Honest and fun to watch. Thank you! Keep’em coming.
Love your videos man! Keep em coming, really pleasant to watch and informative.
Sweet upgrades and kicks 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Love the video. Very informative. Specially liked part showing how to do tubeless (best on CZcams IMO) but I am still on the fence for it and currently running on silicone tubes.
Top video. I'm really keen to see your review of the checkpoint alr5 that you upgraded.
Really nice build bro. You make tubeless conv. look easy next to others.
Lots of practice, doing many conversions in the past with non tubeless tires and rims helps a lot. Thanks for watching!
Great vid mate. It took me a while to work out you were Canadian, as you sound so Irish. Dude those shoes are Super flash gay burlesque!! 😜😉
These videos may be the most time consuming to make, but are by far the most fun... Especially since I get to ride the finished product. It is a lengthy one so navigate at your own will. Enjoy!

Yet again another great vid from Lob👍
Some thoughts:
1) Greasing the headset cups and/or outer bearing surface might not a good idea - could induce "rocking" under braking/acceleration.
2) Found injecting sealant into the valve (minus core) to be very easy/neat. And so far, none of the valves gunked up.
3) Why do Bontrager persist with those strips - tubeless tape is just as effective and most likely cheaper. Also, tape (or strips) should really come pre-installed on pricier wheelsets.
4) Does your vacuum cleaner have an appropriate filter for catching carbon dust - eg HEPA?? If not, the particles will be sprayed back into your room - and wifey won't be happy!!
Remember, happy wife = happy life (=n++1)💏
Worth mentioning either way👍
Keep spinning.
Never really thought about that, but that makes sense, no need to grease the outer surface our cups... or maybe I just wanted to create my own version of the headtube decoupler?!?!
Congrats! Thats an awesome build. I have the same bike & setup. The only difference is I swapped the pro 3 carbon wheels that came with it & went with the new xxx4 carbon wheels. I also grabbed the xxx road shoes which I like a lot.
Did you add the Quarq power meter? What’s the weight?
No I didn't add the power meter yet. Current weight is 16.5@@ToddJones
also I didn't go with the tubeless but I'm running tubes with 28 bontrager R3 tires
I put the xxx4 on my domane - love them
I liked the video! Keep it up. I think the upgrades are great, but the rim strip is kinda heavy. I prefer tape; works great and is much lighter.
Yah, I used to use tape way back, this is so much cleaner and simple. I sacrifice weight for a few grams these days. If I had the XXX wheels and lightest tires I would choose the lighter tape, good point.
Hey. Thanks for the video. Just wondering what exact quarq power meter model you got for the sram force? I have the same group set and would like to get the same set up. Thanks
Thank you for the video, I am just about to order an Emonda SLR7 Etap force project one as I can pre select the power meter fitted and also select the bar stem combo that you have just fitted, I wonder if you might be able to answer a question on the bars, I use a Garmin Edge 1030 and have read the Garmin Mount supplied is not long enough for the edge 1030 and wondered if you had any experience of this? Also I wondered if they supply a double stem mont to allow a flare r led below the Garmin Mount? Thank you.
Mark Travers I have heard of this, and I think there is an after matter solution or maybe even one you can get from Trek, I’d recommend asking the shop to look into this when you order the bike, or before hand. You are right tho, the 1030 does not fit with that mount.
New rider question! Can a gravel bike be used a road bike? Why the gravel bike....I like the strong build of it. I figure I can swap out the tires as needed for road use?
How are the 28s? Do you think it's good enough for some gravel trails? I'm planning to get the 2020 ALR5 as an all-rounder bike. Purple flip of course!
great on the road, prob not great on gravel unless its hard packed.
Hey man! Great video thanks for sharing.
Quick question. I converted my wheels to tubeless. I left the same rim tape. Was that a mistake? What rim tape did you use ? I have the Shimano version of the Emonda. Sram Not available in the us. Thanks again man!
Hmm, maybe you had a tubeless rim tape in there already? If not that is fantastic that it is holding air. If your tires aren't going flat then I don't see a problem. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for your reply bro.
Nice video👍🏻
Does the original chainrings fit with the quarq spider?
You bet, 👍
What pressure do you run on the Schwalbe tyres? I have the same bike looking to go TL. Thanks.
Hi there, I run the at 90psi max, sometimes 85.
Why not trying that bontrager xxx saddle which is just 67 grams
Nice video for upgrading a Trek Emonda sl 7 Etap, is that a QUARQ DZero DUB Power Meter Spider 130mm or 110mm?
I believe the force AXS compatible power meter is 107 bcd. It’s technically a SRAM etap AXS powerneter spider.
@@ToddJones Hi thx for the info, found it now, was looking to the SRAM XX spiders instead of the Red/Force spiders. FYI ordered the Trek Emonda SL 7 disc ETAP this afternoon...
Can you share a link to the rim strips? I've only ever seen or used tape.
I did some digging on Trek's website, the model number for the Aeolus Pro 3 rim strip is W514417 (700cx19.5), If you tell your local bike shop that number they'll order it for you. Cheers!
Xcaliber 9 or giant talon 1
tubeless is worth the weight. No more flats (well almost no more flats ever)...
17 lbs without pedals
nice extensive build video but please please do not weight a bike without pedals LOL
What pedals would you like me to weigh the bike with? Shimano? Speedplay? Look? Or maybe some flats?
@@ToddJones the pedals you will use when you ride LOL
@@spartanbike2260 When a bike company lists their weight they list it without pedals. If I list the weight with my pedals it would not apply to a large majority of the people who watch the video, unless of course they use the same pedals.
2020 and we are still seeing exposed cables, disappointing trek
This frame has not been redesigned for a while, you’ll likely see a new frame next year.
handlebar grip all badly fitted. All the way in the opposite direction 🙈🙈🙈
This is how I was taught, how would you do it? I’m interested to know?
@@ToddJones You said to yourself at 6:24 "I dont think I do this properly" and you're right. From the bottom handlebar your hands will likely go to outside when you squeeze and on the tops, where I assume you will more offen spend time when climbing your wrists go rather go backwards than forwards. That's me opinion but I know there's 2 schools of wrapping handlebar.
Epic fail, the blues don't match....
