  • Welcome back to Unguided! In this month's video, our fishing team heads off into the unknown on our annual trip! This time, we hauled the boat down from south Georgia to the Sportfishing Capital of the World - Venice, Louisiana. We have always wanted to target the large yellowfin tuna in the deep waters of the Gulf, using a method of fishing that is relatively new to our crew, trolling at night with live bait. We were supposed to have a local guide go offshore with us, since we had never been in these waters before, and when we got to town, he was nowhere to be found. We checked everywhere we could and could not find a replacement willing to be hired for local knowledge. So, in true Unguided fashion, we just sent it anyway 120 miles offshore! Even though we were able to locate live bait easily, the tuna bite was a different story. We spotted large tuna, and even had a few of them on briefly, but things didn't really seem to go as we hoped. You live and you learn. That's not to say we didn't have a few tight lines overnight, we caught all kinds of fish in 6,000 feet of water, just not the ones we were specifically targeting. We got into Blue runners, Bonitas, Barracudas, and even a few sharks! There are some great underwater shots of getting tailed by multiple sharks 100 miles offshore, and fighting them with the 80 Ws. After spending all night out there, we headed back in, to a rig 40 miles offshore for the morning Red Snapper bite. It was ELECTRIC! We caught our limit in about an hour, plus a couple of tasty Triggerfish and a Red Porgy. At this point we lost one of our 2 300HP outboards, and limped back into Venice 24 hours after we cast off. Even though our night plans didn't exactly work out like we hoped, we at least filled the box before returning to shore, and boy did we eat well that night! We learned a lot on this trip and will definitely be back in the future, next with a little more knowledge of the area. Morale of the story - when adversity strikes, don't let it back you down! Send it anyway, because there is no greater learning experience in life than getting out there and learning it on your own!
Next on Unguided: Montana Backcountry Elk Camp 2023 was a whole new experience in our western hunting series, and the content is EPIC! We chased elk all through the central Montana backcountry, sleeping on the ground and carrying everything on our backs. The rut was in full swing, and it was an unforgettable experience. Stay tuned, I should have it up by the end of the year!
Thanks again for checking us out, hammer that LIKE button and SUBSCRIBE! Can't tell you how much that helps us out as we try to get our young channel going!

Float got stuck - got it going by forcing fuel through about 20 miles from port.
