wasted her years, she always stood in the shadow so he can shine. She gave him the opportunity to come with them to ghana and she said he can stay, even tho they are divorced, lowkey she was giving him another chance on the low. He could of still been working from anywhere in the world. But besides that he couldn’t do it for his daughter SMH. His daughter mia was begging & crying and he didn’t compromise for his daughter, that shows how selfish he is. He thinks people are characters in his lil book and that goes into how he embarrassed Murch in his movie for millions to see. At the end of it all it showed his friends still coming through for him when he was at his lowest

      I agree with the other commenters, because in real life, only around 1 percent of the population are gay. They normalize it through TV shows and films, to brainwash people into thinking there are way more gay people out there. Also they normalize and popularize it, in order to Turn straight people onto the gay lifestyle path. It's very inorganic and forced, and that's what a lot of us aren't appreciating. It's a very forced agenda, and the hypocrisy of them is, they want to force things onto us, but if someone dares to "force" something onto them, they call it oppression. Gay people are the new oppressors, they are doing exactly what they used to accuse Christians of doing to them.

I’m pretty sure the writer/director of this franchise is queer even though he’s not publicly out. And probably about half of y’all favorite rappers, singers, actors are somewhere in the gender, sexual, affection, romantic, emotion, commitment spectrum. When are we gonna grow up and get over it? As far as the series, I thought it was an upgrade from ‘Holiday’, though still not as charming and easy as the original. The budget and some of the writing was sketchy.
