- I moved to England 2 years ago and I have picked up some British cultural habits. In this video I discuss 4 things I've started doing since moving to the United Kingdom that I did not do while I was living in America. All of the actions I mention have challenged me to get out of my comfort zone which has made my experience in England very enjoyable.

Thank you for choosing to watch and subscribe 😊 Have you moved to another area, city, state, country, etc. and changed some of your habits? If so please share where you lived and what you found yourself doing differently 💕💎
I live in Texas for now my habits haven't changed I always speak say thank you and a quiet cup of coffee.
I live at Rangsit. it is nice to know of a nice place to stay next time I am in Pattaya.
I have warned you before about "creeping anglicisation". When you find yourself dunking a Hobnob in your tea, you will know, beyond all doubt,
that the process is complete. The timeless magic of this old place has taken hold of you and, wherever you go later, you'll never be quite the
same again. I'm so glad that you have finally slowed down to our pace. Life is good, savour it!.........................................the ancient Englishman.
You'll know you are Anglicised when you start saying "Sorry" if you walk in front of somebody in the street.
Or bump into a lamppost! 😂
😂
@@jillosler9353 done it 😂😂😂
Somebody's dog walked into me the other day, the dog was blind and the owner apologised to me. Nobody's fault just one of those things.
@@jillosler9353 I was about to say the same. I apologise to door frames I accidentally bump into 🤦🏼♂️🤣
This is called 'Working to Live' and is very different from the US idea of 'Living to Work'.
Work / Life balance is very important to British people (its possibly a European thing as well) so I am glad you are feeling the vibes and enjoying being part of our way of life.
You and your Husband are honorary Brits now, thanks for talking so nicely about our little Island, hopefully you both will stay for a very long time......
Aww thank you 😄💕
You are a gorgeous couple. Thanks for highlighting the positives about the UK.
After visiting the USA. I always said African Americans, would do better in the UK, from a living stand point. I'm happy for you!!!
Any American
Thank you Oliver 💕
@@oliverbird6914 no. African Americans... White Americans and others who identify as white ... Are doing fine...
For start they are just called British
@@tenniskinsella7768 Sorry! What are you talking about??
Nice to see you enjoying, what we take for granted
I'm on the flip side of you ! i was born and raised in nottingham, UK now documenting life on youtube in NYC. I'm so glad to see you are enjoying the UK and really getting to know the culture too and im so thankful you didn't do a fake british accent. you are awesome !!
Thanks for the lovely video, I hope you and your hubby enjoy a long and happy life on our wonderful little island 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸
When travelling by train in the UK don't do nothing - relax and enjoy the scenery and the country going past
So glad you're enjoying your time in the UK. Long may it continue
It was very nice to hear positives about the UK , im from here and in recent years I've almost forgot that we are a decent group of countries, its just nice to see someone from another country really enjoy it, its easy to forget when you see so much negative politics everyday.
The trains being a positive was interesting, I dont use them as I'm not in the city but if you ask a brit they are always moaning , maybe we have become complacent and more critical about what we have.
This was a nice positive 5 minutes on the UK and the differences with American
We may have our problems, but I am glad that I don't live in America. It just seems wild over there.
Try taking in some of our parks they are beautiful. London Parks are great too.
So pleased that you and your family are feeling at home! Moving to a new country is fraught with difficulties but you have obviously succeeded. Will you settle here? You will certainly be welcome
Hey Stephen 😊 I hope you been well. Thank you for watching and supporting 💕 Hopefully this does become my forever home
I can't wait to visit!! ❤
As a Brit who lived in Germany for eight years, and then France for eight years, (work related) I can only take away positives from the experience.
Again another relaxing, chilled video. So pleased you are getting around and seeing other parts of the UK and Europe.👍
I love your attitude towards my country it’s so refreshing to hear from people that have moved to U.K. and I have tried so move to Portugal and I found it really interesting to see another country in the true light so I can relate to what you’re talking about. I hope you enjoy your time here all the best and enjoy your time
Thank you so much for watching, supporting, and understanding Philip 💕💎
Very enjoyable, thank you! Wishing you and your family many more happy adventures for the future in the UK.
Great video and beautifully filmed 🎥 👏 Really nice to see both of you looking so well and having a nice time ❤️
Thank you so much Colin 🥰 So glad to hear you enjoyed it. Have an amazing week 💕💎
Take a visit to a small town in Devon called Ottery St Mary on bonfire night (5th Nov) for the tar barrel rolling.....now that's an exciting evening's entertainment.....you may have to book a hotel as it's an evening event.
Great to see your are enjoying your life here 😊 I was wondering how you think it compares to how we treat people from other countries compared to your own country.
Thank you 😊
Thank you for being a lovely person 😊💕💎
You should visit Manchester especially now that the days are getting short, you would brighten up any day with your lovely smile
Ah you visited St Neots. You are definitely getting around Diamond.
The place you showed is the town I was born; St Neots!
Thank you for watching and spotting your birthplace 😊 Such a lovely town 💕💎
@@DiamondGunn_ It was much smaller when I lived there; we moved when I was a child. Apparently the population is around 30,000 now because it's a London commuter town, but it was just a small market town with under 4,000.
Wow it has grown! I went there for jubilee festivities and they had a huge turn out as you can see
@@DiamondGunn_ I have been through At Neots a number of times on the train but not for a visit for a very long time. I have fond memories but a lot of open areas I knew have been built over with housing, etc.
I've been there mostly on a narrowboat! Beautiful moorings.
Great thanks ☺️👍
Thank you for watching 😊💕💎
I swear i saw a quick glimpse of west Sussex in your video. Like thee accent to.
Hey Lass I buy the same bacon ,30 p each time for a bag 🎒 I always use reusable, plus have you got a Tesco club card .it's worth doing.
yep the great british railway is a thing to behold you can get anywhere by train
Our railyways are good, but they are also very expensive! Much cheaper in continental Europe. Cheaper to fly to Scotland from London than get the train. Which is madness!
I agree. A train the same distance and about the quality of Thameslink in Chicago is never more than $7
I tend to get good deals but I have had trips I felt were overpriced
I agree. We just flew from Glasgow to Gatwick on Easyjet. Far cheaper than the train! Also more reliable.
@@DiamondGunn_ , the good deals are generally booked in advanced or definitely after morning rush hour and before rush hour in the afternoon
I keep getting very cheap train deals coming up. Perhaps we should act on some soon.
Enjoy your stay..
Edin-bruh 👍
Nailed it.
Thanks Gareth 😊💕💎
good on you
a very beautifully edited video, great shots, trains are great (unless there are leaves on the tracks, in which case. rail replacement bus service)
Come up to northumberland. One of the nicest places in england. Theres shitholes everywhere obviously but the little villages, castles, forests, lakes and sea views are unreal
❤❤❤❤
I was born & raised in the states , though I've lived here in the UK for 25 years so I don't even know what America is any longer except from news. I suspect that's not a good metric to go by though?. It would be interesting to hear some of your culture shocks. Also how's your British English coming along lol ?. I know it's a common language but at the same time so different is it not ?. Z is not Zee but Zed & it's not a flashlight but a torch & not a trunk but a boot & boots are wellies and does not the difference in language just march on lol ?.
Otherwise, welcome to Britain . Like any place in the world it's not perfect but its quite amazing & magical in spite of.
Railway Station too, although many now use the US version.
You ought to visit the Isle of Wight during Summer, come for the Isle of Wight Festival in June. By the way, have you read any of Bill Bryson’s books?
I would love to go for a sail when summer comes. I haven’t read Bill Bryson, is he from the Isle of Wight?
@@DiamondGunn_ He was born in Des Moines, Iowa but has lived in the U.K. since the 70’s with a spell back in the States. Quite a traveller and a prolific author with an amusing slant on life; I think he lives in Hampshire at the moment. Cowes Week is also a good time for visiting the Island, it’s party time for the yachties. If you like history then a visit to Osborne House at East Cowes is a must.
A tip, if you shop at Tesco then you can use your points to buy an English Heritage membership, I think it works out around a third of the normal cost. Happy Days!
Yes, the music was a little loud because I would prefer to hear more of you. A very pleasant video though.
Thank you for the feedback Susan 💕 I’ll try and fix that during editing next time
Use a skytrain that we did not have inEngland.
Very enjoyable vidio didn't realise you married when you moved here as the husband settled as well as you seem to have
Thank you for watching 😊 my husband and I met in the States and married there lol
Now THIS is the kind of 'immigrant' - intelligent, appreciative, and (dare I say it?) beautiful - who is MORE than welcome to our fair land. If only more of 'our' own young people were able to open their eyes and truly 'see' the treasures England in particular, and the British Isles in general have to offer!
Where exactly do you live?! I’m looking to move to Birmingham from the US.
I'm about 12 miles north of Brum (Birmingham). Hope you enjoy your visit!
I don’t live near Birmingham but I visit often. I do not know much about the area from a residence perspective but I like visiting for city breaks
Quick tip: if you see a British place name ending in -borough or -brough it is pronounced "bru", not "burro".
Looking forward to more videos. 😃👍
Thanks so much Tim for the advice 🤗 I appreciate the support 💕💎
@@DiamondGunn_ Actually, just thought: Brough in Yorkshire is pronounced "bruff". 😄
Are you sure?
@@joyfulzero853 Quite sure, thank you very much. Why do you ask?
@@andypandy9013 It depends how you are pronouncing "bru". Edin-bru seems odd to me.
You can afford to travel by train?
Brian May looked a bit rough.😊👍🏻
😂😂😂
Get up to the best place in the UK. Yorkshire.
I’ve been 💕 a video that I did covering my experience there landed me a feature in the York Press🥰 Feel free to watch the video here

Your surname is Gunn? You may either have Viking Scottish ancestry or some other link to Caithness where the Gunn clan lived. Many Highland Scots were evicted and forced from their crofts and homelands (in Caithness, from the Sutherland estate) after the 1745 rebellion and subsequently during "The Highland Clearances." Evicted people were either forced into cities where, generally, they become the poorly paid working class labourers in new manufacturing businesses like the jute industry of Dundee. Others, unwilling to endure this cultural transformation, emigrated to start a new life free from the influence of forces beyond their control and the overbearing, powerful, lairds who instigated these socio-economic changes. I have a friend in Jamaica with the surname McDonald and another from St. Lucia with the surname Browne, which are also both Scottish. Interestingly, many Scots became indentured servants to pay for their transportation and some, admittedly, worked on plantations as overseers. There has been heated debate as to whether some Scots (especially some of those transported after the 1745 rebellion) were actually enslaved or not. It's worth checking up on.
Thank you so much for this John. Since moving here I’ve been trying to read up and I got as far as Caithness so this is very insightful 💕
What a beautiful girl
Thank you so much Lucy 💕
Thanks for the video but you really need to work on your sound levels. It is all over the place, from barely audible voice over to really loud music, shame really as it doesn't make me want to come back for more.
Thank you for the feedback. I tried a new editing method for the video and this happened. We live and we learn
@@DiamondGunn_ No problem , hope it helps you sort things out.
Edingbro…….
Their must be 2 England's then one! Where's this one?
In my reality ✨
You forgot to mention the wife swapping or the UK`s vicious sense of humour.
Wife swapping 👀
This video would have been much better without the greatly varying music volume.
Please don't say edinbro to a Scotsmen you might have glaswegion kiss
You say Auld Reekie.
Are you single
Your music it too loud, annoying in fact.
The nose ring is unnecessary..
Quite surprised to see people wearing masks still. Why bother?
I think this video is covering two years and rules on trains used to require masks, so maybe just an older clip. Most people in UK don't wear masks now but some people still feel more comfortable wearing one while they're out, so it's still common to see masks around towns/ busy places.
This was from March of this year. The Eurostar required everyone to wear a mask to travel. Since trains don’t have much ventilation, especially on the tube, it’s not uncommon to see people wearing a mask in those settings
If you can enjoy living in the UK when this country is at its lowest ebb since 1970's Labour era then things must be bad in the US.
@@tenniskinsella7768 That's exactly what I'm saying.
Currently we are heading towards 1970's Labour misery
