EU4 - Can someone explain to me why the ai is doing a weird war?
Im playing Palpatine, I got the mission for a Personal Union with Landshut, so I declared war & sieged it & the allies down but as usual some ai nations wanted to get a piece
of the action to stop me getting war s ore (Salzburg & Augsburg) Landshut was allied to Ferrara & some others. Salzburg took one Landshut province but I couldn't be bothered to siege down Ferrara & I already had the 60% needed so I got the Union. This called me into a war with Salzburg & Augsburg... All normal. However, I don't understand why Salzburg is now in an offensive war against Ferrara - On Ferrara it says "Defender against Salzburg in the Salzburg conquest of Landshut" but on Salzburg it says they only have one war against me. Yet Ferrara is not my vassal and Salzburg are sieging them down... Is this just a bug? Does it happen often? Cos I don't understand what is going on.
If I understand correctly, you just joined the war against Salzburg after getting PU, which included previous Landshut allies.
From What I understand, Landshut was defender in two wars, one against you, and one defending against Salzburg. When you got the PU, you inherited the Salzburg war. Ferarra however was alreaedy fighting against Salzburg as an ally of Landshut before they got PUed. So now, they are left in that war without the defending war leader (that is Landshut, caused you vassalised them). It happens, whenever you vassalise PU someone, if they were in a seperate war their old allies will carry on the figth.
@@giorgio564 seems odd that an old ally would stay in a war if its ally is taken over... i think they should change that really but i guess what you said makes sense so i now realise why they are in that war even though i dont think that should happen.. i mean... if i peace out with the person i declared war on, all the other guys stop being at wear with me.. for me it seems like it should be a sudden peace and then a new war against me for salzburg.. not a continuation of a war
@@giorgio564 yeah someone else said that.. i understand why it happend now i just dont think it should happen. for me it makes more sense that as i take over a nation all previous allies should peace out...cos ferrara is now fighting for a war that neither they want nor salzburg wants.. for me its like they stopped existing as they were and are now a new thing (ie my pu) and they were the war leader so its allies should be forced to peace out.. its kinda like if a bully asks his mate to help him fight the nerdy kid who refused to give him his pocket money and then the nerdy kid asks his mate to help him fight the bully.. then the bully & the nerdy kid realise they are in love & go off on holiday together... and the two mates still end up fighting each other for no apparent reason..
