Thank you for doing a great job with the audio. That has been one of the biggest issues with the how to vids I’ve seen

I have to set my p-setting to 7 and have a stick under the door to keep door cracked open to keep a steady temp. Without the stick, it swings up to 50 degrees above target temp. Even with the door cracked its still around 20 degrees hotter in the box than target setting the displayed box temp is very inaccurate.

so the higher the P setting the more intense the smoke flavor in meat?? like if i wanted to get the orginal charcoal flavor on leg quarters with charcoal pellets i would cook on P4, P5, or even p7 for about 2hrs maybe then crank up to 350?? would the smoke flavor be there almost similar to a charcoal pit?? i just miss that charcoal pit flavor put i like the convience of setting my temps dude lol

Pit Boss support told me the P setting does make a difference in temperature mode also. They said whatever the P setting is at is the same frequency it uses at temperature settings, but it seems to feed more when the temp goes to low in temperature mode.

Michael Bendele same I will definitely go back and correct that. I was told the wrong information by an employee at a local bbq store.

yes. the p- setting will make minor adjustments from 200 all the way through 250 to help with changing conditions. at 300+ it does not use the p anymore. you still have to adjust at the smoke setting though. so turn it down to smoke real quick and adjust the p number and then right back to set temp.

I’m looking at pit boss 1150 v3. It has a PID. Some say that you don’t need a P setting because the PID is self-regulating. My issue is that the 1600 has both a PID and P setting. Is a P setting necessary for a hood Smokey flavor if I have a PID?

So what if you have a Lexington model they have no (P) setting button..

say just for example i set it to the smoke setting and my p setting is set to 200. what is the difference between doing that and just setting the dial to 200? do i get more smoke? or no difference. i dont see why you would ever use smoke setting unless it was at a temp lower than your lowest set temp.

  • @StoneMountainAdventures

Gonna try out these p settings lol. I've just been setting mine to a temp and letting it roll.

You guys need to Adventure into your beers. Try a paulaner Hefeweizen. Amazing beer! Or a Dunkel visen. It's a dark version of a Hefeweizen. America does not know how to make beer! I've been to Germany, France, and Holland. Germany, by far, has the best beer ever! Go to your local Total Wine, and pick some up.

From what I've noticed. The higher the p settimg the more smoke. P setting controls the rate at which the auger feeds the pellets. If the p setting is set to high you risk the flame going out.
P4 smokes amazingly... P3 slightly less amazing. P3-p4 is ideal
Have another drink man... Maybe a shot and calm down 😂😂😂😂😂
