For sure, North Korea's propaganda says that the strongest baduk players live in North Korea, and most importantly, only Kim Jong-un can defeat KataGo giving 9 handicap stones and playing blind-go.

You have spent very little time in the United States, hence it is quite remarkable your command of American English is so advanced and natural sounding, both gramatically and by accent. How do you account for this mystery? You may have an inate genius for languages, in which case additional career options are open to you. As always, many thanks for your engaging and instructive videos!

Thanks for another great video! 🙏 Note that there are many different so-called 'networks' for KataGo (and LeelaZero as well), which affect how well the bot can judge the value of moves. Also, a setting like 'number of playouts' or 'maximum thinking time' affects the bot's strength. Change these settings and it might be that you'll already need an additional handicap stone 😉

I think the answer to the question in the title is definitely not! It's more important than ever that professional go players do all the things that AIs still can't really do. It's not just about having strong moves and lots of knowledge about the game (though that's certainly helpful), but also about being able to relate the emotions behind the moves and inspire other humans to enjoy the game. From that perspective, CZcams channels like this one, as well as live streams and so on are quite important, because they give more opportunity to explain what's going on in your head while you play than a traditional tournament setting. That can help new players connect to the game, and inspire existing players to keep learning. Watching top human professionals do battle in silent concentration can be interesting and inspiring too, for those who already know the game, but it seems harder to reach new people and keep the game alive that way.
An AI will show you all kinds of sequences, and tell you how good it thinks they are as a number, but it can't express how it feels.
As for foreign impressions about South Korea, personally, it looks like a very nice and modern place to live. I've not had the chance to visit, but the pictures I've seen of Seoul always make it look like everything is fresh and well-maintained. (A lot of it actually is quite new, from what I understand.) The thought that Kim Jong Un could become suicidally unhinged and launch a nuclear weapon over the border is a little worrying, but I don't think it would trouble me enough to make me think twice about living there. He seems more concerned with keeping up appearances than actually taking actions that would result in a counterattack from the entire world. It's really sad for the ordinary people of North Korea though, that they don't have a system of government that is able to keep their best interests in mind. I hope we do eventually see a reunification, or if not that, at least that North Korea finds a path toward a more open government that serves its people, rather than the other way around.

Yeonwoo, I have a question. Is it a good idea for beginners to learn by replaying pro games. Without commentary, just the moves, in order to just get the feeling of what shapes the pro players make? And after replaying many pro games, without commentary, the beginner can learn those shapes? Thanks.

It’s hard to be afraid for 60 years. It’s easier to slowly slip into numbness, especially as a group, finding more immediate things to think about. So some os us who think about Korea, and had Korean roommates, and grew up with Korean friends, think South Koreans feel safe because it would be crazy to be terrified for so long. North Korea could really hurt Seoul with conventional weapons, and threatens to (usually implicitly but occasionally implicitly) as its primary diplomatic tool. I have always felt vulnerable for my friends, even if there isn’t usually any point for them to feel the threat-being scared won’t make it go away either.

If you are not sure how to set it up, there might be easier options like playing against one of the bots on a Go server, though I am not sure which one has the strongest settings. We don't get arested and thrown in jail yet, for simply talking to people about our beliefs about where all life comes from, since overall the legal system is still supporting us all in the U.S.A. and backed by the freedoms expressed in our Constitutional Laws of Freedom, to express freedom to live for the freedom from the slavery to sin against one another and God. Unlike the governament in Canada that has been arresting people for such freedoms and expressions of such also. So, Canada has become worse in this way, if no other, than the U.S.A. . Are you unaware of this in Canada??? Maybe you can be apart of changing this? I hope it will change for your people and people visiting Canada, so we won't have to go to jail for Loving ourself and our neighbor concerning the meaning of Life and Love of the most basic expressions of freedom between people in these way.
