    According to their website, this will be online concert number 44 since 3 March 2020. I'm sure I speak for everyone in saying that this is a tremendous achievement and something for which we are all tremendously grateful. We have listened to some truly spectacular music and been treated to viewing some fantastic venues. This has been a blessing at a time when the world seems to be completely crazy.

    Omg. I knew the last part was coming with the pedal part but when he added the 32 ft bombard oh my goodness. And then when Jonathan waited for the reverbs to die down for the last c h o r d. Other organists who try to post a video on CZcams have nothing to compare to the Scott brothers. One or two static cameras. Sound is marginal. Scott Brothers Performance videos and sound always up to Snuff. What a gift we have.

    They have done a great job with that organ. It does indeed sound very French romantic. There is definitely a Cavaille Coll influence there.

    Although after an incredible start with the Polonaise or the delicate sounds of Elgar in "Nimrod", which have sounded wonderful on this fabulous organ, I think my piece favorite has been the "Suite Gothique". The amount of emotions that this music transmits in an organ like this and an organist like Jonathan is incomparable.
    Thank you Tom for being the "instrument" that brings us home and around the world these beautiful images of incredible places and above all the immense work and dedication of an organ master like Jonathan.

    That reverb took some getting used to and I could see you adapting your playing to accommodate it, but what an instrument! For me it was the Chopin that blew me away. You have the unerring ability to make a piece sound as though it was originally written for the organ, and Chopin's piano music has surely got to be some of the hardest music to transcribe. But you made a piece I couldn't imagine being played on anything else - indeed the very thought of Chopin being played on anything but the piano would normally be enough to raise my blood pressure - sound like the piano was the imposter! I will now go and see if I can do it justice on a much smaller organ!

    • @epincion
      @epincion Před 2 lety +3

      I agree - this is one of those venues that the sound recording would be better when its full of people - all those hard flat surfaces - floor, ceiling walls. However it was still an excellent quality recording of the concert.

    • @organbuilder272
      @organbuilder272 Před rokem +1

      There is no echo. The sound is REVERBERATION and it is what makes the organ so majestic. This music was written for and performed in churches much more reverberant than this. Bach should be listened to in the small northern churches of Germany (with exceptions). French Music should be played on French organs and a French building. You are hearing this music as it should be performed. Well not quite. That 32' Reed is like a jake brake on a Peterbuilt truck. Likely half length.
