You should check out Monster Squad (1987) and The Blob (1958 or 1988), both are awesome.💜
Also, I think you should see the all female Ghostbusters. You probably won’t do a reaction to it, totally understand, but you should be the judge on whether you think a movie is good or not.

I was still a young kid when this came out and grew up surrounded by paintings. So when this movie introduced the idea of something demonic living INSIDE an already creepy portrait, I ended up having some serious whacked out nightmares as a child. Ghosts, goblins, vampires, zombies and werewolves never bothered me, but killer paintings when I was surrounded by said creepy paintings? Oh, that did a number to my psyche.

The next film in the Ghostbusters franchise is actually the 2009 video game. All cut scenes are available on CZcams. This is the essential 3rd film in the trilogy and expands on the events of the original. It features voice work from all the main cast and was written by Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis. Also, this was Harold's final GB project before he passed away.

In Ghostbusters: The video game (2009), we learn that the river of slime actually comes from the Shandors' island which in located in the Hudson river, and that the spirit of Vigo happened to be at the right place at the right time; and took advantage of it.
About what you say at 19:20 . It depends yes. The environment / buildings around us absorbs energy, and when something tragic happens it can get "saved / memorised/ recorded" by the materials of the building. Which can create an "echo/ recording" that will play over and over again.

Vigo the Carpathian's backstory is very reminiscent of Vlad the Impaler, the Wallachian warlord on whom Bram Stoker modeled Dracula. That at least explains the severed heads on stakes in the subway.
This viewing is the first time I noticed the Statue of Liberty lying in the street at the end. Did she get up and walk back to the island? (Only to get her head knocked off in CLOVERFIELD?)

    • @AspieMediaBobby

Contrary to popular belief, Bram Stoker like most Europeans outside of Romania,Germany,Austria,Hungary and Turkey didn`t really know anything about Vlad aside from him being a Voivode, impaling Turks and Boyars and supposedly dipping bread in the blood of his impaled enemies according to the Saxons who weren`t exactly reliable considering they betrayed him to the Turks and Boyars just because he forced them to pay taxes to their Transylvanian peasants when they did not want to!

Two things I haven't seen in the comments so far.
The actor who plays Vigo... he was not a nice man in real life, to put it lightly. His sister may actually have been his daughter, let's put it that way.
There is a quick clip in this movie when Ray is driving erratically and Peter whips his head around in the car a couple of times. This scene looks weird. The reason is that originally it was meant to be that Ray was already possessed at this point and that's why he was driving like that. It was changed in the final film but that bit of the scene remains in that montage without explanation.

  • @glennwelsh9784
    @glennwelsh9784 Před 2 lety +1

I think the film's biggest problems stem from the fact that it feels very much like a retread of the original Ghostbusters with much of the same story beats. It doesn't make any sense that people would still be skeptical of the Ghostbusters, that they would also get saddled with the property damage bills from the Gozer incident, and that they'd be legally prohibited from busting ghosts. Plus, the notion that Dana and Peter broke up and she had a kid with someone else brings an awkward energy to the film.
Also the kid at the birthday party who says "My dad says you guys are full of shit" is Jason Reitman, the director's son. Jason is actually the director of the next movie, Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
And for the record, as someone who lives a dozen miles from New York City, no it does not always snow for New Year's. It often doesn't. It does, however, tend to get really, really cold.

TV will never be the same as it was when growing up in the 80s/90s during the early days of cable TV. There used to be many different channels owned by lots of different owners. Nowadays 90% of the channels are owned by like 6 companies. Everything has been corporatized and homogenized. It would be great if we could decentralize the TV/film industry but that'll probably never happen.

I am a huge Bill Murry fan, gotta check out What About Bob and also Groundhog Day both from the 90s and Stripes and Scrooged (be a good one for Christmas reaction) both from the 80s.
If you react to any or all you won't be disappointed

Well, if I may recommend just a thing, I´m sure you´ve never heard of: If you consider to watch some anime for your channel, too, there has always been one anime, that has been my personal favorite of all time and to this day, it´s probably even my #1 favorite tv show of all time. You just need a lot of heart and soul to like it. But it´s only 39 episodes long (each episode ~ 20 minutes) and I watched it probably around the time for the first time, that I watched Ghostbusters 2 for the first time (perhaps a couple of years later)...
It´s called "Nadia - Secret of Blue Water"!

I've liked this movie ever since I first saw it. I go back and forth on whether I like it as much as the first, but it definitely isn't as bad as people make out. Vigo is a great villain, different than Gozer, but still within that realm of Cthulu-inspired horrors. There's a ton of quotable lines and memorable moments, and there's a few really good scares as well.
Definitely recommend the animated series and playing/watching the 2009 game.
    Please don't suck, Afterlife.

Yes! This movie might be pretty dated but for me the comedy is on Par . I love all the characters.... they could not have found a better team of actors for this movie . Sigourney Weaver is one of my favorite actresses ever and her coupled up with Bill Murray is so adorable together . I am really looking forward to seeing what scary films are headed this way for October . I am really happy you did a reaction video for this movie . Thank you.... Tim.

I'm kinda hoping that you might consider watching the Real Ghostbusters show as a series. While there are some "bad" episodes, of course, there's some really good ones too! Maybe you'd be interested in reviewing some specific episodes which are really good? I'd be happy to provide a list of those episodes for you, too! Let me know :)
